This week, we have released a new method of making Wallie payments. You can now make payments directly to Wallie instead of using PayByCash. This means that we can offer a faster and easier payment process when paying for RuneScape using Wallie.
You can still make Wallie payments using the PayByCash payment option; however, you may find that your subscription works out cheaper if you pay directly to Wallie, especially on longer subscriptions. In the future, we hope to offer an even lower price with Wallie Card.
Wallie direct payments are available in Mexico and most of Europe.
Wallie cards can be purchased from local stores or from the Wallie website. They can then be redeemed on www.runescape.com by selecting ‘Upgrade Your Account’ on the RuneScape front page (under the ‘Account’ drop-down menu) and following the prompts for using the Wallie Card payment method.

Ever since a brave adventurer rediscovered Runecrafting, mages from the Wizards’ Tower have been working hard to figure out its intricacies. In fact, so many have been drawn to Runecrafting’s secrets that a guild has formed.
Not everything is rosy and happy in the guild. An argument has raged over the magical reaction that creates rune stones: are green or yellow orbs more important in the process? Agree to resolve their conflict and you’ll find yourself in our newest minigame, The Great Orb Project!
The purpose of this team-based minigame is very simple: collect more coloured orbs than the opposing team. Watch out, though, as they will be pushing your orbs out of the way to stop you winning. This frenetic minigame offers few rules and a great alternative to conventional Runecrafting - all with a range of rewards, of course. Expect rune essence, Runecrafting XP and new magical equipment if you wipe the floor with your opponents.
The Runecrafting Guild also offers a number of features that are not tied to the minigame. The rune altar map helpfully shows the location of all altars; one mad wizard has learned how to repair abyssal pouches; and the head of the guild is working on a marvellous omni-talisman that combines the powers of all existing talismans into one.
Note that the guild is available to both free players and members - the Runecrafters want all the help they can get!
Summary
Where to find the Runecrafting Guild:
The guild can be accessed through a portal, upstairs in the Wizards’ Tower.
Requirements to access the Runecrafting Guild and minigame:
Level 50 Runecrafting
Rune Mysteries
The guild is available on F2P, but some individual features are for members only
Access to:
A new guild
A fast-paced, team-vs-team Runecrafting minigame - The Great Orb Project
Various new items for runecrafters, including a new outfit

In other news…
Beyond the Runecrafting Guild, this update brings you a few small things that should make your lives easier…
Kazgar, Mistag and Dartog have been given right-click options so you can quickly ask them to guide you through the Lumbridge Swamp Caves. Elkoy, the guide from the Tree Gnome Village maze, has been given a similar option.
When you previously right-clicked on a chat message from another player, you were always offered the option to ‘Add friend’ and ‘Add ignore’. If that player was already on your Friends list, those options weren’t very useful, so we’ve replaced them with a new ‘Message’ option. This is identical to what would happen if you clicked on your friend in your Friends List. (This is not available on Quick Chat-only worlds.)
Tai Bwo Wannai village welcomes its newest arrival, Imiago. If you’ve completed Jungle Potion, he’ll be willing to protect your calquat trees from disease in exchange for eight poison ivy berries.
The gardeners who protect bush patches have always demanded payment to look after poison ivy bushes. It’s been pointed out on the Forums that poison ivy bushes never get diseased anyway, so the gardeners no longer offer to look after them.
We’ve also fixed the following bugs:
Treasure Trail sliding puzzle boxes were getting stuck, making them impossible to complete.
The roof of the Grand Exchange was failing to disappear correctly when you stood underneath it. Similar bugs were affecting the front of Varrock Palace and bits of the Warriors Guild.
The Amulet of Catspeak was incorrectly positioned on female characters.
The Amulet of Fury was not rendering correctly with the Bandos chestplate on male characters.
If you wore a blue snelm, your chathead was appearing yellow.
The 3D models for skillcapes were using too many polygons, resulting in bizarre graphical glitches. They have now been remodelled to resolve this problem; their appearance is largely unchanged, but you may notice some slight changes.
Mud pies were positioned incorrectly when you wielded them.
Flared trousers were rendering incorrectly with most boots.
The ‘fine shirt’ base kit had a glitch affecting the neck area on male characters.
The mind tiara was missing part of its model.
Baba Yaga’s hair was clipping through her hat.
The progress hats from the Mage Training Arena were not rendering correctly with players’ hair.
Radimus Erkle, master of the Legends’ Guild, had a rendering problem with his cape.
The obsidian cape was rendering incorrectly with certain tops.
Bogrog was checking for the wrong Summoning level when players tried to exchange praying mantis pouches for shards.
Trimmed chaps and Wilderness capes were rendering incorrectly on female characters.
The mime mask and zombie mask items were displaying incorrectly during dialogue.
Players could walk through a rope barrier in the Varrock Museum.
Shades of Mort’ton Quest Guide

Shades of Mort’ton
Difficulty: Medium
Length: Short
Members only: Yes
Reward:
• 3 quest points
• 2,000 Herblore and Crafting XP
• Ability to use the General Store in Mort’ton
• Access to the Shades of Mort’ton mini-game
Start: The town of Mort’ton to the south east of Filliman Tarlocks camp in the Kingdom of Morytania. Search a shelf in the southwestern part of Mort’ton.
Needed skills:
• Level 20 Crafting
• Level 25 Herblore
• Ability to kill 5 level 40 Loar Shades.
Needed quests: Priest in Peri
Needed items:
• Vial of water
• Tinderbox
• Axe (hatchet)
• 2 ashes (you can chop down a tree and burn the logs during the quest)
• At least 1,000 gp
You should have more than 16 free inventory slots when you start the quest. Also, you should be on a Shades of Mort’ton world (World 77), or at least have some friends helping you.
Walkthrough
1. To start the quest, search the shelf in a house in the southwestern part of Mort’ton [map]. You should find a diary. Read it.
2. Right-click on the smashed table in the room and search it. You will find 3 herbs. Identify them. Add a Tarromin to the Vial of water, then add the ashes.
3. Head north and you will see a general shop. Use the Serum 207 with Razmire, the shop owner. Ask him about the shadowy creatures, and he asks you to bring 5 shade remains.
4. There are Loar Shadows everywhere in Mort’ton. When you attack one, they’ll transform into a Loar Shade. Kill 5 of them and pick up the remains.
5. Go back to Razmire and talk to him. If he has turned into an afflicted, use the Serum on him. He takes two remains and tells you to give the rest to Ulsquire. Ulsquire is in a house just southeast of the general store. Use the Serum on him to talk to him. He takes the remain. Talk to him again and ask what he found out about the remains.
6. If you’ve run out of Serum, chop down a tree nearby and light another fire to get some ashes. Meanwhile, fill your vial in Ulsquire’s house. Then, make a new serum by adding Tarromin and Ashes to the Vial of water. The speak to Razmire again, and buy Olive Oil from him. Then, use the building store and buy the following items:
• 5 Limestone
• 5 Limestone bricks
• 5 Planks
• 15 Swamp Paste
7. In this part, you should be on a crowded world such as world 2 or world 6. Go northeast of Mort’ton, and you will see the temple (and hopefully other players working on it). Reinforce the temple walls, and you will see some stats in the upper right corner of your screen. When the sanctity is at 10%, light the altar in the middle of the temple (if it’s not already lit) and use your Olive oil on it. You will obtain some Sacred oil.
Eventually, you can continue working on the temple to get 20% sanctity, which will let you use your Serum 207 on the fire to get Serum 208, which is a permanent cure.
8. Chop down a dead tree nearby, and use the Sacred oil on the logs to get Pyre logs. Then, find the Funeral Pyres, which are located at the east and south of the village. Use the Pyre Logs with the Funeral Pyre, then add the Loar remains. Light it.
9. Head back to Ulsquire and use another dose of Serum to complete the quest. Congratulations!
Note: If you use the Serum 208 (see step 7 for info), you will be able to use the shop in Mort’ton at any time.

RT Interview: Keira Knightley on Welsh Accents and Life After Pirates
Britain’s hottest young actress tells RT why supporting homegrown film is important.
Blog Article | Discuss Article Page | 1 2Keira Knightley’s star seems ever on the rise as early success with audiences in films like Bend It Like Beckham and Pirates of the Caribbean have segued into multi-award-winning roles in the likes of Pride & Prejudice and Atonement. In The Edge of Love, Knightley stars alongside Sienna Miller, Cillian Murphy and Matthew Rhys in a film about the fiery relationship between Dylan Thomas (Rhys) and three of his friends. Already attracting talk of another Oscar nomination, Knightley’s performance is being described as one of her best. The script has been penned by Sharman MacDonald, Knightley’s mother.
You’re an actor who enjoys a challenge; what was the challenge of this film for you?
Keira Knightley: You know, it’s really funny, it’s actually really lovely to work on something that was so intimate, and small. And I think that it’s very rare to get a film script that has such good dialogue. So it was a real joy, because a lot of the time you spend on film sets, you spend it really fighting to find out how to say the words. With this one we were already at another level, because it just flowed so easily.
Did it help to have friendships with the cast before you started?
KK: It really helped. I don’t think that you can fake warmth. You can fake lust, jealousy, anger; those are all quite easy. But actual, genuine warmth? I don’t think you can fake it. And it was really great that we did all get on. We had a great time all living in the same house, and we felt like a proper unit. So it means that when you’re doing something that’s incredibly intimate, you’re safe to try things out and you don’t feel like a complete dickhead!
How did you wrap your tongue around the Welsh accent?
KK: We had a really good voice coach. Half my mum’s family is Welsh, and I remember when I was a kid, she used to read to me, and wizards and characters like that always had a Welsh accent.
Did it feel strange working on her script for this film, as well?
KK: It actually felt very natural. If you live with a writer, you do grow up with their words and with their fantasies. And I’ve pretty -much seen every single one of her plays, so I’ve been in a lot of rehearsal rooms, and all the rest of it. It felt very natural and very easy, and lovely to do that professionally, as well.
Were you looking for something of hers that you’d be able to collaborate on?
KK: Not at all, it was a complete fluke and accident. It was literally just that she said, “will you give me some notes,” and I thought it was beautiful and an amazing story, and just really interesting. So I was working on The Jacket, and I just gave it to one of the producers, thinking he may be able to give notes on it, or something. He said, “is this something you’re thinking about?” And I only really said yes cause he’d read it, I didn’t think anything would come of it at all. So yes, it was fantastically accidental.
Dylan Thomas is not that likeable in the movie, is he?
KK: Some people really just go, “Oh, he’s mischievous,” and other people go, “wow, he’s quite demonic, and dark.” So I think it’s wonderful that it says a lot about the people that are going to see the film. I don’t feel we should dictate about him, I think if that’s your view of him, then that’s wonderful. It’s good to know that other people think differently, and that’s what makes the characters interesting.

Well, I’m sorry - there will be no deep words of wisdom or critical thoughts in this post. No, I’m simply writing to congratulate (and thank!) everyone that has made The RuneScape Blog (TRB) such a success so quickly! We are receiving hundreds of visitors every day, and the subscribers list is growing and growing. What makes TRB unique from the other RuneScape and general MMORPG blogs out there is that we have no set staff of writers, but rather, our entries are hand selected from submissions. Because of this we are able to boast such variety of contributors, from the top of the hiscores (Empror1 & Deja Vu Xiii) to former RuneScape cheaters (ThirdEyeBlind) - leaving you with content that is unique and… well, interesting!
In any event, this strategy must be working, as after just a few months TRB is already making a large impact all around the web! The one video we have posted so far (See 11’s article on house parties) has received over 1000 views in just a few weeks. Multiple sites from the furthest stretches have cited The RuneScape Blog as a primary source for quality content:
The poster, identified only by the name ThirdEyeOpen, lays out how cheaters and buyers operated as a would-be organized crime ring. ‘Welcome to the Dark Side’ is his chronicle of how he began his Runescape cheating career, and how it all ended. He recounts being ‘interrogated’ online by Jagex Ltd. about his activities, and how the subsequent account banning led to a malevolent wish to get even. His anger eventually snowballed into the creation of an organization of similar-minded individuals, mostly other teenagers, who accumulated a fair amount of real-world currency through exploits in Runescape before cashing out altogether. It’s an interesting read — perhaps a bit disturbing in the sense that he views cheating as a kind of playstyle — but worth checking out all the same.
~ Massively.com
“How to” get 99 Summoning guide, tips and tricks from Deja Vu Xiii who actually got the Summoning cape. I am personally not going to use it and will keep raising Summoning slowly, but if you are in a hurry, take a look.
~ Runewise.net
The RuneScape Blog has also recieved positive notice on PlayNoEvil, Technorati, Digg, and many RuneScape forums.
Once again, thanks to all of our devoted readers, especially those who leave comments and submit suggestions, and thanks doubly to those who have submitted content. We have more articles in the editing/drafting stages now, so be sure to keep checking back!
Update: To help spread the word, we have added an easy-to-use social bookmarking tool to the bottom of each post. Simply select the site you would like to share the article on, and it will be posted!
Are you fed up of trying to be heard above a crowded Varrock Marketplace? Are you tired of organising to meet players who want to trade with you? Do you just want to get on with the things you enjoy, rather than standing around, hoping that someone wants your full splitbark armour?
If the answer is “yes” to any of those questions, then Brugsen would like to direct you to his marvellous new Grand Exchange! This huge establishment is home to a RuneScape first - an item marketplace - where members and free players can buy or sell a huge range of items.
Using the Exchange couldn’t be any easier:
Bring items you wish to sell or money to buy stuff with.
Speak to one of the Grand Exchange clerks to either put items up for sale or to make a bid on any items.
The clerks will take your items or money and look for a matching bid/sale to match you up with.
You may have to wait for your bid to be accepted or for the clerks to find a purchaser - then again, it could happen in moments!
You will receive a message when the trade has been completed and you can go to the Grand Exchange or any bank to pick up your purchases or money.
Members are able to make six offers for sale or purchase at any one time, while free-to-play adventurers can have two. To make best use of these, Brugsen has advised his clerks to accept stacked and noted items; for example, 1,000 cut diamonds would only take up one slot, allowing you to make five other trades at any time!
The clerks also have the ability to convert armour into ’sets’, which will only take up one slot. To find a list of the armour types that can be made into ’sets’, visit the Knowledge Base article.
Market Prices in the Grand Exchange:
There is a limit to the amount you can buy or sell items for in the Grand Exchange, which is generally set at 5% above and below the ‘market price’, and it is impossible to buy outside of these boundaries. This will create a stable economy that cannot be abused by players who seek to manipulate prices to the disadvantage of others.
The market price is affected by any trade that occurs in the Exchange. If an item frequently sells for more than the market price then it will rise in value, but if it consistently sells for less than the market price then it will go down.
Initial market prices for items were decided after extensive research by Brugsen and his market experts, so should be very close to the item costs you are used to.
This market price will not only be used in the Grand Exchange. You will find that the value of staked items in the Duel Arena will also change, as will the player stock in the shops of RuneScape.
Keep an eye on item values to make sure you are buying or selling at the correct time. Reading the market and anticipating when it will go up or go down is an art in itself! However, the alchemy value of items is NOT affected. So, whatever you do, DON’T go high-alching your party hat! You’ll still only get 1 gp, and you wouldn’t like that…
For more details on the Grand Exchange and market prices, chat to Brugsen or the Grand Exchange Tutor for a tutorial. There is also a lot of information and some FAQs on the Grand Exchange Knowledge Base page.
——————————————————————————–
In other news…
When buying items from the ‘player stock’ tab in shops, prices will now be based on whichever is highest: the predefined prices or the Grand Exchange price. This change is necessary because the shops were a way that players could covertly transfer wealth. Selling items into shops or buying from the ‘main stock’ tab in shops will still be based on our predefined prices, though some shops have had slight changes to the prices that they will buy and sell items at.
Due to player feedback, we’ve added a fifth registrar to the duel tournaments. We’ve also adjusted the tournament ranks at which you can join up for them. Hopefully, you should find that starting your career in duel tournaments is a little easier and the majority of players will have access to two registrars, pitting them against players of a more suitable level.
The duel tournament worlds have also been adjusted. Please check the world list for the latest worlds which tournaments are running on.
The minimum tournament rank to get on the Hiscores has been reduced to 1,800 so more players can track their progress. If you don’t initially appear, you will have to login if you have a rank above 1,800.
