The Mage Arena Dungeon may be small, but it is used a lot due to the fact that it is the only Bank in the Wilderness. It can be accessed by pulling the lever in level 55 Wilderness. The arena is also the setting for the Mage Arena Mini-Game.

Getting There
The Mage Arena entrance is found in level 55 Wilderness, a short distance past the gate separating Freeplay and Members Wilderness. You can either walk the entire way (not recommended), or pull the lever in the house in the northwest part of East Ardougne to be teleported to level 51 Wilderness. You’ll find yourself to the east of the arena.
Now just pull the lever inside of the house near the northern wall of the arena to be teleported to the dungeon!

Inside the Dungeon
There are two rooms in the dungeon the first one has the Bank and a Rune Shop in. While in the second room you can buy the God Staves and get the God Capes.
Bank Room
This is where you appear when you pull the lever in the Wilderness. There is a Rune Shop that will stock a small number of all the main Runes used in combat for low prices, a Bank and you can start the Mage Arena Mini-Game in this room too.
Rune Shop
To access the shop you must talk to Lundail or chose to Trade with him. The Shop is quite often out of Runes, but when there are Runes in stock they are cheap. The Elemental Runes never cost more than 4gp.
Lundail’s Arena-side Rune Shop
Picture Item Price
Fire Rune 17gp
Water Rune 17gp
Air Rune 17gp
Earth Rune 17gp
Mind Rune 17gp
Body Rune 16gp
Nature Rune 372gp
Chaos Rune 140gp

Cosmic Rune 232gp
Death Rune 310gp
The Bank
By talking to Gundai you can access your Bank and get out your equipment for whatever you are doing. Many clans and PKers use this Bank to re-stock on Food and Runes. It is also a popular place for Clans to group before and after trips.
When you talk to Gundai you will have three options:
Kolodion
You can talk to Kolodion to to start the Mage Arena Mini-Game and once you have killed him in all 5 forms he will tell you how to cast the spells outside the Arena.
Other Rooms
You can only access the other room once you have killed Kolodion in all 5 forms, but once inside you can get the God Staves and Capes.
Statues:
At the far North of the room are statues representing each of the main Gods - Saradomin, Guthix and Zamorak.
When you Pray at one of the altars, the cape of that god will appear in a puff of smoke.
If you try to pick up a Cape when you already have one you will get this message.
Staff Shop:
By talking to the Chamber Guardian he will tell you about the Charge Spell and you can access his shop to buy the God Staves. He will give you your first Staff for free, but after that they will cost 80,000gp each.
Saradomin -
Zamorak -
Guthix -
Getting From 1 Room to Another
There is a Sparkling Pool in both rooms in the Dungeon and by stepping in it you will go into the other room.
When you select to step into the pool a message will come up in your chat screen and if you click away from the screen when you can see this message you won’t step into the pool.
When you do step into the pool you will disappear and water splashes will come up.
Leaving
To leave the dungeon you can either teleport out or pull the lever and appear back in level 55 Wilderness.

Beneath the stagnant swamps of Lumbridge are hidden caverns waiting to be explored. Just before the entrance of the dungeon is a Candle Seller who will sell you candles for 1,000 gp each.

Getting There
Use a rope with the Dark Hole to enter the caves (note you only need to use a rope with it once). If you wish to navigate the cave you will need a lightsource. The better the lightsource the more light it gives off and the less likely it will ignite the swamp gas. The swamp gas, if ignited, can explode and cause your character a lot of recurring damage which may even kill you.
Sources of Light
Candle: Candles are the worst form of light. They easily ignite the swamp gas and provide little light. You will need level 1 firemaking to light a candle.
Candle Lantern: Candle Lanterns are a step up from the basic candle. They provide a little more light and are less likely to ignite the swamp gas. Candle Lanterns require level 4 firemaking to light.
Oil Lamp: Oil lamps are an average form of the light. They are brighter than Candle Lanterns, but the open flame makes them more vulnerable to the swamp gas. Level 12 firemaking is needed to light this lamp.
Oil Lantern: Oil Lanterns are brighter than Oil Lamps and are less likely to cause an explosion. You will need level 26 firemaking to like these.
Bullseye Lantern: Bullseye Lanterns are the best type available. The light up the entire cave and very rarely, if ever, cause swamp gas explosions. 49 Firemaking is required to light these lanterns.
For more information on making lanterns, please visit our Crafting Guide.

Tears of Guthix
The Tears of Guthix mini-game is the main reason many people visit the Lumbridge Swamp Caves. It can be played once a week and provides experience in your lowest skill. For more information about this mini-game, please see the Tears of Guthix Mini-Game guide.
Fishing Spots
The cave also has several places to fish with a small net or fishing rod. All bait fish and small net fish can be caught here.
Dorgeshuun Mines
The Dorgeshuun mines are accessible after completing the Lost Tribe Quest. There are nine iron rocks and 12 silver rocks here. You can also sell your ores to Mistag for 13 gp each iron ore and 60 gp each silver ore.
——————————————————————————–
Inhabitants
Wall Beasts
Wall Beasts will probably be the first creature you encounter. Wear your Spiny Helmet at all times because without it the Wall Beasts can inflict up to 13 damage on you. You need 35 slayer to kill them.
Cave Bugs
Cave bugs are one of the most abundant critters in the cave. They are weak yet still require 7 slayer to kill.
Cave Slime
These gelatinous blobs of slime are found through out the cavern and require 17 slayer to kill. Remember to bring Antipoison potions if you are going to kill them. Their potent poison can hit up to 8.
Cave Crawlers
Cave crawlers crawl around the cave and only people with 10 slayer can kill them. Like Cave Slime these creatures are also very poisonous, so bring lots of Antipoison.
Rock Slugs
Rock slugs have really hard-shells. You need 20 slayer and some bags of Rock Salt to finish them off.
Big Frogs
Big frogs hop around many parts of the cave. They drop big frog legs, a popular Gnome delicacy.
Giant Frogs
Several Giant frogs make their home in the Lumbridge Swamp Caves. They are level 99 and fairly strong. Occasionally they drop Giant frog legs which can “feed a Gnome family for a week.”
Light Creatures
In the deepest and darkest regions of the cave the mysterious light creatures thrive. They can not be killed and will ferry you to the other side of the chasm if you shine a lantern with a sapphire lense at them.
Cave Goblins
The docile Cave Goblins are afraid of outsiders and don’t put up much of a fight. They will be more willing to talk to you once you’ve done the Lost Tribe quest.
Kazgar
Kazgar is found just outside the Lumbridge Castle cellar and will lead you to the Dorgeshuun mines after you have completed the Lost Tribe quest.
Mistag
Mistag is a friendly, one-armed Cave Goblin. He will buy ores off you, teach you some goblin history, and lead you back to the Lumbridge Castle cellar.
Cave Goblin Guards
The Cave Goblin guards protect the Cave Goblins from outsiders. They are fairly weak and drop bone spears and clubs.
Cave Goblin Miners
Cave Goblin miners mine the iron and silver rocks in the Dorgeshuun mines. They don’t like combat and can drop Mining Helmets when killed.
Juna
Juna is the guardian of the Tears of Guthix and is the snake that you must talk to to start the Tears of Guthix quest.

Lava maze dungeon is a small dungeon near underneath the lava maze in the wilderness. Unlike the maze itself, the dungeon is not accessible by free players; only members can go down the ladders. The dungeon is separated into two sections separated by a river of lava (two ladders going down). One side has a lever to go to the King Black Dragon (KBD) and is often used by pkers. The other side has a few interesting things too such as a rune rock and a couple black dragons. That section is not frequented much.

——————————————————————————–
Map of the Dungeon
——————————————————————————–
The Main Dungeon
This section of the dungeon, is the biggest. It contains a rune rock, some greater demons and a few black dragons! However, you will have to run past Black Knights, Scorpions, Hill Giants and Lesser Demons through the lava maze to get there!
(1) The Entrance Ladder
You have just entered the Lava Maze dungeon! All around you is orange-hot lava bubbling away. The lava is just like water; you can’t walk in it. You’re going to have to stay on land… There aren’t any monsters yet so there’s nothing to worry about.
(2) The Greater Demons
These guys are pretty scary: they’re huge. They’re level 92 and the place isn’t multi-combat so people can train here if they want. Just watch out for other people there. It is also possible to fight them with a halberd or range them with a bow and arrows. Look at the pictures below to see how to do it.
Ranging:
Watch out though because sometimes they can get through the little passage and attack you. If this happens just run back to the ladder and wait till he goes back to his usual spot.
Halberding:
(3) The Poison Spiders
Watch out for these guys, because they poison quite badly. They come after the greater demons so if you are fighting them, then you won’t encounter them. However, if you are going against the black dragons, you will have to run through them.
(4) The Runite Rock
Finally, the only non-dangerous thing in the dungeon: the runite rock! Or is it? It is not very good to mine the rune here because there are spiders on one side and black dragons on the other! There isn’t much point of this rock in the middle of hell…
(5) The Black Dragons
These level 224 black dragons are by far the most unfriendly things in the dungeon. Even though, they are the most killed things in the dungeon. They drop dragon-hide and dragon bones, both very good and worth a lot. You can melee them up close, but they do a lot of damage so this is NOT recommended. Luckily there is a perfect way to kill them with range or halberd: behind the runite rock! Look at the picture below:
——————————————————————————–
Eastern Dungeon Section
This part of the dungeon has a lot more visitors than the other part, even though it is a lot smaller than the other section. All it has is 5 spiders and a lever! To get to this to the ladder, you have to open a gate, and run a past 4 lesser demons.
(1) Another Entrance Ladder
The second entrance of the dungeon is situated here. You will arrive in the middle of 4 of those spiders and they will attack you momentarily. Once you go down the ladder, get to the lever as quick as possible so that you don’t get attacked by the spiders.
Lever to the King Black Dragon Lair
The lever is placed just south of the ladder on the wall. Thousands of players pull this lever to go the King Black Dragon’s Lair. You will have to adjust the screen to pull the lever, and you cannot pull it at the same time as other players. Beware, because as soon as you pull it, you enter the lair of the King Black Dragon (KBD). In there, not only is there the dreaded level 276 King Black Dragon, but pkers, so watch your step!
——————————————————————————–
Training in the Lava Maze Dungeon
The lava maze dungeon isn’t the best place to train but there aren’t many others so it’s not bad. The only way to train in there is fighting. Read on to find out what you should wear.
Melee Equipment
Firstly, you will need to be a high level to train here. Good armor (rune or better) is required so that you do not lose too much health. A good weapon is also required in case a PKer arrives. Try to wear 3 items. I suggest wearing weapon, legs and body. If you are going to fight the dragons, then you must bring a anti-dragon shield. You may want to bring boots of lightness and/or spotted or spottier cape to be able to run longer. Do not bring teleportation item is required since you cannot teleport after level 20 wilderness.
Here is an example of what warriors should wear wear:

Getting There
The Elemental Workshop Dungeon is located underneath Seers’ Village.
The building next to the bank (in yellow) on the map is where you can find the entrance to the workshop. At the northern end of the building, you’ll find a cracked wall, and to enter you must use a Battered Key with the Odd looking Wall. You can also use a Steel Key Ring with the Wall as long as the Battered Key is on the ring.
Hint: If you don’t have a Battered Key, you can search the bookcase in the building to the south (in magenta) for a book. Use a knife with it to get the Battered Key.
Once through the Wall you must climb down the stairs.
——————————————————————————–
Map of the Dungeon
——————————————————————————–
Inside the Dungeon
Down the stairs you will appear in the center room of the Dungeon. There isn’t really much to do here because everything is in one of the other four rooms.
West Room
In the West room there are Elemental Rocks and Earth Elementals. Elemental Ore is used to make an Elemental Shield.
North Room
The North room has the Water Wheel in it. It is also home to the Water Elementals which always drop a Water filled Vial when they die.
East Room
In the East room are the Bellows. These are fixed during the quest and you can pump then for fun when ever you like just like you can spin the Water Wheel at free will. There are also Air Elementals in this room.
South Room
The South room is the home of the Fire Elementals. There is also the furnace that you smelt your Elemental Bar in this room.
Leaving
To leave just climb up the ladder you used to enter and go through the Wall. No Key is required to leave, just to enter.
——————————————————————————–
Inhabitants
This Dungeon is packed with monsters and they are all either level 34 or 35.
Earth Elemental
Earth Elementals are in the West room and always drop a Rock.
Water Elementals
Water Elementals are in the North room and always drop Water Filled Vials.
Air Elementals
Air Elementals can be found in the East room and don’t have a 100% drop.
Fire Elementals
Fire Elementals can be found in the South room and always drop ashes.

The Entrance to this Dungeon is just west of the Fishing Guild in a Picnic Area. To see the ladder that you climb down to enter you must be wearing a Ring of Visibility (obtained during the Desert Treasure Quest).
What to Bring
If you are just going into the Dungeon for fun, not for Desert Treasure then there are some things that you should bring.
Equipment:
Full Initiate Armour - Prayer Bonus
Ring of Visibility - Without this you can’t get into the Dungeon
Poisoned Dagger - Poison the monsters so they die a painful death
Boots of Lightness - Lowers weight carried
God Book - Prayer Bonus
Inventory:
Runes - To teleport out
Prayer Potions - The only way you are going to survive for very long
Food - Incase you make a mistake and run out of Prayer
——————————————————————————–
Map of the Dungeon
——————————————————————————–
Inside the Dungeon
This Dungeon is packed with level 80 Giant Skeletons and is also home to level 63 Shadow Hounds. When you enter the Dungeon you will appear in the South-West corner and there will be Giant Skeletons scattered around quite a distance apart. The whole of this half of the Dungeon is Single-Combat so you can only get attacked by one Skeleton at a time.
The scenery is the same for the whole of this half of the Dungeon, but when you enter the other half of the dungeon you may feel that you are in another dimension getting hit by monsters constantly.
It is packed to the brim with Giant Skeletons and Shadow Hounds. There are also some level 3 Giant Rats in the South-East corner of the Dungeon for those who have already bitten off all of their finger nails. Only a small proportion of this half is Single-Combat so Protect from Melee is recommended.
Damis’ Room
The room that you fight Damis in is a Multi-Combat Zone. It is packed with Giant Skeletons and Shadow Hounds with more in the North than the South. If you run around in the North half of the room for about 10 seconds then you will have quite a lot of monsters attacking you at once.
If you stay in the room for about 15 minutes then the monsters will stop attacking you, but if you go to the very South of the room or leave the room you will get attacked on first sight. It is recommended in this room to have Protect from Melee Prayer on at all times.
Leaving
There are two ways to leave. The first and recommended way is to teleport out. The second way is to climb the tall ladder that you climbed down to enter.

Once your inside, there is a big variety of rare monsters to train on, such as Fire Giants and Metal Dragons. Occasionally, you will find some vines that will block your pathway. Luckily, if you use a good woodcutting axe, the vines will take no more than three seconds to cut.
Your going to need the objects specified at the beginning of this guide. Also there are some pictures of the dragons below. If you want an in depth guide to dragon hunting this isn’t for you, this is just some basics, here are some in depth guides.
Dragon Hunting
Metal Dragon Hunting
Some General Requirements Are:
- Baby Red Dragons - 60+ Combat
- Bronze Dragons - 65+ Combat
- Red Dragons - 70+ Combat
- Iron Dragons - 75 + Combat
- Steel Dragons - 90+ Combat
Note: All of these require 43 Prayer.
Now you know the requirements you should be ready.
All of the dragons require 43 prayer & An Anti Dragonfire resistant with the exception of the Baby Red Dragon which doesn’t need either. But training on Baby Red’s isn’t advised. If your after Baby Dragon Bones kill Baby Green’s or if you don’t like the wilderness, Baby Blue’s.
Also, both types of Red Dragons are the only dragons accessible without having to go past level 172 Black Demons It seems like a lot but the can’t touch you with prayer.
Most people who come to Brimhaven Dungeon come for the 3 prestigious creatures: the Metal Dragons! If you read the above passage you should know you have to go past level 172 Black Demons but as said before, they can’t touch you with prayer.
Once you’re at the Black Demons, there will be Iron and Steel Dragons to the south, Bronze Dragons to the East, and Red and Baby Red Dragons to the north.

The most frequent request we have received over the last few months has been to put more PvP back into the game. We want to let you know that this request hasn’t gone unheard, and that we’ve put a lot of research into how we can introduce new PvP mechanisms. The aim is for PvP content that better replaces the old Wilderness, but without reintroducing RWT.
Hopefully, you’re already aware of the imminent Clan Wars release (see the September Behind the Scenes in a couple of weeks for more information), but there are also plans afoot for the most exciting and “old school” PvP update we have ever considered – unique PvP worlds.
As many of our long term players know, in the old RuneScape Classic days you could actually fight players just outside the gates of Lumbridge, before the days of duelling and even before the days of the old Wilderness itself. Players could hunt each other down, chasing them away from favourite resource points and generally “owning” large areas of the map.
So, in 2008, we will be bringing you special ‘PvP worlds’, where you can fight other players almost anywhere! In addition to all the usual content you might expect to find in RuneScape, they will also include:
Optional sign-up – choose between PvP danger or stick to ordinary play by simply switching worlds.
High danger with items dropped on death.
High rewards for kills. To avoid any RWT issues the reward for a successful PK will be generated by the game, similar to when you kill a monster at the moment. We’re creating generous drop tables based on factors like your levels and the impressiveness of the kill.
These drop tables will include “PvP world specific” items like XP-modifying gear, lvl 70+ equipment and new, glorious, short-term but hard hitting gear. These will once again make PKing a viable source of income.
PvP across 99% of the world, including the old Wilderness.
Attack any player within a certain level of your own. Level range depends on the area, similar to the old Wilderness levels.
…And all sorts of other twists on interesting content… Just think of the possibilities when you can PK anywhere!
Naturally, we also have other PvP-orientated content, like Stealing Creation (a resource control game where skillers and PKers work together, creating equipment and beating up the opposition) and Mobilising Armies (a real-time strategy game where you use your hard made bows, swords, etc. to equip your own armies in 4-player battles).
Add all this to a healthy schedule of quests (featuring Arrav and the sequel to Spirit of Summer), holiday events and some unique puzzle content… and the rest of ‘08 has something for almost everyone.
Finally, we’d like to let you in on a little secret – we’re currently working on our highest level, longest, most exciting quest ever. Not necessarily for launch in ‘08 (it’s not something we want to rush, after all), it’s already had more development time than the entirety of “Recipe for Disaster”… but you’ll have to wait to find out more. We’re adding secret hints and references all the time about this one, so if you need to know more, just look around! Leave no stone unturned….

Did you know that there is a Dungeon under the Temple on the Ape Atoll? This dungeon is used for two quests, Monkey Madness and Recipe For Disaster. Wall of Flames
This is used in the Monkey Madness Quest, at the part when you have to make the amulet. Besides that, it is not used for anything else.
An ‘Exit’
No this is not the way out of the Dungeon, its a crack that you can squeeze through which leads you to a separate room. Make sure that you are a Zombie Monkey (like in the picture) as there is lava on the floor which you need to cross. If you are not in Zombie Monkey form when crossing this, you will get hurt badly. There is a Rock in the middle of the room which you use during Recipe for Disaster to cook the King’s Meal. This room has no other purpose.
Inaccessible Door
There is a inaccessible door if you follow the passage down. Currently this has none known purposes but who knows? Later on it might be used in a new sequel to Monkey Madness! You can still see what is in the other room though. Nothing really apart from Monkey Zombies, but if you look closely you might see a Monkey Skull. Ooo, Spooky.
Leaving the Dungeon
Go back to the start of the Dungeon where you first came in and you should see a Climbing-Rope. Climb up it and you should be back where you started - in the Temple.
