Runescape Skill Guides Agility

Agility is an important skill offering several benefits to members, such as aiding other skills such as Herblore and Runecrafting Guide, and allowing players to recover their energy faster. This is certainly useful in situations such as the Wilderness. This guide will cover all aspects of Agility, starting off with beginning the skill.

Starting Agility

Agility experience is usually obtained by completing Agility Courses. There are a large variety of these in the RuneScape world, and they mostly follow the same format. Players attempt to bypass obstacles (which each give a small amount of experience) until they complete the course, when they receive a course bonus. This bonus usually gives far more experience than the obstacles of the course, so generally the best method of training is to do ‘laps’ of an Agility Course. Some course obstacles can be failed, often causing players to take damage or sometimes become poisoned. If a player fails an obstacle, he must re-attempt it until completing it successfully to receive the bonus at the end of the course.

Agility Courses

The table below will show you all the available Agility Courses, and link to a short guide on each one. Also listed are the agility level requirements only – however, there may be some other requirements to use the course; see the guide for more info.

Course Name Level Required
Gnome Course Level 1 Agility
Penguin Course Level 30 Agility
Pyramid Course Level 30 Agility
Barbarian Course Level 35 Agility
Wilderness Course Level 55 Agility
Ape Atoll Course Level 48 Agility (70+ Recommended)
Werewolf Course & Skullball Level 60 Agility
Dorgesh-Kaan Course 70 Agility, Strength & Ranged

Brimhaven Agility Arena

The Agility Arena in Brimhaven, located just by the gate that seperates Karamja and Brimhaven, differs to the other Agility Courses, and can be useful to players of almost all Agility levels. There is no level requirement for this course, but at least Level 40 Agility is recommended, otherwise you will fail many of the obstacles. Once you pay Cap’n Izzy No Beard the 200 coins entrance fee, you go down a ladder into the arena, which is shown by the map below.

The object of the arena is to collect tickets, which appear at a random location every so often. The location will be indicated by an arrow on the screen, and players must get to the ticket dispensers by overcoming a series of obstacles. These obstacles give small amounts of experience, and most can be failed. Experience given by successfully bypassing these obstacles can be found below.

Obstacle Experience
Low Wall 8
Planks 6
Pressure Pads 26
Balancing Rope 10
Log Balance 12
Blade None
Spinning Blades 28
Monkey Bars 14
Darts 30
Floor Spikes 24
Pillars 18
Rope Swings 20
Balancing Ledge 16
Handholds 22

Tickets are gained by hitting the dispenser (with a flashing arrow over it) when players stand next to it. Tickets can be traded in for experience, as detailed by the table below.

Number of tickets Experience
1 240
10 2,480
25 6,500
100 28,000
1,000 320,000

You can also trade your tickets in for other items, such as the rare herbs Toadflax (3 tickets) and Snapdragon (10 tickets) for further use in Herblore. You can also purchase a Pirate’s Hook for 800 tickets, but this is just a wearable novelty item.

Course Bonus: None.

Other Agility Options

Besides the courses, there are a few other ways you can raise your agility.

Yanille Agility Dungeon

This is not officially a course, but contains a series of obstacles which allow players access to various benefits. Note that failing most of the obstacles in the dungeon lands you into an area full of Poison Spiders, so it is a good idea to bring an antipoison potion.

Obstacle Failure possible? Level Required Experience
Balancing ledge Yes 40 22.5
An out of the way obstacle pipe No 49 7.5
Monkeybars Yes 57 20
Rubble Pile (leads to Salarin the Twisted) No 67 5.5

Once you get past the last rubble pile, you can access Salarin the Twisted, which is a big help in the Herblore Skill, and a few other things. For more info, see the Yanille Dungeon section of the Herblore Guide.

Gnomeball

Gnomeball is a Mini-Game located in the Gnome Stronghold. Gnomeball can be a fun way to gain some Agility Experience. See the Gnomeball Guide for more info.

Agility Shortcuts

A handy aspect of Agility is the ability to use shortcuts to get around quicker.

Regular Agility Shortcuts

Agility shortcuts are located all throughout Runescape. They give us quick ways to get around and get past barriers and obstacles, as well as some XP, but nothing major. These shortcuts are listed below.

Obstacle Location Purpose Level
Low Wall Falador A faster way to cross from Taverley Dungeon to Falador West Bank 5
Rope Swing North of Gu`Tanoth and West of Brimhaven The rope swing near Gu`Tanoth leads to a part of the Watchtower Quest, and is also the same island upon which Jangerberries spawn. The other rope swing puts you on a small island that gives great lower level combat experience against Moss Giants 10
Monkey Bars Edgeville Wilderness Dungeon The only way to access the Earth Warriors, which offer rapid combat training experience and valuable drops 15
Tunnel Yanille A shortcut from the north side of the city wall to the middle of the city. Useful only if going south or west of Yanille 16
Log Coal Trucks, north-west of Seers A very quick way to access the Coal Mines/Trucks without having to walk around from Ardougne 20
Tunnel Varrock A quick way to get outside Varrock walls, into the forest 21
Tunnel Falador A shortcut from south of the West Bank to the Crafting Guild 26
Fence Squeeze Lumbridge A quick route from the Lumbridge church graveyard to the north-east part of the Lumbridge swamps. This is the fastest route to the town of Zanaris 29
Hopping Stones Champions Guild These stones are west of the Champions Guild and the nearby mine. The stones cross the river and come out north-east of Draynor Manor 31
Log Ardougne Cross the river west of the North Bank and comes out on the other side of the river near the road going north 33

Cliffside Scramble: Easy Trollheim Allows a quicker route to climb down the mountain 41
Narrow Crevice Dwarven Mines Goes from the passage directly south of the Ice Mountain entrance to the tunnel to the east. Not very useful 42
Cliffside Scramble: Medium Trollheim Allows a quicker route to climb down the mountain 43

Rock Climb Elven Overpass Cuts right across the northern-most bend after you take the south fork in the road 59
Spiked Chain Canifis Slayer Tower Goes from the Crawling Hands, second chamber on the first floor to the north Aberrant Specters chamber on the second floor. Deals damage if you are not wearing a Nosepeg 61
Narrow Crevice Fremennik Slayer Dungeon A narrow crevice that leads from the Basilisks to the Turoth areas 62
Rock Climb Trollheim Goes from east of Trollheim mountain through a series of rock climbs to a final rock climb down into Level 21 Wilderness. One way only, cannot be used to exit the Wilderness 64
Fence Squeeze, Rock Climb Salve Temple There is a hole in the fence to the southeast of the Salve Temple that leads to a rock climb and then another hole in the fence. Allows you to enter Morytania without using the underground route 65
Narrow Crevice Cosmic Temple There are two narrow squeeze places with a connecting corridor that allows you to chop off the big loop in the Cosmic crafting route. Closer then the medium walkway and includes no trap 66
Rock Climb Elven Overpass Goes over the cliff that the second bend in the path goes around 68
Pipe Taverley Dungeon Pipe leads from the east side of the entrance hall to the Blue Dragons. Deals damage when you go through it 70
Spiked Chain Canifis Slayer Tower Leads from the Infernal Mages north room on the second floor to the Nechryaels on the third floor 71
