Treasure Trails Menu

Treasure trails are one of things in RuneScape that will give you hours of fun. You don’t have the slightest idea what kind of treasure you’ll get, or when you’ll get it. If you like adventures, be sure to do some treasure trails. Treasure trails are members only, but some of the rewards can be used by both F2P’ers and P2P’ers.

Due to the massive amount of content involved with Treasure Trails, information has been grouped by clue scroll type. Choose the guide relevant to the type of clue scroll you would like to learn more about. If you do not know which type of clue scroll you have, we have provided a brief definition of each scroll type below.

Which Type of Clue do I have?
If you do not know which type of clue you have, we have provided a brief definition of each type of clue scroll available:

Anagram: Anagram clues look like gibberish, but sometimes it can look like a strange phrase as well. These clues are actually the names of different non-player characters that you see around RuneScape that have had their letters mixed up.
Challenges: These clues are often simple math equations or a task telling you to count certain objects in RuneScape.
Coordinates: When you get a coordinates clue, it will say something like “04 degrees, 13 minutes North, 12 degrees, 45 minutes East”. These clues require you to have a watch, sextant and chart in your inventory.
Elite: Elite (level 4) clue scrolls have three exclusive clue types that will only appear at this level scroll. You have an elite clue scroll if:
nothing but a compass appears as the clue (Magic Compass)
an orb is attached to your clue (Orb Scan)
a puzzle with runes on three different tracks is on the scroll (Celtic Knot). See the Puzzle page for assistance with this one.
Uri’s Emotes: You know you have this clue when you get a scroll that asks you to wear a variety of strange clothes, go to a specific area and perform an emote.
Maps: Map clues are easy to identify. They are actual drawn maps with an X marking where you must dig. There may also be a series of steps to take marked on the map.
NPC Locations: NPCs, or Non-Player Characters, are the people who show up as yellow dots on your minimap. Some clues tell you to speak with one of the many NPCs in RuneScape.
Puzzles: There are two types of puzzles. One is a sliding puzzle which requires that you slide different squares around one at a time in order to unscramble a picture. Another type of puzzle is the Celtic knot, where you must align runes in order to unlock your next task.
Riddles: Riddle clues require you to figure out the true meaning of a strange phrase. They often require that you have a decent knowledge of RuneScape and the people within.
Search: Search clues are simple clues that say, for example, “Crate, Burthrope”. They only state a searchable thing like a sack, a chest or even drawers and then a vague location within RuneScape.

Requirements
To visit The Beast at all, you must have completed the Summer’s End quest. In addition, the recommended stats to fight the Corporeal Beast are:

85 ranged(if ranging)
85 Strength and Attack(if meleeing)
85 defence
You can fight the Corporeal Beast with lower stats, but you will be much more effective and less likely to die with the recommended stats. Of course, a larger team requires lower stats, and you need higher stats to succeed in a smaller team.

Location

There are 4 main ways to get to the Corporeal Beast Lair. Two are convenient, two aren’t so convenient.

The best way of getting there is the RED route. You get there by using a charged Games Necklace, and teleporting to Clan Wars.
The second best way is the GREEN route. You get there by using the above mentioned Games Necklace and teleporting to Wilderness volcano (previously Bounty Hunter). Although it isn’t as quick as the red way is, it is decent for banking after fighting the Beast. You also save an inventory space over Clan Wars as you can bank your games necklace.
The third best way is the GRAY route. It’s just a direct route walking from Edgeville.
The worst way to get there is the BLUE route. Similar to above, except walking from Varrock East Bank.

Note that this is the wilderness, and there is always a danger from revenants, especially the area right below the dungeon.

Once you enter the dungeon, you will arrive in the arena where you already fought the Beast in the quest Summer’s End. It should look familiar, so you run east, go through the mini doorway into the room where the battle to bury your soul took place, run east again, and that doorway leads to the boss.

Setup
As of right now, there are 2 main ways to fight the Corporeal Beast. It’s up to you what style to bring, mainly depending on your stats and how much money you’re willing to spend.

When choosing gear, keep in mind that defence bonuses have reduced effects against the Corporeal Beast, so bringing armour that increases attack bonuses is often preferable. Expensive gear makes much less of a difference here than at other boss monsters, so you may wish to keep it in the bank.

Range

The first method is the ranging method. There are three different inventories you could use here.

The first two inventories have their pros and cons. While the shark method is cheaper, you have to bank after pretty much every kill. The brew method, while being a lot more expensive, will allow you to stay there longer.

Recommended
Equipment: Inventory: Alt. Inventory:
Archer Helmet
Amulet of Fury
Black D’Hide Top
Black D’Hide Chaps
(Barrows) Gloves/Black Dragonhide Vambraces*
Rune C’bow
Unholy Book
Snakeskin Boots
Ring of Life
Ava’s Accumulator
Ruby Bolts (e)
Diamond Bolts (e)
2 Range Potions(4)
Games Necklace
6 Super Restores(4)
10 Saradomin Brews(4)
7 Sharks
Teleport Tabs
Diamond Bolts (e)
2 Range Potions(4)
Teleport Tabs
Games Necklace
4 prayer potions
18 sharks

*Note: Vambraces offer 2 more magic defence at the cost of one less range attack bonus, as well as being much cheaper.

Not everyone is willing to take that much pricy gear into a place with no grave, or might not have the cash to do so. The third inventory and setup can be used for players with this in mind:

Budget
Equipment: Inventory:
Archer Helmet
Glory Amulet
Black D’hide Body
Black D’hide Chaps
Black D’hide Vambraces
Rune C’bow
Rune Kiteshield
Snakeskin Boots
Ring of Life
Ava’s Accumulator
Ruby Bolts (e)
Diamond Bolts (e)
1 Range Potions(4)
Games Necklace
4 prayer potions
21 Sharks
Teleport Tabs

Melee

Another method is meleeing. After some testing, it was discovered that the Corporeal Beast is weak to stab attacks, so the main weapons used here are guthans (healing effect, using spear’s stab option), or Zamorak Spear with Initiate or Proselyte for boosting prayer bonus. For meleeing, the brew/restore setup isn’t nearly as good as the range one.

Recommended
Equipment: Inventory:
Helm of Neitiznot
Proselyte Hauberk (plate)
Proselyte Cuisse (legs)
Skill Cape
Amulet of Fury
Zamorakian Spear
(Barrows) Gloves
Dragon Boots
Berserker Ring
Super Attack(4)
Super Strength(4)
4 Prayer Potions (4)
Games Necklace
20 sharks
Teleport Tabs

Like with ranging, not everyone can be expected to bring that much pricy gear. Pretty much anything can be swapped out to a less expensive alternative. Dragon boots can be reduced to adamant or rune, fury to glory or a stole, fire cape to legends, obsidian, or a skill cape. The only item that is a real ‘must have’ is the weapon. It doesn’t even have to be a Zamorakian Spear, all it has to have is a ’stab’ option.

Notes

None of these are set inventories, it can vary depending on your range (if you’re ranging), attack and strength (if you’re meleeing), defence and constitution levels.
Cannons can be set up in the Beast Lair, and help a lot when taking out the cores, so once you feel comfortable there, substitute the cannon and cannonballs in place of either 1 restore, 2 brews, and 2 sharks, or 1 prayer potion and 4 sharks, depending on the inventory you choose.
The inventory you pick also depends on what size team you have. If you’re at a mass trip, you might as well take the cheap way out and use sharks. If you’re with a smaller team which needs as many people as they can at all times, the brew/restore option is better.
Even though the Beast will eat summoning familiars, it’s sometimes a good idea to bring a familiar with beast of burden capabilities; this is recommended for 1-3 person teams as the trip goes by fast. The trick is to dismiss the familiar once you enter the cave and pick up the supplies it drops when needed.
Fighting the Beast

Fighting this monster is no easy task. In order to kill it in a decent amount of time, it is advised you have 10+ people.

When you’re about to enter the final lair, you will receive one of the messages warning you about the dangers of the place before you. Unlike the other ones, this one you cannot choose to hide after you go to it a certain amount of times.

Once your team enters, use the prayer Protect from Magic (Its melee attack is less accurate), and start killing it as you would any other monster.

After a little while, normally when the Corporeal Beast is around half life points, it will release a Dark Energy Core. The Core has 250 LP, and its sole purpose is to heal the Beast back to full health. There are two main methods to avoid it.

The first is having the rangers pick it off. The meleers have a tough job of killing it because when they get close, the Core starts draining energy. Unfortunately, the Core will not stay still long enough to be attacked unless it is feeding off someone else, so what you do is have one person stay and have the core attack them, while the rest of the rangers attack. After the core is dead, it will spawn in a short amount of time, and you will repeat the process.

The second is the preferred method. When the Core jumps towards you, run away. It will sit there not knowing what to do for a second or two, then jump. Nobody takes damage if the Core can’t reach anyone, and the Beast won’t get healed. Conveniently, the Zamorak Spear’s special attack pushes back the opponent and stuns it for a few seconds. This can be extremely useful, like the picture below shows:

The Corporeal Beast has four different attacks. Three of them are magic-based, and one is a melee attack. All of these hit through prayer, but damage take is reduced by using prayer.

Melee-The Beast will head-butt you or kick you. Inaccurate, but can hit in the 500’s! If you go underneath the beast, then he will use his third melee attack, a stomp.
Multi-target Magic-The Beast will shoot one of the attacks similar to those used in the quest at you. This will hit you, then split into five different attacks. These can hit both the target and bystanders. This attack has high KO potential. Your team should spread out to lessen damage from this attack. This attack can also be dodged similar to the quest Beast’s attacks.
Regular Magic-Will only hit around 200 or so, but can also drain your combat stats if they are boosted.
Larger Magic-This attack can hit over 400 against those praying magic, and over 600 on those not praying!
Concerns

Before fighting this Beast, please keep in mind the following concerns:

Even though you don’t get a gravestone when you die, your items still stay there, and it is possible to go back and collect some of your items before they disappear.
No protection prayers will stop the Dark Energy Cores from hitting you.
The Corporeal Beast can hit up to 650’s, so even if you’re eating as fast as you can, it is possible to get killed at all times.
If the Dark Energy Core is stealing life points, a message will appear in your chat box “The dark core creature steals some life from you for its master.”
When the Beast attacks you, it may drain some stats; if it does, it will say in the chat box “Your (Skill) has been slightly drained!”
Stunning the Corporeal Beast with a Zamorakian or Dragon Spear doesn’t work. A message appears in your chat box saying “That creature is too large to knockback!”
Special weapons that are useful include: dragon halberd for high hits, and dragon dagger. Be aware that poison is ineffective on the Beast and wears off very quickly.
Do NOT bring familiars when fighting the Corporeal Beast. He feeds on souls, and if the familiar gets close enough to him, he will eat it and the Beast will regain a large amount of life points.
Although it may seem like an easy task, the Corporeal Beast has a damage reductor around it. Even though it has 20000 life points, the max with ruby bolts (e) is 1000, and it’s rare to see above a 300 with even the most powerful weapons, super pots, and piety!

As we did just over six months ago, we are delighted to offer everyone another opportunity to try RuneScape Classic for themselves! For two weeks starting from today, Classic will be open for new sign-ups from RuneScape members only.

If you log into Classic during this two-week period (using your normal username and password), you will continue to be able to do so after the two weeks are over. If, however, you do not, you will miss out on the chance to do so, so give it a try.

If your RuneScape account is already ‘Classic-enabled’ (either from the last time we did this or from before that), then you do not have to log into Classic during these two weeks to keep it as such, but you are more than welcome to log in to say hello to those players new to Classic.

You can access RuneScape Classic here. New sign-ups should log into Classic worlds 2-6; Classic 1 is only accessible to those veteran Classic players who have stuck with it all the way through.

RuneScape Classic is the predecessor to the current RuneScape game. It was closed to new members over four years ago, but we want for players to be able to try out this important part of our history.

If you have any questions or wish to discuss this, please visit the Recent Updates thread in your forum community.

Why should you master crafting? You could make a lot of money forging metals and ores into weapons, and you can also use the skill of crafting to turn metals into jewelry. Players love to adorn their characters with necklaces and amulets, so a master jewelry maker can become a very wealthy player.

Crafting also has many practical applications. If youy love cooking, you can craft your own pie dishes. If you like to battle, knowing how to craft leather armor is a handy skill.

  • Start with cowhides which you can get by going to a cow field and killing some cows to make leather. Take the cow hide to Ellis the Tanner in Al-Kharid. There you can turn the hide into normal or hard leather. Hard leather is stronger but costs a little more to make. Once you turn your hide into leather, you can craft it into a useful item, like a pair of boots or a piece of armor. If you have enough thread in your inventory, click on the item you want to make to craft it.
  • Finding a gem (during a random event, for instance) is very lucky. You can make it more valuable by cutting it. You can use a cut gem when you are making gold jewelry. First, buy a chisel from a general store or crafting shop. Select the chisel from your inventory and then the gem you wish to cut. If your crafting level is not high enough to cut the gem, you might want to make some more pottery to increase your XP.
  • Use silver bars to make symbols that will make your prayers last longer. These are called “Holy Symbols”. Use your silver bar on the furnace to make your holy symbol. To finish the symbol, you will need to make some string. Use shears (from a general store) to get wool from a sheep. Spin the wool on a spinning wheel into a ball. Use your ball of wool on your holy symbol to give it a string. If you have a prayer level of 31 or higher, you can take the symbol to Brother Jered in the Monastery to be blessed.
  • The Fishing Trawler minigame is found in Port Khazard. There are many ways to get to this location, here are the most common:

    1. Watchtower Teleport – requires Watchtower Quest completed in order to use this method.
Teleport to the Watchtower with 2 Earth Runes and 2 Law Runes and follow the red line to walk to Port Khazard.

    2.  Spirit Tree – requires Tree Gnome Village completed to use this method.
Use any Spirit Tree on RuneScape and teleport to the Battlefield. Afterwards, walk to Port Khazard by following the blue line.

    3.  Ardougne Teleport – requires Plague City completed to use this method.
Teleport to Ardougne with 2 Water Runes and 2 Law Runes, then follow the pink line to Port Khazard.

    4.  Fairy Ring DJP – requires Fairy Tale Part II started to use this method.
Use the Fairy Ring Code “DJP” to teleport just north of Port Khazard, and then walk there by following the yellow line. You need a Dramen staff or a Lunar staff to use the fairy rings.

    5.  Khazard Teleport – requires Lunar Diplomacy completed to use this method.
Teleport yourself or a group to Port Khazard using the Khazard (Group) Teleport. This teleport will use 2 Astral Runes, 2 Law Runes and 4 or 8 Water Runes and is in the Lunar Spellbook. Follow the green path.

    6.  Charter Ship
Charter a ship from a place on RuneScape and pay a small fee to be taken to Port Khazard. After, take a small walk to the minigame by following the orange line.

Okay, first things first, whatever you’re going to train on, make sure it has low attack and defense. I say this because it is a common mistake to train on zombies and guards, both of which can hit often and depending on your defense, relatively high. So, taking all this into consideration, you will want something that has low defense, attack and strength, but high hitpoints.

Members, for you this is extremely easy. Chickens, goblins and low level spiders in the lumbridge area until you get to 15, after that, go to Fremmenik, and kill rock crabs. Eventually the crabs will stop attacking you, when this happens, go into the cave (just a bit east, if you start going up the mountain, you’ve gone too far) and come right back out and you will find that they attack again. If you took the route through Fremmenik itself, just go south until you reach the market square.
Best Items to Lend »Free Players, for you (well, as of last friday us X’( ) I had to do some research myself. So in my research, I found some problems, namely that there is no creature that fits that description, so for you (us) I suggest the same thing as members, until you get to 15, after that, alas, it gets difficult, this will take MUCH longer than members but is worth it if you want a higher level  player, it makes pking a lot easier. So, after level 15, start chopping logs, get your woodcutting skill up to 60, start cutting yews, make at least 150,000 gold, (if you already have tons of gold disregard that last part) and buy lots of food, I use swordfish, and go to the barbarian village. Once you are there, go down the opening in the center of the village. Welcome to the Stronghold of Security, start training all of your skills until they are all at 40. Go back to the Grand Exchange. Purchase a rune halberd if you are melee, more runes if you mage and more arrows and a better bow if you prefer ranging. Once you have your equipment, go south to the wizards tower. (there will be no need for food) Once you are at the tower, go to the top level. Attack the lesser demon, it will take time, but you will eventually get there.

The Runescape Pink Party Hat Dupe (November 7, 2003)
Nowadays, people may tell you that they can duplicate an item and make you rich. That is not possible anymore, but this Runescape glitch was in the past! Before, there was a minor bug in Jagex’s code, which a few people found out and took advantage of. This bug allowed any non-stackable item to be duplicated, which meant these people could use the identification code of expensive items and make as many as they wanted. Soon enough, the magenta partyhat (people called them pink) moved from being the most expensive partyhat to the cheapest partyhat. The magenta partyhat moved from about 5 million gold to only 200k gold in a matter of days and caused a big dent in the economy. Apparently, these newly duplicated items looked exactly like the original, so Jagex couldn’t tell who had the real partyhats and who didn’t. Now to this day, the magenta partyhats are now of a darker shade and are still the cheapest partyhat because there are a lot more of them than the other partyhats.

The Falador Massacre (June 6, 2006)
On the “day of the devil,” was the day Cursed You was celebrating his accomplishment of achieving level 99 construction before everyone else on Runescape. However, it wasn’t all fun and games when some people found a glitch that let them go playerkilling outside of the wilderness. Durial321 and a couple others used this bug to attack and kill people scattered across Falador. People lost all sorts of valuable items because of this bug and soon demanded a rollback. Apparently, this memorable catastrophe occurred during the middle of the night for most of Jagex staff members. It was too late to have a rollback, but Jagex did what they could and eventually had Durial321 banned, possibly along with others. Sadly, the people killed that day did not receive their lost items back, but Jagex will do what they can to make sure this won’t happen again.

    Other Runescape Bugs & Glitches
In the month of January 2007, a rollback occurred, which affected a handful of members playing at the time. This meant that the last few hours were practically erased completely, and all the things that players did in that time were gone. In addition to experience lost, it was reported that some items were duplicated in the process. For example, if someone were to sell a white partyhat to someone else during this time, the seller would get to keep the white partyhat and the money while the buyer also had a white partyhat.

During late March 2007, there were several small graphic glitches and so Jagex staff used to Wise Old Man to fix them. It appeared that they coded the character of this NPC to “watch over” the glitches and make sure they didn’t happen again. One example was in world 82, where many people were able to walk on the water by Catherby fishing spots. Mod Ash soon patched up the problem and stuck the Wise Old Man there and made him run some code to fetch stuck people out of the water. There were also a few hidden system updates were Jagex quickly fixed the bugs and put the Wise Old Man back in Draynor.

Now for one of the easiest parts of your strength pure training….. Picking skill goals. Now this is that part where i must say easier done then said…. Now with that said lets start off by picking skill goals to train. As a rule i must say strength must have a minimum level of 50 to pk and become a respected pker. Now your attack can range from 1-40 although i suggest getting it up a little so you can hit a few extra times each fight.

Alright now that you are on real runescape soil you can head over to the dungeon very close to where you land after your lumbrige teleport and get the two 250xp skill lamps from sir Vance and use then both on hp. Yes that’s right all other guides say to use those lamps on skills and I would to but I found out that by using those lamps plus the ones from the stronghold of player safety you get 15 hp or 1250xp in hp without doing any combat and that will give you the best bonus in the game as hp is the pures best friend. Now after that head over to varrock and take the grand exchange tutorial and then buy a few trout maybe 12 or so because you don’t take that much damage in the stronghold of security. Then after you are done the stronghold of security you should do the stronghold of player safety and remember that you use the xp lamps on hp. After that you should have the 20k from the strongholds plus however much you get from the items off the tutorial island. Now you can go a head and buy 1 set full iron all scimitars up to mithril and use the rest of your money to buy cakes to use for training. If you want to know why you don’t buy a rune scimitar its because rune scimitars currently go for 30-40k or more.

A guide on how to best spend your money for the different skills. There are tons of money making and merchanting guides out there, so I thought I would publish one guide for f2p (free to play=non members) that is about spending the money in a good way. This guide should be about how you can use your money to get your skills up. Let’s Start Different skills take different amount of gp to level. For example, for mining you just need to buy a pickaxe to start training it, but if you should train magic, you need to buy a lot of runes. I will cover each skill with one little text, so just check the text about the skill you’re going to train, and some helpful advices will stand there about how you should use your money when you want to raise the level in that skill. The combat skills The combat skills takes a lot of money to train. You need armor, weapons, amulets and food. Armour and weapons is recommended to buy at Varrock west bank in a low number world. Same thing with the food and everything else you might need as amulets. Ranging The big range marketplace is in Lowe’s ranging shop in Varrock in world 1. Here you can buy dragon hide armor, arrows from bronze to adamant and pretty much everything you need for ranging. Prayer First of all: Prayer is an expensive skill to “buy” in F2P. I don’t recommend people who don’t got more than 1M gp to try buying bones for leveling prayer. Ok, now that you know that: The best place to buy bones is Varrock west bank in world 1. Many people here sell big bones, which give you a lot of prayer XP for each bone you bury.
