Since the release of Dungeoneering, a plethora of adventurers have been delving the depths of Daemonheim and uncovering its many secrets. As we’ve watched and listened to the feedback of these adventurers and observed how they’ve been reacting, we came up with a bunch of cool ideas of how we could improve the Dungeoneering experience, and so, alongside building the new content for the batch 2 release, we’ve been working on doing them! These updates are in addition to the new floors, challenge rooms and bosses that we’ll be adding to Daemonheim as part of Dungeoneering batch 2, and are likely to be added to the game before batch 2 comes out.

That takes class

Work-in-progress ring interface
One thing we’ve noticed when watching people play together in parties is that they often specialise in certain roles to help each other out – things like warriors in heavy armour protecting the more vulnerable mages and rangers while also dealing damage, or other players preventing skillers from being attacked while they’re providing their party with tasty fish, protective gear and sharp sticks to poke their enemies with.

We thought it would be nice to encourage and reward these player-created classes, so we’ve been hard at work designing a system to upgrade your Ring of Kinship (using Dungeoneering tokens) for use inside a dungeon.

These upgrades will allow you to specialise in a role, and will provide unique benefits for doing so. There will be specialisations available for each type of player in Daemonheim – be you a noble warrior, an archer extraordinaire, a prodigal mage or an artisan of non-combat skills, there’s a Ring of Kinship for you!

Are you constantly slaving over a hot furnace to make items, and wish you could waste less material, and maybe squeeze an extra dagger out of those five bars you made into a platebody? There’s a Ring of Kinship for that! Do you spend a lot of time behind a kiteshield, taking all the attacks that would otherwise smush your magic-wielding partner, and wish you could take less damage to make your food last longer? There’s a Ring of Kinship for that! Or perhaps you simply spend a lot of time sniping enemies from a distance, and wish your arrows would fly straighter and truer to deal your maximum potential damage more often? There’s a Ring of kinship for that, too!

Building the future

Groupstone portal
We noticed that one of the most common things said is that getting around dungeons could be easier. This is what we originally introduced the Gatestone spell for, but it soon became evident that it wasn’t sufficient. For a start, it has a Magic level requirement, plus it takes quite a few different runes.

We also noticed that a few skills – namely Herblore, Farming and Construction – weren’t being used as much as we had anticipated within Daemonheim. We deduced that this too was because of accessibility – most skills can be performed within the start room, but Farming and, therefore, Herblore could not, and you can’t make potions if you don’t have herbs!

On top of this, we realised that the only use for Construction in Daemonheim is in skill challenges. While these do benefit the party by allowing progress, there’s nothing that a high Construction level can do for you unless you happen to come across a very specific challenge.

With these issues in mind we came up with something pretty nifty: a Construction hotspot in the start room!

This hotspot will start life as a ‘Groupstone portal’, a conduit anyone can use to teleport to the new Groupstone (which is similar to the Gatestone, except that everyone in the group can use it and it will never shatter on use). The hotspot can be replaced with various other states, including a Farming patch or a Cooking range. We’ve also had a second look at the rune cost of the Create Gatestone spell to make it more accessible.

Daemonheim and beyond

A surface dungeon entrance
We’ve taken some time to consider the surface world applications of Dungeoneering – things your character can do outside of Daemonheim thanks to their hard work at levelling the new skill. We’ve come up with the concept of reward dungeons.

Several places across RuneScape will have extra nooks and crannies added that only those skilled in delving the depths of Daemonheim will fathom how to enter. These areas may contain a few extra spawns of that over-camped monster you’re trying to kill; or perhaps some additional resources for you to collect with less competition from other players; or maybe, just maybe, a fearsome creature new to the surface of RuneScape, freshly escaped from the frozen depths of Daemonheim itself!

What’s in a name?
We’ve also been wracking our brains to come up with some new awards for the dungeon end interface (or, as we affectionately call it, the ‘WIN-terface’), so that you can have all new reasons to show off to your friends (or hang your head in shame) after a bout of Dungeoneering.

Here I go again on my own
And, last but not least, we haven’t forgotten the plight of all you solo adventurers. From a technical standpoint, we’ve been making a fair bit of progress with allowing single players to re-enter dungeons after disconnecting; however, this is a very big project and is technically very costly, so it will still take us some time to perfect the system. As such, this particular update may not be released at the same time as everything else covered in this blog. All we can do is thank you for your patience and assure you that we are definitely working on it .

We’d best get coding…

Well, that’s enough blogging for now. All this awesome stuff isn’t going to code itself!

Castle Wars received a number of improvements late last week, making it a very desirable location to be (and own), which begs the question: which of the three Triumvirate factions has the right to claim it? Is it the place for the sport of Lords, a violent courtroom for the Judges to sentence and execute their fellows, or an excuse for the Reavers to have a good old punch-up? It’s a tough question that requires a tough response, and that response is…the Castle Wars Triumvirate Challenge!

This weekend (Friday 4th to Sunday 6th June), members of the three Triumvirate factions will meet to take part in 27 Castle Wars battles across three game worlds (and three time zones), supported by J-Mods from each faction.

Full sign-up details for this challenge can be found on the Castle Wars Triumvirate Challenge thread, on which you’ll also find more information on where and when each battle is set to take place.

To take part in this challenge, though, you’ll first need to become a member of one of the three Triumvirate factions – Reavers, Judges or Lords – if you’ve not already done so. You can do this on the main Triumvirate thread.

May the best faction win!

We’ve taken a careful look at the extreme Herblore potions we released a few weeks ago and have now reintroduced them to safe PvP minigames – that includes Castle Wars, Soul Wars, safe free-for-all Clan Wars battles, TzHaar Fight Pit, and the Duel Arena (but not ‘no-potion’ fights or Tournaments).

As part of this, we’ve slightly changed the way in which the extreme magic potion works – it now provides a visible Magic stat boost of 7, which decreases over time as with other stat-boosting potions. The normal magic potion’s level boost has been increased to +5. We have, however, also made a change to the Magic skill itself, so that if your Magic level is boosted by any means, you will inflict +3% magic damage per boosted level. This is on top of the +10% magic damage you inflict when wielding certain staves.

Part of the reason for these changes is that we’ve added four new high-level elemental battle spells to the standard spellbook. The Wind Surge (level 81), Water Surge (level 85), Earth Surge (level 90) and Fire Surge (level 95) spells each require one blood and one death rune, and some air runes (and some water, earth or fire runes for those respective elemental spells).

The max hit of Fire Surge is:
28 without boosts
30 with a magic damage-boosting staff
33 with extreme magic/overload
37 with both extreme magic/overload and a magic damage-boosting staff

With those updates, you’re going to need some more runes, so, to top it all off, Runecrafting also gets a tweak. As of today, crafting multiple runes out of one essence has changed for the better. Before, you would only gain the ability to craft an extra rune at specific Runecrafting levels (e.g. 2 air runes at level 11, 3 air runes at level 22, 4 at level 33, and so on). Now, there is a ‘chance’ of getting an extra rune on ‘some’ of your essences if you are between those set levels, with that chance increasing as your level increases (e.g. at Runecrafting levels 12-21, you will gain 2 or 3 air runes per essence). If you want to imagine it visually, what used to be a step graph has been smoothed out into a curve. This is explained in a little more detail in the Game Guide, but the bottom line is that you’ll receive more runes for your hard work.

Okay, first things first, whatever you’re going to train on, make sure it has low attack and defense. I say this because it is a common mistake to train on zombies and guards, both of which can hit often and depending on your defense, relatively high. So, taking all this into consideration, you will want something that has low defense, attack and strength, but high hitpoints.

Members, for you this is extremely easy. Chickens, goblins and low level spiders in the lumbridge area until you get to 15, after that, go to Fremmenik, and kill rock crabs. Eventually the crabs will stop attacking you, when this happens, go into the cave (just a bit east, if you start going up the mountain, you’ve gone too far) and come right back out and you will find that they attack again. If you took the route through Fremmenik itself, just go south until you reach the market square.
Best Items to Lend »Free Players, for you (well, as of last friday us X’( ) I had to do some research myself. So in my research, I found some problems, namely that there is no creature that fits that description, so for you (us) I suggest the same thing as members, until you get to 15, after that, alas, it gets difficult, this will take MUCH longer than members but is worth it if you want a higher level  player, it makes pking a lot easier. So, after level 15, start chopping logs, get your woodcutting skill up to 60, start cutting yews, make at least 150,000 gold, (if you already have tons of gold disregard that last part) and buy lots of food, I use swordfish, and go to the barbarian village. Once you are there, go down the opening in the center of the village. Welcome to the Stronghold of Security, start training all of your skills until they are all at 40. Go back to the Grand Exchange. Purchase a rune halberd if you are melee, more runes if you mage and more arrows and a better bow if you prefer ranging. Once you have your equipment, go south to the wizards tower. (there will be no need for food) Once you are at the tower, go to the top level. Attack the lesser demon, it will take time, but you will eventually get there.

The Runescape Pink Party Hat Dupe (November 7, 2003)
Nowadays, people may tell you that they can duplicate an item and make you rich. That is not possible anymore, but this Runescape glitch was in the past! Before, there was a minor bug in Jagex’s code, which a few people found out and took advantage of. This bug allowed any non-stackable item to be duplicated, which meant these people could use the identification code of expensive items and make as many as they wanted. Soon enough, the magenta partyhat (people called them pink) moved from being the most expensive partyhat to the cheapest partyhat. The magenta partyhat moved from about 5 million gold to only 200k gold in a matter of days and caused a big dent in the economy. Apparently, these newly duplicated items looked exactly like the original, so Jagex couldn’t tell who had the real partyhats and who didn’t. Now to this day, the magenta partyhats are now of a darker shade and are still the cheapest partyhat because there are a lot more of them than the other partyhats.

The Falador Massacre (June 6, 2006)
On the “day of the devil,” was the day Cursed You was celebrating his accomplishment of achieving level 99 construction before everyone else on Runescape. However, it wasn’t all fun and games when some people found a glitch that let them go playerkilling outside of the wilderness. Durial321 and a couple others used this bug to attack and kill people scattered across Falador. People lost all sorts of valuable items because of this bug and soon demanded a rollback. Apparently, this memorable catastrophe occurred during the middle of the night for most of Jagex staff members. It was too late to have a rollback, but Jagex did what they could and eventually had Durial321 banned, possibly along with others. Sadly, the people killed that day did not receive their lost items back, but Jagex will do what they can to make sure this won’t happen again.

Other Runescape Bugs & Glitches
In the month of January 2007, a rollback occurred, which affected a handful of members playing at the time. This meant that the last few hours were practically erased completely, and all the things that players did in that time were gone. In addition to experience lost, it was reported that some items were duplicated in the process. For example, if someone were to sell a white partyhat to someone else during this time, the seller would get to keep the white partyhat and the money while the buyer also had a white partyhat.

During late March 2007, there were several small graphic glitches and so Jagex staff used to Wise Old Man to fix them. It appeared that they coded the character of this NPC to “watch over” the glitches and make sure they didn’t happen again. One example was in world 82, where many people were able to walk on the water by Catherby fishing spots. Mod Ash soon patched up the problem and stuck the Wise Old Man there and made him run some code to fetch stuck people out of the water. There were also a few hidden system updates were Jagex quickly fixed the bugs and put the Wise Old Man back in Draynor.

Fishing is one my best skills because i make alot of money off of it. Fishing is very useful because if we had no fish in runescape we would be eating cake and all that other crap. Sharks and Monk fish are the best to eat while in combat because it heals about 20 of your hp.  But anyways lets get started on your journey to 99 fishing.

You can fish sharks at 76 but it takes to much time just to get 1 shark.  That?s why you fish it at level 85 because you?ll get it faster then at level 76 trust me.  Bank your sharks as you will make more money than you ever had made in a while.  Shark gloves help you if you want them.  They just give you extra 100 xp per shark.  Place is the fishing guild. (Harpoon needed to fish sharks.)

You can break Summoning 2 into two halves. The first is a rebalancing of the skill using your feedback. We have chosen to do this because we wanted Summoning to be one of the most well-loved and appreciated skills, so your help was needed to get it back on track.

What did we find out from the Forums? You told us that familiars did not stick around for long enough before they disappeared, and that renewing them was often a pain. With this update, each familiar stays out for a set period of time, regardless of the summoner’s skill level, so there is no need to renew your familiar. The period that each familiar stays summoned has, in general, been increased – the spirit dagannoth, for example, stays out for a whopping 57 minutes!

Secondly, you told us that summoning familiars just wasn’t rewarding enough. With the rebalancing, we have given each familiar a stand-out ability that makes them well worth summoning – a feature that budding Pikkupstixes have been eager for. You will now find that Summoning a creature is far more preferable to either selling the pouch or high-alching it.

Many of you felt that combat familiars should give combat XP. We definitely agree, so each combat familiar now gives XP when they cause damage. The amount is equal to how much you would have received, had you done the damage yourself. The experience will be in one of the combat skills, which depends on your choice of familiar – the spirit jelly, for example, gives XP in the Strength stat.

Taking your combat familiar into battle will reveal our next improvement: each creature is significantly tougher. They can soak up damage like never before and many will hit harder, making them more than useful for challenges like the God Wars. We can only encourage you to try them out and see just how improved their combat abilities are.

Acquiring charms has been made easier this week, with charm drops added to nearly 20 of our Slayer creatures. For those who prefer sleight of hand over the crossing of swords, we have also added charms to the Dorgesh-Kaan chests, so thieves can access them, too.

Recharging Summoning points has been made easier, with miniature obelisks scattered across the world to keep you topped up; you can now summon familiars almost anywhere and take them with you without worrying too much about having to dismiss them; buttons have been added to help you ‘dump’ items from your familiar to your inventory and your familiar to your bank; headgear and headdresses can hold more scrolls per item; many existing helmets can be enchanted to hold scrolls; and some of the familiars’ inventories have been expanded to a jaw-dropping 30 slots, so your pak yak can now hold more than you can

Many people who have ever survived the wilderness would tell you that it’s not filled with anything interesting. But it is! The wilderness used to be the center of pking, but now it is a place for tons of adventure, with revenants roaming around. Some parts of the wilderness are ONLY available to members.

The beings: The wilderness is filled with vicious monsters and ghosts, but if you know where they are and what they do, it’s quite easy to avoid/defeat them. First off, there is the revenants, which are probably the most dangerous. The revenants come in a variety of levels, from revenant imps to dragons. They use all three of the combat types: Magic, ranged, and melle, so even if you put the protect prayer on, the revenants will change the attacks. These are also VERY strong for their level, and should not be underestimated. In the beginning, there were many revenant hunters because no one knew their drops, but as soon as everyone knew that the drops were not worthwhile, the numbers of revenant hunters have depleted. Other monsters also exist in the wild, like the KBD (king black dragon), demons, giants, chaos elemental, and ghosts. There are also normal people like monks, and zamorakian followers.

The places: Most of the things in the wilderness are broken and old, but you can find interesting places like the magic battle arena, the demonic ruins, bounty hunter, and clan wars. There are also certain locations that can be found that are not that useful, yet are landmarks like the ruined church, graveyard, and others.

Stuff to do: In the wilderness there are certain things to do like play bounty hunter, which was a game released to sort of act as pking, clan wars, or revenant hunt. One of the best things that many like to do is to just adventure. The whole point of wilderness nowadays after the pk update would be to kill the demons, while slaying revenants along the way. There is also a fishing place east of deep wilderness, where you don’t have to go to the bank and buy lobsters.

So now that you are finished learning about the wilderness, why not walk out of the safety of Varrokand go explore?

I hope you learned a lot. Good luck on making your potions!I recommend you buy runescape gold and cheap runescape accounts, for our website has run gold business for a very long time and shares good delivery reputation. You can come and have a look !Lots of runescape money and runescape items is supplied for you.

Required Items: One Roe or One Caviar, and One Attack Potion(2)
Required Skills: Level 4 Herblore and Completion of the Barbarian Pole Fishing task

To begin this task, just as any other, you need to speak with Otto. Otto will tell you that the Barbarian way of potion-making is, indeed, different than the normal way. Otto will tell you that he wants you to bring him an Attack potion mix.

If you do not already have an Attack potion(2) (from drinking off excess doses), you can use a 4-dose potion on an empty vial. The potion will decant into both vials, creating two 2-dose potions! (This works with any 4-dose potion.)

Get a Roe or Caviar from Barbarian Pole Fishing and use it on an Attack potion(2). Give it to Otto and you have completed this task!

After this, you can add Caviar (or Roe in some cases) to any 2-dose potion to make it a “Fishy mix”. This adds a healing boost to each dose. For more detailed information, check out our Herblore Guide (Fish Potions).
