The Stronghold of Player Safety is an accompaniment to the popular Stronghold of Security dungeon. It has two floors that are packed with strong, mighty monsters that are available for you to kill. It is accessible to anyone in Runescape, and the only requirement to enter it is the completion of the Stronghold of Player Safety Test. Everyone is free to have fun, and train on the monsters that are located in this dungeon.

Also, when entering the dungeon you receive the “Safety in Numbers” music track.

Getting There

The dungeon is located just north of Barbarian Village and just south of Edgeville under the Misthalin Training Centre of Excellence. The entrance to the dungeon is a secret tunnel behind a poster which is inside a goblin prison cell. The dungeon is accessible after taking the Stronghold of Player Safety Test.

Stronghold of Player Safety Test

Enter the Stronghold of Player Safety through the coal shoot behind the building and talk to the Guard by the stairway. He’ll have you read each of the plaques that are outside of the convicted goblins’ prison cells. The plaques describe the individual crimes the goblins committed. Then go up the stairs by the Guard. Talk to Professor Henry and agree to take the Stronghold of Player Safety Test.

The answers to the test are below, with the correct answer to each question italicized.

Question 1:
A player has just asked you for your personal details, including your phone number, home address and email address. What should you do?
A: Give them my personal details
B: Say “No” or ignore them
C: Say “No” and ask for their details

Question 2:

C: Use the Report Abuse button to report the player and then add them to my Ignore List

Question 9:
You are asked for your full name and date of birth by a player that you have been chatting with for a short while. Should you give them these details?
A: No. the player could use my information to steal my identity. I don’t want anyone pretending to be me.

Inside the Dungeon

Enter the dungeon through the poster on the wall of the empty prison cell. You will then be on the second floor of the dungeon and you should see a band of muggers (level 6.) You can continue your way across the channel of rooms and follow a balcony which then leads onto the cockroach drones (level 8.) To continue onto different monsters, you will have to go down the flight of stairs which are located at the center of the balcony.

The ground level is full of cockroach drones (level 8,) and cockroach workers (level 56.) Cockroach workers are larger in size than the cockroach drones and are good experience for medium-leveled players. Along the ground level are cells in which cockroaches inhabit.

Collecting Adamant Arrows

Addy arrows are the best arrows for F2P rangers, and it’s no wonder that they go on the market as the highest price arrow for F2P players. Addy Arrows currently go for about 120GP each (click here for updated prices). It’s easy to see how someone who might come upon thousands of these arrows could make a fortune.

Collecting Addy Arrows is fast and easy money-making method, and you could begin making a fortune from this method very quickly. The question that might be bugging you is how you can come upon these arrows. The solution to this problem is simple: Bounty Hunters.

There are many high level players in Bounty Hunters who shoot off Adamant Arrows and are too rich or careless to pick up them up. There are so many arrows in fact, one can obtain over a thousand arrows in less than an hour. And with prices like 120GP per arrow, that means over 120,000 GP made PER HOUR!

But you can’t just run into the Bounty Hunters arena and start collecting. There are a few things you should know first if you want to avoid dying and losing your arrows in the arena. Here are some tips you should follow to optimize your arrow-collecting endevours:

Tip #1 - Aim to be in the med-level crater (CB Level of 65-100), as that is the level range where most rangers like to leave and forget about their Adamant Arrows on the floor.

Tip #2 - Wear a tank ranger outfit, as most people hate going against tank rangers. This will greatly reduce your chance of getting attacked, and as a result, greatly reduce your chances of dying.

Tip #3 - Take good food. Pack your whole inventory, except for four slots, with good food (preferably lobsters and swordfishes).

Tip #4 - Take Bounty Locate Spells. If you can cast Bounty Locate (level 32 magic spell), take the runes used for them. There countless times when I have escaped a strong foe by just teleporting right before he/she attacked me. The Bounty Locate spell requires 1 Air, 1 Fire, and 1 Law Rune.

Tip #5 - Stay near the walls. Doing so means that you will be able to escape anytime. Say a strong opponent is attacking you and won’t stop attacking. Don’t waste your good food that cost you good money to obtain! Just leave the crater and come back in!

As long as you don’t get a pick-up penalty, staying close to the wall ensures your survival, as you can leave anytime with the amount of arrows you have collected.

Tip #6 - Don’t try to kill others. Killing others is not the point of this method. If you try to kill others, you could jeopardize the hard-work you have done. Say you collected 500 Adamant Arrows and you decide to attack someone. You think you can beat the person, but all of a sudden you die for whatever reason (someone teleported and attacked you, you were double teamed, you didn’t eat your food on time, or w/e). Now, not only have you lost whatever you were wearing, but you also lost all the Adamant Arrows you were collecting in your inventory. Bottom Line: Avoid Conflict.

Tip #7 - Bank now and then. Even though with these tips, you are unlikely to die, it’s best to bank now and then. There always might be an unforeseen chance of you dying, and when you die, you don’t want to lose all the arrows you spent an hour collecting. So play it safe, and bank the arrows once you feel that you have a valuable amount. You never know when lag can strike ;)

With these tips, you will be a guaranteed Adamant Arrow collecting machine. To get you in the spirit of collecting, lets see how much we’ll make!

know it’s been a while since i posted an article on TRB and i thought that this might be the right time. With the new HD graphics update and all the changes that Runescape has concured this year. As you guys might know, or maybe you probably dont. You probably don’t but yeah, im the creator of RuneSociety and as an admin, im really starting to get the impression that Jagex is slowly killing off RuneScape Help. Why? Well, im not completely certian of course, and this article is mostly alot of my opinion instead of fact, but i think it will really make you think. Over the course of the years, RuneScape Help has been a driving factor in the growth of RuneScape. Even if someone doesn’t play the game itself, they would join a forum like RuneSociety and just simply hang out with the crowd and eventually get into the game at least a bit. So lets talk about some of the actions Jagex has taken and are taking to try and possibly destroy 3rd party help.

The Grand Exchange - Database

Yeah, we all have our complaints about the in-game trading system now, but now lets talk about the tool they recently’ released, the Grand Exchange Database. For players, this is a miracle-ish type thing, you can easily check an items value and history and would kind of resemble a RuneScape wall-street tool. So in a sense, thats great and all right? Well yeah for the players of course, but with the coming of this also created the death of another. As some of us may know, Zybez was the first RuneScape helpsite to create such a tool, and many many players used it, they worked really hard to keep it up to date, seeing as they have to gather data manually rather than have it easily accessable like Jagex, its easy to say that Zybez put alot of work into their tool. Now this Grand Exchange DB came out, and i won’t deny that its more accurate and useful but it also is another major supporter of my theory. Now onto the next piece of evidence

The Knowledge Base

This was first introduced as a replacement for the game manual but this thing is slowly evolving in my opinion to a fully blown mini help site tool. To be really picky, they have their “Quest Help” tool, which supposedly helps players get past parts of quests that they find confusing, what does this remind you of? RuneScape Help of couse! Except this is Jagex’s version with a little kick to make sure that players play their game more instead of reading a guide and just completing the quest. Then they have their game manual that pretty much tells players anything they really need to know about the game.

So what is the point of this article you may think? Well, in a sense Jagex can really never shut down all the fansites but the things they are doing are helping to drive 3rd party help into extinction, afterall, when a new player signs up, and they need help, the first place their going to probably look now is the RuneScape website, and if jagex keeps on improving, the player will have everything they need at the Runescape website. Maybe this isn’t a loss, maybe its a gain, or it could be the other way around, but it depends on how you interpret these types of events.

We’d like to hear what you think.

When you run around in Runescape, and see other players running around, the level you see in conjunction with their player name is that player’s combat level. When someone asks you what level you are without specifying a skill, that’s generally what level they’re talking about. And in the Wilderness, it’s your combat level that plays in to who can and cannot attack you as you wander about in the wild.

Combat level is raised along with your regular skills, but it is not a specific skill of its own like mining or smithing or fishing - it’s actually something that a number of different skills all add up and create. The following skills all contribute to your Combat Level rating:

Attack
Strength
Defense
Prayer
Magic
Ranged

So, if any of these skills are low, they will bring down your “combat average” which makes up your Combat Level.

Note, that “pure” players may therefore have quite high levels in any one or two skills but their Combat Level would be deceivingly low for how much they could hurt you in the Wilderness with those specifically-trained skills.

Never underestimate your opponent, and never let anyone taunt you into the Wilderness with them. Play smart!

Tutorial Island

On the Runescape Training Island, you can NOT go higher in any skill than level three (3). Not even one point higher. On the training island all skills are capped at level three (3).

You can melee kill as many rats as you want, and you don’t even have to use food to heal with because you will never go below one (1) hitpoint. In otherwords, you won’t die fighting rats on Training Island.

You can collect all the inventory items you want while on the island, but when you leave the island you will end up on the mainland with the following items in your inventory:

one bronze wood cutting axe
one tinder box
one small fishing net
one cooked shrimp
one bucket
one pot
one cooked bread
one pickaxe
one bronze dagger
one bronze sword
one wooden shield
one short bow
twenty five (25) arrows
twenty five (25) air runes
fifteen (15) body runes
six (6) water runes
four (4) earth runes
two (2) body runes

and in the mainland banks you will find:

twenty five (25) coins

Any stockpiles you made to your inventory, regardless of whether you stockpiled arrows, shrimp, bread, bronze bars or whatever, will NOT reach the mainland with you. You will get exactly that which I listed above and not a bit more.

Fishing skill-ups are a little faster on Training Island than on the mainland, and so are fire skill-ups, but leveling attack, strength, and defense are slower because you hit less often than you would with either normal rats or chickens on the mainland. This same slowness could apply to ranged, but killing chickens with free runes from the wizard might be worth considering.

But truthfully, my recommendation would have to be not to waste your time on Training Island. On Training Island you can’t get loot to make money with. In the low level mainland areas, you can get loot from your kills, and loot from the kills of other players who just leave it on the ground.

And one last thing, the very easiest and quickest way for a “newbie,” at least on the f2p (free to play) servers, to earn money is probably one of the most boring. It works like this:

Step 1) You get the “Rune Mysteries Quest” from Duke Horacio on the 2nd floor of the castle. (The castle you ended up in front of when came off Training Island.) You take the talisman the duke gives you to the head wizard, Sedridor, in the Wizards Tower south of Draynor Village. Sedridor wants you to take a package to Aubury, the owner of a rune shop in north east Varrock, and gives you directions to Varrock. (In the last update, Runescape made the barbarians hostile and they will now aggro newbies, so if you can’t figure out how to avoid their village, don’t walk through it, run.) When you find Aubury, keep in mind where he’s located, and that there is a bank just north of him. Aubury gives you his notes and asks you to give them to Sedridor. Take them to Sedridor and in return he gives you the privilage of being teleported to the rune essence stones via various npc’s.

Step 2) The the boring, but rewarding part. Go to the bank and store everything but your pickaxe. Wield your pickaxe. Your inventory should now be empty, the pickaxe in your hand. Go to one of the teleportation npc’s and get teleported to the rune essence stones. Mine the essence (ess), fill your inventory, then use the teleportation device back to the teleporting npc. Next, go to the bank and store the twenty eight (28) ess you’ve mined. Now go back to the teleporting npc and repeat this operation thirty five (35) times. (I said it was boring.) 8-)

NOTE: Don’t try to sell until you have at least 1000 ess. Buyers don’t like piddly amounts, and you can always take breaks if it gets to boring. Oh, I almost forgot, you should be able to sell your one thousand (1000) ess for thirty thousand (30,000) if your patient–most likely to just a single buyer. If you are willing to sell for less, don’t let them get you down to low, because there are buyers that will turn around and sell the thousand essences’s they bought from you for 35,000.

Good hunting.

Walkthrough
1. Teleport to the Ectofunctus using your ectophial. Refill it, and head northeast. You should see a dock with Pirate Pete on the docks. Talk to him for awhile and you’ll start the quest.

He’ll start talking to you about recovering a family sword… and a big monster. (Later on you find out it has nothing to do with the quest) He hits you on the head and you get on the pirate ship.

2. You’ll be on a ship with Captain Braindeath. Talk to him for awhile and you’ll get a blindseed for growing blindweed. (An ingredient in the rum) Go to the southern steps and go outside. You’ll see a lot of zombie protesters. Find the eastern farming patch. (The western and eastern farming patches are right next to each other) All the farming areas but one are trashed. Use the only non trashed farming area for raking the blindweed and planting it.

After you plant it it takes around 4 minutes to grow. The plant doesn’t need any watering or nurturing. Just time. Unfortunately the zombies will attack you (Lvl 57) So I just hid behind the bush south of the farming patch until the plant grew. You even got a message when the plant was done.

3. Pick the blindweed and go back to Captain Braindeath. He’ll tell you to go upstairs and put it in the hopper. Use the ladder on the southeast side, and once your upstairs go to the northwest side of the upstairs. Thats where the hopper is, put the blindweed in the hopper.

4. Now talk to Captain Braindeath. He says he needs stagnant water for the rum. Make sure you have your bucket and go outside again. Once your outside go to the west and look for a guy named 50% Luke. Yes his name is actually “50% Luke”. Try to open the gate he is guarding, and eventually through dialogue you’ll get by.

5. Make your way north up the mountian and you’ll find a little lake with a path leading up to it. Follow the path and use the bucket on the stagnant water.

6. Head back to the boat, use the stagnant water on the hopper and talk to Captain Braindeath. He’ll tell you to fish five sluglings. He gives you a net to catch them.

Head outside and go towards the farming area. Go south of that and fish at that area until you have 5 catches of sluglings.

Once you have 5 put them in the pressuriser. It’s next to the hopper. After that pull the lever and talk to Captain Braindeath.

7. Captain Braindeath tells you about a spirit in the brewing system. So he gives you a wrench and tells you to take it to Davey (Hes in the western quarters near you.) to get the wrench blessed.

8. Go to Davey and get the wrench blessed. He tells you that it will be the only time that this operation is free, and that the wrench will make your prayer potions more effective.

9. Use the wrench on the part of the brewery thats shaking. You should say “The power of Guthix compels you!” and then a spirit will come out (level 150). As long as you put on protect from melee it should be as easy fight.

10. Now that the spirit is dealt with, talk to Captain Braindeath. He’ll tell you he needs a fever spider carcass to put into his rum. Go downstairs (use the ladder on the northwestern side.) and kill a fever spider. NOTE: Make sure you have Slayer Gloves equipped while killing one.

11. Get the spider carcass, put it in the hopper, and talk to Captain Braindeath again. He tells you that the rum is finished, so go give some of it to Captain Donnie. Use the bucket on the output tap (the southern end of all the brewery machinery) and then go to Captain Donnie.

12. Give Captian Donnie the rum, and then go back to Captain Braindeath.

Q: How do you level my character?
A: We assign 2 or 3 expert players to your character to do the leveling; the person playing your character

has a very good understanding of how your specific class is played. Your character is primarily leveled

via what is commonly known as “grinding,” where we play solo simply killing monsters over and over.

However we do sometimes do valuable quests to obtain experience. We have extensive knowledge of your

game’s world and know the best areas & quests to level your character as fast as possible.

Q: Do you use bots or macros?
A: No! We do not use any bots or macros to perform our services. We have over 100+ employees that

personally work on your character. This ensures your character is leveled the safest way possible.

Q: Will you use my character to PK (player-kill) or KS (kill-steal)?
A: No! We will never involve your character in Pking, Ksing, farming or any other behavior that is frowned

upon.

Q: What do you do if someone sends a tell to my character?
A: Normally we will respond as if AFK when another player sends you a tell, however if a GM sends you a

tell we will say hello to him or her. We can respond in any way you like though. If you have any specific

answers you would like us to use, please just let us know and we will be sure to use them.

Q: I don’t want my guild or friends to know that you are playing my character. What will you do?
A: They will see you as AFK and we will act so when they send you a tell.

Q: Do I keep the money & items gained while you play my character?
A: YES! We, unlike other power leveling services, do not keep your gold or items.

Q: I understand it takes a couple of days to level my character, but I want to playwith my friends during

the week. Am I able to play while you are leveling my character?
A: Of course! You may schedule time for us to level your character. You may also order part-time services

from us and pay by 24 hour days instead of per level.

Q: After I pay, how quickly can you start my order?
A: Normally, we start working on your order in 1-2 hours after we have received your payment, your game

account and password. Sometimes our departments can get full and it may take longer for your order to

start. You can be assured that once free workers are available, we will start on your order. Remember, we

do not use bots or macros and all work is done by a real person.

Q: Do you upgrade my characters equipment as he/she levels?
A: Yes. Any upgrades obtained while leveling your character will be used accordingly.

Q: Will my characters other skills such as defense & attack be leveled? What about my profession skills?
A: Your character is actively fighting while gaining experience, not sitting on the side soaking up exp.

So yes, your characters battle skills will be raised as we play your character. As for other skills

(cooking, blacksmithing, etc), we will level them as we can.

Q: What security precautions are taken to protect my personal information?
A: We take your privacy extremely seriously. We have systems in place to screen every order and protect

who has the given orders information. Information given to us is never disclosed to any third parties and

is only given to those in our company who need it to complete your order. Once your order is completed,

please you MUST change your password.

As usual I will make my opinion of new Runescape updates public, this time its the new all singing all dancing high detail mode that was introduced yesterday, I will make a few predictions, lets see if they come true.

I have a fairly new computer, dual core, 2gb matched RAM, running Microsoft Vista, I have a fast broadband connection, and I mean fast not these dodgy BT line broadband actually using a company that can deliver using fibre optics.

I first saw the update introduced on RuneHq forum so immediately logged in to take a look, I was surprised to see that the front page of the Runescape website was totally different, it has a much more modern look, easy to navigate but it will take a time to get used to it, I always thought the original site looked dated but as long as I can find the play Runescape members button I was happy, It Now looks good and still has a play button, good result Jagex.

I use Swiftkit from Zybez it does everything I need and more, as I assumed it wouldn’t support full screen I started Microsoft Internet Explorer, was a bit annoyed because it wouldn’t load it said something that it couldn’t create the rscache folder and asked me to create it as a possible fix, I did this and gave it all access permission for everyone even though I was logged in as administrator, tried again and it had the same problem, I decided to try Firefox and woot worked straight away, it took me a while to find my way around but after about 5 minutes I got to a login screen and selected full screen.

After a few white and black screens it came to the full screen login page, looks good with the previews in the back ground, I logged in and woooah I was a cartoon character, I had my Karils on and prayer skill cape on, first glitch found my bottom was sticking through the bottom of my cape, movement was very laggy, It would take about 15 seconds before it would respond to a move request, I though it may be laggy because loads of people would be downloading it so carried on.

I had a clue so thought I would do it just to test playability, I did a normal clue and a co-ord clue both completed OK then I got another clue, Hmmm, nothing on it, I could see the scroll but there was nothing written on it, I tried turning off full screen, still nothing on it, I then logged off and went to normal detail and could read that it was the picture with 3 volcanoes on it, I went back to high detail went to the Ardougne lever pulled it, and 25 seconds later I was in the wildy, with lag like that I decided not to go to the wildy in High Detail.

I gave it a fair shot doing a few slayer tasks at abyssal demons, they are not very dangerous so I would leave it in high detail, big mistake although not dangerous it is almost impossible to click your next demon quickly so another player would normally steal it.

My conclusion is it looks great nice to be a part of a cartoon although I don’t think you can get totally immersed in it having a full screen certainly makes it more fun to play, having the controls in the bottom of the screen will take some getting used to but the transparency is a nice effect.

I tried it at different times of day on busy and quiet worlds in full and normal screen and even in safe mode but the lag was still present, I don’t believe it is extra people downloading the game I think it is too much for the server to handle, bare in mind Jagex have no way to test it with thousands of players so in their test area they could never anticipate the lag that would be created, testing on the same server in normal mode there is very slight lag makes me think its the servers ability to send the game in HD mode as opposed to just sending the normal data, perhaps its a bandwidth issue.

It is only a beta so this is effectively their test server with many people testing it, you need to expect many problems, graphics, speed, playability etc. give Jagex feedback on problems (not rants) in the forums and fault report for serious ones and we could well have a nice addition to our game of choice.

Non members I do not suggest you get membership for this, you may well be disappointed, I love the update but wont be using it for a while.
