Hi, and welcome back to the Behind the Scenes! We used to publish articles like this to let you know about upcoming updates, so you could plan ahead. For a number of reasons, we tried other ways of talking about content, but nothing was as popular as the Behind the Scenes. But now…it’s back!

Behind the Scenes – June

Characters from RuneScape are due to be arrested for crimes ranging from Littering to Assault & Battery, and will need a hero to represent them. To prosecute or defend their cases, you’ll need to obtain a ‘court summons’ from Treasure Trails, by pickpocketing NPCs or from a few other methods. After gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, comparing fingerprints and identifying weak members of the Jury, you’ll have the chance to prove their innocence or send them away for a very long time. The choice is entirely yours, and healthy doses of Attack or Defence XP await those clever enough to solve the case.

The cases are written to make you think and raise a chuckle, so we’re hoping you’ll enjoy solving them as much as we enjoyed writing them. Fancy prosecuting the Drunken Dwarf for disruptive behaviour? Perhaps you feel his freedom to call everyone “matey” and ram kebabs in their hands is a basic Dwarven Right (don’t worry, it won’t result in the return of him as a random event). Thanks to everyone who gave us feedback after reading the blog: it really helped to shape the content, especially in terms of where the court summons drops come from.

The first courtroom launch will feature 5 different cases and a new piece of costume. You can expect more cases over the next twelve months: we have 16 cases planned in total!

Also this month, we will be introducing ancient effigies to the game, available through high-level combat. These objects ask very experienced (level 91-97) players to use a variety of skills to engage in a little restoration. Players with insufficient skill levels will still be able to use the Assist System to work at the effigy and claim the benefits. Naturally, asking for skills of these kinds of levels makes for some very generous XP rewards.

After 2008’s Spirit of Summer and Summer’s End quests, and the Mysteries of the Mahjarrat quests in 2009, we decided to release another complete quest series this year. As usual, we want to outdo ourselves and, rather than settle for a storyline made up of just quests, we have decided to make three quests and a related activity! Throughout the series, you’ll learn more about the different orders of knights in the game and the relationship between them all, especially regarding the mysterious Void Knights and their pests.

June will see the launch of the first of these quests – Quiet Before the Swarm: an ‘intermediate level’ quest (the highest requirement is 42 Strength) that is heavily puzzle and story-oriented, linking to favourite characters of ours like Sir Tiffy. There’s no equipment preparation needed for the quest, aside from completing (but not necessarily winning) a single game of Pest Control. In other news…

Some of the ‘In other news…’ you can expect to see this month will be: adding a waypoint marker to your world map; making it easier to get hunter supplies from the penguin areas; and adding new functionality to the Orb of Oculus (machinima camera). We’ve also opened RS Classic sign-up until Tuesday 15th June for any members who fancy a nostalgic trip to yesteryear.

If community events are more your type of thing, why not get involved in our Triumvirate community game? There are a series of events happening, focusing on three factions – the Reavers, Lords and Judges. These events are run and organised by our Player Support teams and you, the players. This weekend sees a huge series of 27 Castle Wars battles, making use of last week’s Castle Wars update (originally intended for a June launch, but launched a week early for you to war over the Bank Holiday weekend). Use a less-populated world for best chances. You may get lucky and wind up as each other’s target. This is best, then you just teleport to the target, and you don’t get a penalty after killing them.

2) Transfer relatively small amounts each time (~1 mil) in case you get jumped and lose your items.

3) Do it on non-member’s world, so the other people in the cave will be less powerful (no ancient magic, whips, etc).

4) Bring lots of food and good armor / weps on your lvl96 in case you get attacked while waiting out your penalty.

5) Bring good food on your lvl 54 (wear full rune too) in case you get attacked trying to find the lvl96.

6) Do your fighting away from the cave wall, so that other people don’t see you.

Party room won’t work. Other people are always there, and they’ll get most of the money.

Staking is limited to same amount as trading, and the limit is 30k (assuming both have like 200 quest pts).

And as you say, drop trading doesn’t work.

So that leaves Bounty Hunter. Your best bet for transferring it.

Okay, first things first, whatever you’re going to train on, make sure it has low attack and defense. I say this because it is a common mistake to train on zombies and guards, both of which can hit often and depending on your defense, relatively high. So, taking all this into consideration, you will want something that has low defense, attack and strength, but high hitpoints.

Members, for you this is extremely easy. Chickens, goblins and low level spiders in the lumbridge area until you get to 15, after that, go to Fremmenik, and kill rock crabs. Eventually the crabs will stop attacking you, when this happens, go into the cave (just a bit east, if you start going up the mountain, you’ve gone too far) and come right back out and you will find that they attack again. If you took the route through Fremmenik itself, just go south until you reach the market square.

(there will be no need for food) Once you are at the tower, go to the top level. Attack the lesser demon, it will take time, but you will eventually get there.

Are you frustrated with rocks intimidating you with their weird colors? Follow my guide to give them what they deserve, while profiting from them.

Level 1-6:

If you plan on training mining only, then you can do the rune mysteries quest and mine rune essence to sell for 35 each. If you plan on training mining and smithing, then mine copper and tin (Falador mine is best due to the proximity of the bank and the furnace) to make into bronze bars that can be sold for 100 each. Check the forums on Runescape to find bronze bar buyers (you don’t have to be a member).

Level 6-21:

Either way, by this time you should have enough money to buy a steel pickaxe from Nurmof (inside the Falador mine). Use the steel pickaxe and continue mining the essence or copper and tin.

Level 21-31:

Now, go buy a mithril pickaxe from Nurmof with the money you’ve earned and use it to mine iron rocks in the southern portion of the Falador mine (low level miners mine here). Sell the iron ore at Falador bank for 100 each on world 1-5 (whichever isn’t full when you look).

Level 31-41:

Go buy an adamant pickaxe from Nurmof with your money. Mine the iron in the northern portion of Falador mine now. If the scorpions hurt you too much, then you can still mine the iron where you were before.

Level 41-60:

Go buy a rune pickaxe from Nurmof or from players for 32k (32,000 coins) if there isn’t one at his shop. Mine any coal rocks you can find (many coal rocks will be used by higher-level miners). Sell the coal for 180 each on worlds 1-5. An alternative may be to mine gold rocks in the crafting guild if you have over level 40 crafting or anywhere else you can find them. You can then sell the gold ores for 450-500 each (just find a buyer in the forums).

Level 60-70:

You now have access to the mining guild. There are 37 coal rocks and 5 mithril rocks in the mine. You can continue to mine coal or gold, but you can also mine mithril rocks that sell for 400 each on the forums.

Level 70-85:

You can continue mining the rocks you did from level 60-70; however, at level 70 you can mine adamantite ores that sell for over 1k each.

Level 85+:

Congratulations, you can mine rune; however, for f2p (free to play) players, the only rune rocks are found in high wilderness. The ores can be sold for 12k each, so it’s your choice to mine them or not.

Fishing is one my best skills because i make alot of money off of it. Fishing is very useful because if we had no fish in runescape we would be eating cake and all that other crap. Sharks and Monk fish are the best to eat while in combat because it heals about 20 of your hp.  But anyways lets get started on your journey to 99 fishing.

You can fish sharks at 76 but it takes to much time just to get 1 shark.  That?s why you fish it at level 85 because you?ll get it faster then at level 76 trust me.  Bank your sharks as you will make more money than you ever had made in a while.  Shark gloves help you if you want them.  They just give you extra 100 xp per shark.  Place is the fishing guild. (Harpoon needed to fish sharks.)
