Sharks

Now you have fished Lobsters and made some good money, then you fished Swordfish and made some great money, but now its time to move on to Sharks and make some excellent money. They are selling for around 1,010 minimum Grand Exchange price. That means, for just 100 of them, you will have made 101,000 GP, and if you step up to 1000 sharks, you will have made a whopping 1,010,000 GP!!

Swordfish

After you have made some good cash with the Lobsters and have gained some levels fishing them, its time to move on to Swordfish. They are 381 each minimum on the Grand Exchange. Which means for 100 of them you will have made 38,100 GP. Bump that up to 1000 and you will have 381,000 GP.

Ok first off get a bronze/iron weapon although i recomend iron cause its stronger and more accurate and since we are working on attack iron makes more since but since your a newb you probably cant afford iron yet
Ok id recomend a iron dagger
Dont be fooled by how weak it is i find daggers to be really accurate and its fast
Although at level 1 attack nothing will be really accurate yet…
After you get your iron weapon go get some armour i recommend of course iron but if you cant offord yet get bronze
now get some newb food like shrimp but stock up! Cause it really stinks when your in the middle of training and run out of food.

Once level 5 get a steel weapon i recommend steel dagger
Now buy some full iron if you havent already
(If your a member you can start recipe for disaster and get iron gloves and buy iron boots off the street but the problem is that i dont think you can get very far in recipe for disaster at your level and i dont think anyone will sell iron boots cause noone buys them)
Keep training on them men there espacially if your a member for a clue scroll (I love them) get to 10 attack here
Now get a black weapon (daggers still recommended)
Now train on level 2 goblins get to level 20 here

Now that your level 20 Attack lets move to the next level of training
Now get a mithril weapon
if your a member train on rock crabs they have level 50 hitpoints so thats 200 Attack experaince per kill (awsome)
you can train here till level 40 attack
Now for the freebies reading this guide member can still use this method but its slower
Train on Barbarians at barbarian village till level 25
Now on to the Varrock sewers (a good place to train) kill the zombies there till 30 attack
Now buy a adament weapon
Now your probably hitting a little accurate by now
Now go to the scorpions at Varrock Sewer till level 40

Construction is quite possibly one of the most expensive skills in RuneScape. While it offers you benefits in Prayer, Crafting, transportation, and other various necessities, it may burn a hole in your pocket if you are not careful. Constructing your very own house (POH), is both fun and entertaining. You are able to host parties in your house, fight your friends in a combat ring, or kill a Steel Dragon to unlock the treasure chest it is guarding. This guide will open all the doors of constructing your very own house, starting with a shanty, and moving to a mansion.

Getting Started

To start Construction, you must first buy a plot of land for your house. You can purchase your house from the Real Estate Agent either in Varrock – north of Horvick’s Armour store and just west of the church, Camelot – east of the Seers Village Bank, Ardougne – northwest of the southern bank, and Falador – southeast of the furnace room.

Estate Agents
Varrock Camelot

Ardougne Falador

You can buy your house from the Real Estate Agent for 1,000 gp.
As your Construction level increases, the Real Estate Agent can also do various other things for your house, including moving it and redecorating. See the NPC section for more info.

Your first house, by default, will be located in Rimmington. You can get there by either teleporting using the House Teleport (level 40 magic, one law, earth, and air rune), or simply walk to Rimmington and go up to the portal.

When you choose to enter the portal, you are given three house options – as shown in the picture.

The first option allows you to enter your house and interact with all of its features. You must also be in your house in this mode for your friends to enter your house as well.

The second option allows you to enter your house in building mode so you can build. More on this option found below.

The third option allows you to enter a friends house. You must enter the exact name of your friend, and he must be in the house and accepting visitors for this option to work.

Furthermore, when you are in your house, you can right click your portal and choose to lock or unlock it. When the portal is locked, no one may enter your house. When it is unlocked, people may enter your house – though there is another aspect of this. If your portal is unlocked and your private chat is set to ‘On’, anyone can enter your house. If your portal is unlocked and your private chat set to ‘Friends Only’, then only friends may enter your house. Setting your private chat to ‘Off’ is the same as locking your portal.

Building

To begin building, you must enter your house in building mode, or be in the house and switch to building mode from the House Options Menu in the Player Controls Menu.

When you are in your house in building mode, you will see many transparent items in whatever room you’re in. These are called hotspots. Hotspots are where you can build various items for each room.

When you first enter your new house, the only room you will see will be the Garden, with only a portal in it. If you are in building mode, you can right-click any hotspot in a room to see what you can build in that hotspot, or how you can upgrade it.

The building menu will show you what level you need, as well as materials to build that peice of furniture. As well as showing what items you will need for that specific peice of furniture, you will always need a saw (see the Sawmill Operator) and a hammer.

You can also choose a room to build by right-clicking on doorways. With varying Construction Levels, money, and materials, you can build various rooms, put in all kinds of furniture, and turn your house into a mansion. Information on all the rooms and furniture can be found below.

The Rooms

There are 19 different rooms that you can construct in your house (counting the two you can make in the Dungeon Chambers), as well as many different kinds of furniture. Links to various pages containing information on each room and all of its furniture and components can be found in the table, as well as the cost (in gold peices) to build that room and the Construction Level required, as well as a small summary of that room.

Please note: All pieces of furniture require a hammer and a saw (see Sawmill Operator) as well as specific items to be built.

In addition, you could drink the special tea you can get from The Kitchen which gives a +3 Construction boost and get the Crystal Saw for a +6 Construction Boost. Furthermore, if you mix yourself the correct Evil Stew of Doom (see the Evil Dave Subquest of the Recipe For Disaster Quest) and get a +3 bonus from the stew, the tea, and the saw for a whopping +9 Construction bonus.

NPCs

When working with Construction, you will find you may have to interact with various NPC’s for help and materials. Information on all of these NPC’s can be found on the Construction NPC’s Page.

Servants

As your house becomes bigger and bigger, you may want to consider hiring a servant. Servants can be very helpful – they can serve food and run errands for you, among other things. All the info you need to know on the servants can be found on the Servant Page.

Extra Construction Info

There are some other, extra things that you should know about while raising construction:

Cape of Accomplishment

The ultimate reward for getting level 99 Construction is not only the great ability you will have in the skill, but the Cape of Accomplishment that you will have the oppurtunity to purchase. For more information on Capes of Accomplishment, see the Skill Capes page.

Agility is an important skill offering several benefits to members, such as aiding other skills such as Herblore and Runecrafting Guide, and allowing players to recover their energy faster. This is certainly useful in situations such as the Wilderness. This guide will cover all aspects of Agility, starting off with beginning the skill.

Starting Agility

Agility experience is usually obtained by completing Agility Courses. There are a large variety of these in the RuneScape world, and they mostly follow the same format. Players attempt to bypass obstacles (which each give a small amount of experience) until they complete the course, when they receive a course bonus. This bonus usually gives far more experience than the obstacles of the course, so generally the best method of training is to do ‘laps’ of an Agility Course. Some course obstacles can be failed, often causing players to take damage or sometimes become poisoned. If a player fails an obstacle, he must re-attempt it until completing it successfully to receive the bonus at the end of the course.

Agility Courses

The table below will show you all the available Agility Courses, and link to a short guide on each one. Also listed are the agility level requirements only – however, there may be some other requirements to use the course; see the guide for more info.

Course Name Level Required
Gnome Course Level 1 Agility
Penguin Course Level 30 Agility
Pyramid Course Level 30 Agility
Barbarian Course Level 35 Agility
Wilderness Course Level 55 Agility
Ape Atoll Course Level 48 Agility (70+ Recommended)
Werewolf Course & Skullball Level 60 Agility
Dorgesh-Kaan Course 70 Agility, Strength & Ranged

Brimhaven Agility Arena

The Agility Arena in Brimhaven, located just by the gate that seperates Karamja and Brimhaven, differs to the other Agility Courses, and can be useful to players of almost all Agility levels. There is no level requirement for this course, but at least Level 40 Agility is recommended, otherwise you will fail many of the obstacles. Once you pay Cap’n Izzy No Beard the 200 coins entrance fee, you go down a ladder into the arena, which is shown by the map below.

The object of the arena is to collect tickets, which appear at a random location every so often. The location will be indicated by an arrow on the screen, and players must get to the ticket dispensers by overcoming a series of obstacles. These obstacles give small amounts of experience, and most can be failed. Experience given by successfully bypassing these obstacles can be found below.

Obstacle Experience
Low Wall 8
Planks 6
Pressure Pads 26
Balancing Rope 10
Log Balance 12
Blade None
Spinning Blades 28
Monkey Bars 14
Darts 30
Floor Spikes 24
Pillars 18
Rope Swings 20
Balancing Ledge 16
Handholds 22

Tickets are gained by hitting the dispenser (with a flashing arrow over it) when players stand next to it. Tickets can be traded in for experience, as detailed by the table below.

Number of tickets Experience
1 240
10 2,480
25 6,500
100 28,000
1,000 320,000

You can also trade your tickets in for other items, such as the rare herbs Toadflax (3 tickets) and Snapdragon (10 tickets) for further use in Herblore. You can also purchase a Pirate’s Hook for 800 tickets, but this is just a wearable novelty item.

Course Bonus: None.

Other Agility Options

Besides the courses, there are a few other ways you can raise your agility.

Yanille Agility Dungeon

This is not officially a course, but contains a series of obstacles which allow players access to various benefits. Note that failing most of the obstacles in the dungeon lands you into an area full of Poison Spiders, so it is a good idea to bring an antipoison potion.

Obstacle Failure possible? Level Required Experience
Balancing ledge Yes 40 22.5
An out of the way obstacle pipe No 49 7.5
Monkeybars Yes 57 20
Rubble Pile (leads to Salarin the Twisted) No 67 5.5

Once you get past the last rubble pile, you can access Salarin the Twisted, which is a big help in the Herblore Skill, and a few other things. For more info, see the Yanille Dungeon section of the Herblore Guide.

Gnomeball

Gnomeball is a Mini-Game located in the Gnome Stronghold. Gnomeball can be a fun way to gain some Agility Experience. See the Gnomeball Guide for more info.

Agility Shortcuts

A handy aspect of Agility is the ability to use shortcuts to get around quicker.

Good luck with your Agility!

Woodcutting is a skill that can help you in the fields of Fletching and Firemaking, as well as being very profitable.

Woodcutting Tools

Woodcutting is done by chopping a variety of trees and other growth, mostly with axes. However, there is some other growth that you can use a machete with. Information on axes and machetes is listed below.

Axes

There are currently 8 different axes in the game, each with its own chopping standard.

Image Name Level Description
Bronze 1 Ideal for beginners
Iron 1 A step-up from the Bronze, this is somewhat better at cutting trees
Steel 6 Much better than Bronze and Iron, this is generally used at the earliest chance
Black 6 A so-called “rare”, these are obtained from Black Demons and Level-1 Clues
Mithril 21 Better than the Black Axe at almost half the price. Good for players that can’t exactly afford Adamant
Adamant 31 The second best axe in the game
Rune 41 One of the best axes you can get. Hardcore woodcutters wouldn’t be caught dead without one!
Dragon 61 This axe is not only the best axe, but it looks much better and also comes with a special attack. However, it is much more expensive.

Machetes

Most jungle growth in Runescape must be cut with a machete. They do not require woodcutting levels to use. However, the three jungle plants they cut – light jungle, medium jungle and thick jungle – do require varying levels to cut. These jungle plants are listed in the tree section.

Image Machete How To Obtain
Machete Bought in Karamja Jungle General Stores
Opal Machete Buy from Gabooty for trading sticks or bring an Opal, a machete, and some trading sticks to the Safta Doctor
Jade Machete Buy from Gabooty for trading sticks or bring a Jade, a machete, and some trading sticks to the Safta Doctor
Red Topaz Machete Buy from Gabooty for trading sticks or bring a Red Topaz, a machete, and some trading sticks to the Safta Doctor

Trees

There is also a wide selection of trees in Runescape. Free players can cut down all trees excluding the Achey, Jungle, Teak, Maple, Hollow, Mahogany and Magic varieties.

Tree Image Logs Level Exp Information
Normal 1 25 Commonly used for beginners. The only kind of logs that can be made into arrow shafts for Fletching
Achey 1 25 Found east of the Feldip Hills. The only kind of logs that can be used to make Ogre Arrows, Brutal Arrows and the Ogre Comp Bow
Light Jungle* 10 32 Found in the village of Tai Bwo Wannai *Only able to cut with Machete
Oak 15 37.5 A grand old oak. This tree can be used for firemaking experience and some decent woodcutting experience, as well
Medium Jungle* 20 55 Found in the village of Tai Bwo Wannai *Only able to cut with Machete
Willow 30 67.5 The most common freeplay/member tree of choice. Willows are used heavily in fletching and firemaking, due to the fact that they are easily obtained and sold, as there are always buyers to buy such. The experience ratio for these trees is good for how long it takes, a few can be found near banks (Seers’ and Draynor Village)
Dense Jungle* 35 80 Found in the village of Tai Bwo Wannai *Only able to cut with Machete
Teak 35 85 Tai Bwo Wannai: Must do favours for village and pay 100 trading sticks, speak to Murcaily for details(Jungle Potion Quest Required)Also found on the island of Ape Atoll, south of Castle Wars and outside the Cave Horror Den on Mos Le’Harmless
Maple 45 100 A good tree, plentiful in the Seers’ and Sinclair Mansion area. The Island of Miscellania even has a Maple forest; however it is only obtained through completion of the Throne of Miscellania Quest
Hollow 45 87.5 At the same level you can chop Maple trees, you can do the same with Hollow Trees. However, this tree is only found west of Canfis, in Morytania. These cannot be used for fletching/firemaking, but are used to make Splitbark Armor, the protective armor for magicians
Mahogany 50 125 Tai Bwo Wannai: Must do favours for village and pay 100 trading sticks, speak to Murcaily for details(Jungle Potion Quest Required) Also found on the island of Ape Atoll and outside the Cave Horror Den on Mos Le’Harmless
Yew 60 175 One of the better trees to cut down. Unfortunately for players, not many can be found together or near a bank, even though there are some exceptions to the rule. A few can be found in Edgeville near a bank, in Rimmington, Gnome Stronghold, Seers’/Camelot territory, south of the Flax/Beehives, and the forest in Isafdar, Tirannwn
Magic 75 250 The rarest and most profitable tree of all. These trees can take a long time to chop at 75 or above, but still is worth it. These offer the highest amount of experience and cash at the same time. Used with Fletching, in making bows. Not many can be found, but they do occasionally come together: Thormac’s tower, Gnome Stronghold, and the forest in Isafdar, Tirannwn

Normal Trees also appear in two more varieties, Dead Trees and Evergreen Trees. These trees give the same experience as Normal Trees and require the same level to cut.

Extra Woodcutting Aspects

There are also some other aspects of Woodcutting that is important to know.

Nests

These drop randomly on the ground while woodcutting(similiar to gems are found randomly in rocks except nests fall on the floor, not in your inventory). Nests also disappear after a few minutes, so keep an eye out. The nests will contain Tree Seeds (including Fruit Tree), Bird Eggs (Blue, Green Red)*, or Ring Jewelry (Sapphire, Emerald, or Ruby). Once you have taken the item out of the nest, use a Pestle and Mortar on your Bird’s Nest which will crush it. This Crushed Nest is used as a secondary ingredient for the Saradomin Brew Potion. It requires 81 Herblore to make, but if you do not have the level, hold on to the nest.

*Note: There is no current use for the colored eggs, but rumor is that it will be a release of a new pet, so it is recommended to keep them for now.

Tai Bwo Wannai Clean-Up

The Tai Bwo Wannai Clean-Up Mini-Game, located in the Tai Bwo Wannai Village, is a somewhat fun way to level up your Woodcutting. In this Mini-Game, you use machetes to remove the light, medium and dense jungle and earn Trading Sticks, which can be used to buy various things in the area. See the guide for more info.

Canoes

Canoes are a means of transportation if you want to travel quickly to an area along the River Lum, or are not able to afford any other means of transportation. This skill requires woodcutting as a means to provide you with a faster transport, without cost.

Firstly, you need any axe. To make a canoe, you need to chop down the “canoe tree” at any station where canoes are able to be chopped (Keep in mind these stations are all along the river): Lumbridge, Champion’s Guild, Barbarian Village, and Edgeville. Chop down the tree at the station and choose your design. After you are finished, you may sail to each of the following areas just listed as well as the Wilderness (level-35) but when you travel to the wilderness, you can not travel back.

Canoe Name Level Exp Durability (before submerging)
Log 12 30 One Station
Dugout 27 60 Two Stations
Stable Dugout 42 90 Three Stations
Waka 57 150 All Stations

Woodcutting Tips

The following is a list of level-by-level training strategies.

Woodcutting Levels 1-15:

Cut Dead Trees near Draynor Village or , cut the Evergreen Trees in the Taverley.

Woodcutting Levels 15-30:

Level quickly on Oak Trees, banking your logs is optional if you want the Fletching experience as well. Oaks are populated throughout RuneScape, but the best places to find them are Draynor Village, or if you are a member, outside the Castle Wars Arena.

Woodcutting Levels 30-45:

Start chopping Willow Trees, and use the logs to raise your Fletching and/or Firemaking levels, or to sell. Draynor Village is an ideal spot for cutting Willow Trees. Another area to chop Willow Trees is located northwest of the Seers Village Bank.

Woodcutting Levels 45-60:

Stay at Draynor Village, although you can chop Maple Trees, Willow Trees remain a faster source of experience.

Woodcutting Levels 60-75:

Either stay at Draynor Village for faster but less profitable experience, or chop down Maples for more cash in Seers Village and the surrounding areas being good spots, especially directly north of the bank.

Woodcutting Levels 75-99:

Either continue with your Willow/Maple paths, or decide to cut Magic Trees. Although this path is slow, it is the most profitable. If you are a member and are interested in levelling your farming levels, stay with chopping Willow Trees. Willow Trees have a higher drop rate of Nests, which means good farming experience while you chop.*

*Note: If bank space is a problem that you have, you do not have to remove the seed from the nest, just bank the nests with the unknown seed inside and they will stack up, not taking all of your bank space. When you are done, just take them all out and pull the seeds out.

The art of Fletching is a skill well known to many RuneScape members for it’s ability to make ranged equipment from various wood and metals. Most of the arrows, darts, and throwing knives you see come from fletchers in RuneScape, which illustrates the popularity of the skill.

How to start Fletching

There are three kinds of items that you can make to gain experience in Fletching: Weapons (Bows and Crossbows), Ammo for the bows and crossbows, and Darts. Info on all of these can be found below.

Weapons

The two main weapons for Ranged are the Crossbow and Bow – information on making them is found below.

Bows

To make bows, you must have Logs (type depends on your level), bow string(s), and a knife.
Steps:
1. Cut the Log with a knife.
2. Select either Shortbow or Longbow. If you do not have the required level for the log, you will get a message explaining this.
3. Afterwards, add the Bowstring to your Shortbow or Longbow.

The levels needed to cut logs into bows, logs needed, and experience given are shown below. Note: This table does not include experience for stringing the bow, see the following table for that experience, and total experience.

Log Level Bow Experience
Normal 5 Unstrung Shortbow 5
Normal 10 Unstrung Longbow 10
Oak 20 Unstrung Oak Shortbow 16.5
Oak 25 Unstrung Oak Longbow 25
Willow 35 Unstrung Willow Shortbow 33.25

Yew Shortbow 68.5 137
Yew Longbow 75 150
Magic Shortbow 83.5 167
Magic Longbow 91.5 183

Metal Crossbows

To make metal crossbows, you must have logs (type depends on your level), a knife, the appropriate limb(s) and crossbow string(s).

Steps:
1. Cut the log with a knife.
2. Select the crossbow stock.
3. Add the appropriate limb (see Smithing Guide) to the stock.
4. Use a crossbow string (see Cooking Guide and Crafting Guide) with the unstrung crossbow.

Note: The experience values shown in the table below are the ones you get from cutting the stock only.

Log Level Stock Experience Required Limbs
Normal 9 Wooden Stock 6 Bronze Limbs
Oak 24 Oak Stock 16 Blurite Limbs
Willow 39 Willow Stock 22 Iron Limbs
Teak 46 Teak Stock 27 Steel Limbs

Mithril Crossbow 64 32 128
Adamantite Crossbow 82 41 164
Runite Crossbow 100 50 200

Ammo

The bows and crossbows will need ammo!

Arrows

To make Arrows, you require the following: Normal Logs, Feathers, and Arrowtips(type depends on your level). (If you already have Arrow Shafts, you will not need Normal Logs. If you already have Headless Arrows, you will not need either Normal Logs or Feathers.)
Steps:
1. Cut the normal logs into Arrow Shafts
2. Attach Feathers to Arrow Shafts
3. Use Arrowtips on Arrow Shafts, and your Arrows are complete.

When you cut a Normal Log into Arrow Shafts, you will create 15 Arrow Shafts, and obtain 15 Experience. When adding Feathers to Arrow Shafts, you will attach up to 15 Feathers at once (depending on the total number of Feathers and/or Arrow Shafts in your inventory) and receive 1 Experience per Feather attached. This process creates Headless Arrows.

The table below shows the experience gained by attaching various kinds of Arrowtips to Headless Arrows, the level needed, and the types of arrows created. Note: the experience value is per 1 Arrowtip attached.

Arrowtips Level Experience Arrows Made
Bronze 1 1.95 Bronze
Iron 15 3.75 Iron
Steel 30 7.5 Steel
Mithril 45 11.25 Mithril
Adamant 60 15 Adamant
Rune 75 18.75 Rune

Metal Bolts

To make bolts, you will need the crossbow bolts made from the metal you want (see Smithing Guide) and use feathers with them.

The experience values only apply to making one bolt.

Crossbow Bolts Level Experience Bolts Made
Bronze 9 0.5 Bronze *
Blurite 24 1 Blurite
Iron 39 1.5 Iron
Silver 43 2.5 Silver *
Steel 46 3.5 Steel
Mithril 54 5 Mithril
Adamantite 61 7 Adamantite
Runite 69 10 Runite

* – Bronze Crossbow Bolts can be used be freeplayers.

** – Silver Crossbow Bolts are made by smelting a Silver Bar whilst having a bolt mould (available in crafting stores) in your inventory. You will also need a crafting level of 21.

Bolt Tips

Metal bolts can be tipped to create new types of bolts. These bolts can be enchanted to add a special effect to them (see Magic: Regular Spells). Once the bolts are tipped, they cannot be poisoned.

Most tips are acquired by using a chisel on the respective gem. Each gem will give you 12 tips. Onyx will give you 24 instead.

Note: The experience values are for each gem cut or tip attached.

Tip Level Cut XP Bolts Required Attach XP Bolts Created
Opal 11 1 Bronze 1.6 Opal
Jade 26 2 Blurite 2.4 Jade

Pearl Tips

Small oysters yields 6 tips whilst large oysters yield 24. For more information on how to acquire oysters, please look at the Fishing Guide.

Mithril Grapple

Mithril grapples are used for Agility (see Agility Guide).

Barb Tips

To acquire Barb Tips, you will first have to access the Ranging Guild. Once at the guild you will need to take part in the archery competition, at the cost of two hundred gold every ten shots. When you have one hundred and forty competition tickets they can be exchanged at the ticket merchant, found in the northern part of the guild, for thirty barb bolt tips.

Darts

To make Darts, you require the following: Feathers, Dart Tips (depending on your level). You must complete the quest The Tourist Trap in order to make these.
Step:
1. Attach Feathers to Dart tips, and your Darts are complete.

The table below shows the experience gained by making various types of darts, the level needed, and the types of darts created. Note: the experience value is per 1 Dart created.

Dart Tip Level Experience Dart Created
Bronze 1 1.8 Bronze
Iron 22 3.8 Iron
Steel 37 7.5 Steel
Mithril 52 11.2 Mithril
Adamant 67 15 Adamant
Rune 81 18.8 Rune

Ogre Items

Ogres also have some items to contribute to fletching.

Ogre Arrows

Ogre Arrows are made to be used with an Ogre Bow, which you recieve from the Big Chompy Bird Hunting quest. You use the Ogre Bow alongside with the Ogre Arrows to kill Chompy birds. To make Ogre arrows, you need the following: Knife, Achey Tree Logs, Chisel, Feathers, and Wolf Bones. When fletching Achey tree logs, you get a random amount of shafts, so make sure that you get a good amount. Every shaft requires 4 feathers. After attaching the feathers to the arrow shafts, you must use a chisel on the Wolf Bones to creat Wolf Bone tips. Each set of bones makes two tips. Attach the tips to the arrows, and you’re ready to kill some Chompy Birds.

Arrowtips Level Experience Arrows Made
Wolfbone 5 1 Ogre Arrows

Brutal Arrows

Brutal Arrows are a slightly more powerful version of normal arrows, however, they are differently made. You also need to use an Ogre Comp Bow to fire them.

Ogre Comp Bow
To make the comp bow, you need an Achey Log, one set of Wolf Bones, and a knife. You must have the Wolf Bones in your inventory when fletching the Bow. After making the bow, string is as usual.

Log Level Bow Experience
Achey Log 30 45

Bow Level Bow Total Experience
Unstrung Ogre Comp Bow 30 45

Brutal Arrows

To make Brutal Arrows, you follow the same method as you do for normal arrows, with a couple exceptions. Instead of normal logs, you use Achey Logs, instead of Arrow Tips, you use nails, and instead of 1 feather per shaft, you use 4. These Brutal Arrows follow the example set by Ogre Arrows above, but instead of Wolfbone Tips, these use Nails.

Arrowtips Level Experience Name Arrows Made
Bronze 7 1.4 Bronze Brutal
Iron 18 2.6 Iron Brutal
Steel 33 5.08 Steel Brutal
Mithril 49 7.5 Mithril Brutal
Adamant 62 10.1 Adamant Brutal
Rune 77 12.5 Rune Brutal

Locations

Throughout RuneScape, there are areas devoted to certain skills, or specific aspects of skills. Fletching has some area-specific aspects to it. For example, Achey Trees are found only in Feldip Hills, a location south of Yanille, and South of Gu’Tanoth(Ogre City). I have included a picture, as well as a section of mini-map to help you locate the Achey Trees. Remember, if you get lost, always use the RuneScape World map.

There are also locations where you can get other fletching items quickly. For example, an area heavy with Regular Trees, or Evergreen Trees can be usefull for cutting large amounts of Arrow shafts. I have also Included one such place for you. This area is located north of Falador, and slightly south-east of Goblin Village. Again, with this picture, I have included a piece of mini-map so you can better identify this location.

Several shops throughout RuneScape will assist you in beginning Fletching, or just stocking up on supplies for use at higher levels. These are listed below:

- Fishing Guild Shop, north of Ardougne – Feathers can be bought here
- Ranging and Fletching Shop, Catherby – Sells Arrowheads
- Ranged Guild – Dargaud (the Bow and Arrow salesman) sells Arrowheads, the Ticket Merchant offers Barbed bolt tips as a prize, and an Arrow Shaft respawn can be found here
- Fishing Shop, Port Sarim – Also sells feathers
- Fishing Shop, Shilo Village – Also sells feathers

Tips

For Arrows, I suggest that you take the amount of feathers you need, the amount of Bronze Arrowheads you have, a hatchet, and a knife, and you go to the Evergreen location in the above section. Chop down Evergreen trees until your inventory is full, and make arrow shafts out of all of them. Whenever you feel like it, you can attach the feathers to the shaft, and attach the arrowheads to the flighted shafts.

If you want to make bows, I highly suggest that you have the logs in your bank, and fletch right there in the bank. However, if you don’t want to string your bows, you can take your knife and hatchet, go to any location with the tree of your choice, chop down the logs, and fletch away, given that you have the required fletching level. I suggest using this method until level 70, when you can make Yew Longbows. Once you can make these, you can actually make a profit by buying the Yew Logs, Bowstring, and Nature runes, and using the High Alchemy spell on the Bows. The same follows for Magic Bows at level 85. Use the Item Search to look up the GP vaules of the bows you are looking to High Alch.

Fletching Levels 1-15:

Start off by making Bronze Arrows. It is pretty quick experience, and also a good way to get arrows to train range. Cut normal trees that are close to a bank and make sure you have plenty of Bronze Bars so that you can make plenty. This way is also a decent way of making a bit of cash to spend on Fletching when you need it.

Fletching Levels 15-35:

Once you reach level 15, start chopping or purchasing Oak Logs, once you have cut them into unstrung bows, either buy or make your bow string.

Fletching Levels 35-50:

Same process as before, but this time, you are using Willow Logs, which are better experience than Oaks, but at the same time, the time to cut the logs is not much of a difference than it is to chop Oak Logs.

Fletching Levels 50-70:

Maple Logs, although a bit slower to chop, is better experience and great to train on if you are looking to level up quickly if you purchase our logs. If you want to remain in a low price range, stick with Willow Longbows until you reach level 70 Fletching where you will be able to make more of a profit.

Fletching Levels 70-99:

Although at level 70 you can only make Yew Longs, this is the moment where money from Fletching comes into play if you cut your own logs. You can easily cut enough logs to reach 75 and then at that point, stringing then alching begins to make profit. You can level to 99 Fletching from Yews if your budget is short.

Fletching Levels 80-99:

Using Magic Logs may be more expensive than using Yew Logs, but it is much faster experience than making Yew Longbows. Try staying with making Yew Longbows until you reach 85 Fletching because at 85 Fletching, you can still buy the logs you need and make a profit from alching your logs.

Extra Fletching Info

There are some other, extra things that you should know about while raising fletching:

Cape of Accomplishment

The ultimate reward for getting level 99 Fletching is not only the great ability you will have in the skill, but the Cape of Accomplishment that you will have the oppurtunity to purchase. For more information on Capes of Accomplishment, see the Skill Capes page.

Magic is a skill in Runescape that can be very helpful in combat, and out. It can teleport you most places in the game; even generate food for you. Magic is a very important skill. When raising magic, you can also increase your combat. You can learn powerful spells to destroy your enemies, and give a great advantage when fighting against NPC’s and even other players.

When using magic, the main things you need to remember are Runes. This is the only thing in the Magic Skill you MUST have. You need these to cast different spells; there are a total of 13 different runes. You can acquire these runes from stores, spawn points, quest and clue scroll rewards, and from monster drops. Check in the Mage Equipment Sections for a list of runes and for other equipment that can assist with your runes and spellcasting.

Spellcasting

To use a magic spell, click on the spell book in the game on the menu bar, located in the top right corner of the screen. You will see many different spells to choose from. Hold your mouse over any of the spells to see what runes are required, down at the bottom of the magic menu. It will give you a small description of the spell and what it does, and it will have a picture of the runes required, with some numbers below them. The first number is the amount of that rune that you have, and the second is the amount needed. If those numbers are green, you can cast the spell. A spell that you can use will also be lit up on the spell menu.

Now select the spell you wish to cast, (if you have the required runes) and click on it. In the top left hand corner, it will say your spell name and use with/. If you are using a combat spell, click on the NPC you wish to cast it on. If you are using a spell on an item, click on the item.
Note: When using a combat spell (excluding the god spells and Iban Blast) and wielding a staff, you can open the combat style menu and choose the spell you wish to attack with by clicking on the little spell book and selecting your spell. Then choose your staff combat style and attack the NPC you wish to kill, and you will automatically cast that spell on it. Special combat spells, such as the god spells and Iban Blast will have to be used manually against an NPC. Plus, on my runes chart and my Spells Chart (the part showing the runes needed for a spell and the effects), the thing refused to make a space between them.

Runes

Besides the runes needed to cast spells, there is a lot of different magical equipment to be used in Runescape. These will heighten your magical power, and protect you when casting spells. Below, there are two charts: one will show you all the different runes in Runescape and all the information you need to find them, and the other will show you all the info needed on Runescape’s magical equipment.

First off, you will need runes to be able to cast your spells. Here are all the different runes in Runescape:

Magical Equipment

Along with Runes, there are many more kinds of Magic Equipment to be acquired and used to your advantage in RuneScape, such as Robes, Weapons, and Armour. Decorative and trimmed items are not listed.

Magic Equipment: Robes/Armour
Magic Equipment: Weapons

Info on God Equipment can be found on this page.

Spellbooks

In Runescape, you have a chance of using three different spellbooks, each containing their own unique spells, only one of which is freeplay. The information about each spellbook and the link to the respective page is listed below.

Spellbook Basic Info
Modern Magic Basic combat spells and utility; available to all players
Ancient Magick Powerful area of effect combat spells; members only
Lunar Magic Support and utility; members only

Extra Magic Info

There are some other, extra things that you should know about while raising and casting magic:

Magic Guild

For the elite wizards only, in the far south town of Yanille (members only), lies The Magic Guild. To enter, you need 66 magic. When inside, you can purchase any runestone in the game (excluding cosmic and astral runes), go to the essence mines, and many other things. See the Magic Guild Guide for more info.

Magic Mini-Games

There are two mini-games that focus on Magic: The Mage Arena and the Mage Training Arena.

Deep in the wilderness lays the mage arena. In this side quest, you can start your training to achieve one of the strongest magical acheivements: the power to cast a god spell, a very powerful spell, anywhere in Runescape.

The Mage Training Arena lies north of the Duel Arena. There you can practice magic in many forms to earn powerful mage equipment.

Magic In Other Skills

In Falador, at the bar, you can purchase a Wizards Mind Bomb from the Bartender for 3gp. When you drink it, it temporarily increases your magic by 2. For members with 64-65 magic, you can use this to get into the magic guild.

Also, you can make your own magic potion, at 76 herblore. The Magic Potion will temporarily raise your magic level for a set amount of time by 4. You make it from Lantadyme and a Potato Cactus. For more information, see the Herblore Guide.

You can also craft many items to assist you with your magic – see the Crafting and Runecrafting guides for more info.

There are also two aspects of Magic in the Construction Skill: Magic Tablets and Crystal Balls, which are both made/used in the Study Room. Crystal Balls are used to modify staffs, along with certain runes; there are three kinds total. With a Crystal Ball, you can only change Elemental Staffs. With an Elemental Sphere, you can change both Elemental Staffs and Battlestaffs. However, with a Crystal Ball of Power, you can change Elemental Staffs, Battlestaffs, and Mystic Staffs.

Magic Tablets are also made in the Study, on the Lectern. You can use the Lectern to create a Magical Tablet of a any non-combat spell, providing you have a powerful enough lectern. You could, for instance, with a Demon Lectern, make a Magical Tablet that, when used, would cast the spell Varrock Teleport – however you would need soft clay and the runes required for Varrock Teleport to make it, as well as the required magic level. For more info, see the Construction Guide.

Cape of Accomplishment

The ultimate reward for getting level 99 Magic is not only the great ability you will have in the skill, but the Cape of Accomplishment that you will have the oppurtunity to purchase. For more information on Capes of Accomplishment, see the Skill Capes page.

Introduction to Combat

Combat in Runescape is generally known as a group of seven separate skills, and these skills make up your Combat level. While your Combat Level isn”t technically an actual skill level, it is still very important. They are important in the game due to the fact that you need them to defeat things for quests and stay alive and other various things.

The Basics

An important thing to note is that combat level is based upon the armour and weapons that an NPC has, naturally or equipped. For example, a Fire Giant will have a higher combat level due not only to his strength and size, but to his rather large Dragon Sword and Chain Mail. Things change a little during Player Vs. Player fighting, but that will be covered later.

When you hover your mouse cursor over an NPC or player, that person’’s (or NPC’’s) combat level will be displayed.

Combat levels in green mean that you have a higher combat level than them. Combat levels displayed in red mean you have a lower combat level than your target. If the colour is displayed in yellow, it means the player has a similar combat level as you, or the NPC is within your combat level range.

Combat Level

There are seven skills that compromise your combat level: Attack, Defense, Strength, Ranged, Magic, Prayer, and Hitpoints. All seven of these skills have a special effect on your combat level; for example, if your Strength and Attack attribute is greater than that of Magic/Ranged then your combat level will be Melee based. If your Magic attribute is greater than Strength or Ranged then your combat is Magic based, and if your Ranged is greater than Strength or Magic then your combat is Range based. All these skills together also determine what your actual Combat Level is. This guide will mainly cover the melee part of combat.

This is an example of a player’’s combat and their combat skills. Their Melee levels exceed all others, so this player is Melee Based.

Combat Types

There are seven total skills relating to combat and three kinds of fighting. XP is gained in these skills depending on how much damage you deal.

Melee

What is Melee? Melee is defined as physical combat; the sword and shield. When using Melee weaponry, you can only attack at close quarters. In certain cases, such as using the Halberd weapon, the melee warrior may stay a distance away from a would-be attacker and attack from either behind a fence, another player or a safe-spot, such as a high wall in Castle Wars or from behind a cage. There are four skills intertwined with ”melee” that effect your combat: Hitpoints, Strength, Defence, and Attack.

Hitpoints

The Hitpoints (HP) aspect of RuneScape is not a complicated nature. It basically means how much damage you can take before you pass out and wind up in Lumbridge or Falador. There is NO direct way to train this skill, because it takes approximately 0.33% of all your damage and applies that to your Hitpoints experience. Your Hitpoints are affected by ALL combat skills, so a high level in this would be very nice to have and easily trained at the same time.

Attack, Strength & Defence

The next three skills of melee combat – Attack, Strength and Defence – are a key factor of melee fighting. The Attack skill determines how often you hit (so a higher Attack Level means you will hit your opponent more often); the Strength skill determines how much damage you deal (so a higher Strength Level means you will deal higher damage per attack); and the Defence Skill determines how often you”re hit (so a higher Defence Level means you would be hit less by opponents). It is good to have these levels even, but as you advance in Runescape, there can be certain advantages to having spaced out levels.

However, Attack, Strength & Defence are also 3 of 4 combat styles. You will learn more about these later on.

Magic

Magic can be a useful part of combat. You can use Magic to deal various amounts of damage to your enemy from long range, teleport around Runescape, enchant items, and a variety of other things that give you an advantage in Runescape. For more information on Magic, see the Magic Guide.

Ranged

Ranged is a very powerful part of combat. You can use ranged with a variety of different weapons to inflict damage on your enemy from a distance. For more information on Ranged, see the Ranged Guide.

Prayer

Prayer isn”t necessarily a direct melee attribute but it does heavily affect the tides of battle whilst fighting as well as affecting your combat level. When you are praying, this shows to the Runescape Gods that you request their mercy and pity, and in many cases they will bestow it upon you. You can use Prayers to protect you, boost your stats temporarily, and a variety of other things. Everything is covered in the Prayer Guide.

Fighting

As mentioned earlier, fighting is a very important part of Runescape. It can be rewarding, as well as dangerous. There are many factors to consider when fighting, such as weakness, combat styles, levels, and so on. There is a lot to learn about all kinds of fighting – melee, magic, and ranged.

Combat Styles

Attack, Strength & Defence are 3 of 4 combat styles. When melee fighting, you can usually choose from 4 kinds of combat styles -Accurate, Aggressive, Defensive, or Controlled. Your combat style can be changed from the combat interface menu (see picture below).

When fighting with any combat style (excluding controlled), your level is related (Accurate relates to Attack Level, Aggressive relates to Strength Level, and Defensive relates to Defence level), and you will do more of what that skill offers (e.g., if you were fighting with the Aggressive Combat Style, you would deal higher damage), and the majority of the expierence you gain will go to the level related to your style. The Controlled style is a different story. In this Combat Style, your accuracy, strength and defence are distrubed evenly – as is the expierence you gain.

Choosing a Combat Style is important. Say, if you wanted to level up your Attack Level more, you should fight in the Accurate mode. But if you want to conserve your HP and take less damage during a fight, you should fight in the Defensive mode. There are many things to consider.

For example, there are many NPC’’s that are weak to one thing and more resistant to others. Bloodvelds, for example, have magic-based attacks, so when fighting them, it’’s better to wear equipment that is resistant to magic, such as Dragonhide.

Another quick thing to remember about combat is the auto-retaliate button, located on the same menu where you can change your combat style. When this option is set to on, you will automatically fight anything that attacks you. When it is off, you will not fight back if you are attacked.

Multi-Combat Zones

There are certain zones throughout Runescape, Wilderness and not, specified by two twin swords in the lower right hand corner of the screen, that are Multi-Combat Zones. In these zones, both multiple NPCs and multiple Players can attack multiple targets. Otherwise, fighting is restriced to one-on-one.

Death

If and when you die, you will spawn in Lumbridge (or Falador in some cases) and in most cases you will keep your 3 most valuable items, or the three items that will sell the highest out of all of your items in a general/specialty store. By activating the ”Protect Item” prayer you can keep up to 4 items. Please note that you do not keep stacks of items, but only three. (For example, if you had 50 natures runes, you would only keep three.)

However, things may change if you are skulled. This is indicated as a skull above a player’’s head. Your become skulled when you go into the wilderness and attack another player that hasn”t attacked you in the wilderness recently. When you are skulled, you lose all items when you die, unless you have the Protect Items prayer activated, in which case you will keep the most valuable item. The skull above your head stays with you for 20 minutes, or until you die.

Please note that the three most valuable items rule goes by the price of high alchemy – so, for example, a Rune Plate would be kept over a Party Hat, since a Party Hat only alchs for 1gp.

The Combat Triangle

As you”ve learned, there are three ways to fight in Runescape – Melee, Magic, or Ranged. The balance of these three styles are kept even through the Combat Triangle.

As a general rule, a warrior (melee fighter) will do better fighting Rangers (ranged fighter), but be weak against Mages (magic fighter). A Mage will do better against warriors, but are weak against Rangers. And, obviously, a Ranger will do good against Mages, but be weak to Warriors.

Player-To-Player Combat

Though you might be able to beat very strong NPC’’s, when fighting another player in the Wilderness, it’’s very different. In the wilderness, players can fight you and do everythin you can – eat, drink potions, use special attacks, etc. You have to consider a lot of things. The Combat Triangle becomes very important in the Wilderness. The odds would not be in the favor of a Mage fighting an equally leveled Ranger.

As noted above, being skulled is also a big part of Player to Player fighting – if you start a fight with someone and earn that skull over your head, you won”t get to keep any items if you die (it’’s important to remember this if you”re traveling in the Wilderness).

There are still many more aspects of the Wilderness and PvP fighting to be learned. You can learn more about the Wilderness and PvP in the Wilderness Guide.

Special Attacks

Most higher level weapons in Runescape have a ”Special Attack” option. When weapons with a special attack option are equipped, a special attack bar appears on the Combat Styles section of the menu. When this bar is fully lit up, you can click it to activate the special attack. When activated, the next time you attack something, the special attack will automatically be used on your opponent.

Using a special attack will take away a certain amount of energy from the special attack bar – depending on what weapon you use. With some weapons, you can use the special attack many times, and with others, you may only use it once or twice. If you do not have enough energy in the special attack bar to use the special attack, you must wait until it has charged back up enough to be able to use the special attack again.

Special attacks, of course, vary from weapon to weapon not only in special attack energy consumed, but by type. The special attack may be a powerful slash, such as in the case of the Dragon Long Sword, or it may be a powerful ranged shot, as in the case of the Magic Longbow. Some special attacks even have a special effect, such as the Dragon Scimitar – it’’s special attack is the ”Severe”, which prevents the opponent from using Protect Prayers for 5 seconds. Protect Items is unaffected.

Here is a table of all the Special Attacks in Runescape.

Black Warlock Boost another player’s Strength.

Tips

The following are useful guidelines that everyone should use when fighting.

- Make sure to carry food! Decent level food such as Lobster, Swordfish or even Shark can serve you very well. There are many higher level foods that heal even more (up to 22!), but may be more expensive, require a higher Cooking Level to make or are just plain tedious to get all the materials assembled. (For more information, see the [link url=http://www.runeweb.net/index.php?page=rs2-cooking]Cooking Guide.

- Dress in the strongest armour you can wear/afford, or equip the best armour for that particular fight (see last miscellaneous tip). For more information on armour strengths and values, see the Melee Armour Page.

- Use the best weapon you can wear/afford, or use the best weapon pertaining to the fight (see last miscellaneous tip). For more information on weapon strengths and values, see the Melee Weapons Page.

- If you’re facing a monster that’’s far stronger than you, be prepared to run away from them. There’’s no shame in fleeing from a strong monster.

- Make sure to use items that will give you an advantage when fighting (e.g., wearing Dragonhide when fighting Bloodvelds, since they have a magic based attack). If you face a monster with a special property (i.e. Dragon), come prepared by having an Anti-Dragon Breath Shield, or Anti-Dragon Breath Potion. It would be a shame to not be able to really heal under the (sometimes) instant torrent of flames one would recieve.

Extra Combat Info

There are some other, extra things that you should know about while raising combat:

Cape of Accomplishment

The ultimate reward for getting level 99 Attack, Defence, Strength or Hitpoints is not only the great ability you will have in the skill, but the Cape of Accomplishment that you will have the oppurtunity to purchase. For more information on Capes of Accomplishment, see the Skill Capes page.

All players in the world of RuneScape need food, and what nicer way to gather food than fishing? Fishing is a fast way of gaining food as there is only one ingredient (although other items may be required, ie. feathers and bait).

How To Start Fishing

You will have already briefly fished some shrimp on Tutorial Island, using a small fishing net.

Fishing equipment is needed in RuneScape to catch different types of fish. The various fishing tools can be bought from the fishing shops throughout the world. It is worth noting that while most of the shops sell the same stock of items, Catherby and the Fishing Guild also sell Net Fishing gear for Members, and the Fishing Guild store also has a larger stock of items than other stores. Also for some fishing types (fishing rod and fly fishing rod), extra items are needed. These are bait and feathers. They too can be purchased from the fishing shops for a little fee, from players for a little more, or (in the case of feathers) from chickens. Chickens drop 5-15 feathers each.

Popular Fishing Store Locations:

· Port Sarim
· Shilo Village
· Catherby
· Rellekka
· Fishing Guild (On the floor near the range)
· Fishing Guild (The salesman)
· Etceteria + Miscellania
· Fishing Colony (The banker)

The fishing tools are listed below:

Image Name Notes Minimum Level
Small Fishing Net First type available 1
Fishing Rod Requires bait 5
Big Fishing Net – 16
Fly Fishing Rod Requires feathers 20
Harpoon Requires no additional items 35
Barb-tail harpoon Acts like a Harpoon, can be wielded 35
Lobster Pot Obviously only for lobsters 40
Oily Fishing Rod Hero’s Quest item, requires bait 53
Karambwan Vessel Must complete Tai Bwo Wannai Trio Quest 65

You do not need to equip the fishing equipment, and you do not need to equip fishing bait and feathers. You simple have to have the items in your inventory. When using fishing rods be sure to have the correct additive, feathers or bait, in your inventory. If you have the correct fishing equipment and a high enough level, you can go to any fishing spot and began to fish.

Fishing spots can be found in almost all of the water of RuneScape, except fountains and sinks. They look like a sparkling spot of water, and with most of them you can right click them to choose how you want to fish. You may be able to cage at a fishing spot (for lobsters), or perhaps harpoon at that same spot for tuna or swordfish. Fishing spots vary widely.

Fly fishing spots are commonly found in the rivers and freshwater of RuneScape. The sea houses the fish for other methods, bait fishing, netting, caging, and harpooning. The Karamja docks are the only place for lobster potting and harpooning on free-to-play worlds.

Recommended Fishing Spots

There are some very useful fishing spots throughout Runescape, most of which are listed below. All of the following locations, however, are members only; for freeplayers, it’s best to fish at the Karamja Docks (for higher level fishers).

Fishing Guild

The fishing guild can be entered at level-68 Fishing, level-65 Fishing with one dose of Fishing Potion or Fish Pie, or level-63 Fishing with a bite of Admiral Pie. The fishing guild is a great place to catch fish. There, you can catch lobsters, tuna, swordfish and sharks. There is a bank for storing your fish, a fishing store and a range for cooking. Roachey, the fishing store owner at the fishing guild, does not sell fishing tools, only fish, bait and feathers. However, you can pick up a harpoon, lobster pot and big net on the floor of the room with the range, in the guild.

Burgh de Rott

Burgh de Rott, although a bit out of the way of civilization, is a tranquil fishing spot, all of which consist of Shark and Big Net Fishing. After you have completed the In Aid of the Myreque Quest, you are able to use the fishing spots in the area, with a bank just north of the fishing spots. The good thing about Burgh de Rott, is that the fishing spots do not move very often, and you will not be stuck on a dock with your fish all the way over on the other dock such as the fishing spots in the Fishing Guild tend to do.

The Fishing Colony

With the release of the Swan Song quest, the Fishing Colony has been a popular place for high level fishers. The Fishing Colony is the only location in Runescape where you can fish monkfish. Fishing Monkfish is some of the fastest exp in the game, only second to fly fishing in Shilo Village. There is a bank, directly south of the shore. The same person who runs the bank also runs the general store. Getting to the Fishing Colony can be a pain. The fastest path of travel would be to take a Gnome Gilder to the Grand Tree, leave the Tree Gnome Stronghold via the south gate, run directly west, then follow the narrow path till you reach the boat to the colony.

Extra Fishing Info

There are a couple of other things in Runescape that are important to know about if you wish to fish.

Trawler Mini-Game

The trawler game can be started at Port Khazard and lasts 10 minutes. Murphy the experienced sailor’s boat is damaged; if you’re the kind sort of fisherman/woman you can offer to help Murphy out in his boat. In this mini-game you help maintain the boat and catch fish. Murphy also gives you some of the fish if you get back ok. You can catch some of the rarer fish of the waters of RuneScape out at sea in the Trawler. To help catching the fish you must have at least level-15 fishing, however, it is recommended that you have at least level-79 fishing (level-76 with a dose of fishing potion) so that you can begin getting the rarer fish. Level-79 is required for catching Sea Turtle and level-81 for Manta Ray.

The boat is in quite a state, the net tends to break often and the holes on the side of the boat keep letting water in. It’s not ideal for such a professional fisher now, is it?

To fix the net you will need some rope. To fix any leaks you will need swamp paste. If water starts to ooze into the boat you may want to get rid of it; this can be done with a Bailing Bucket.

Rope, Bailing Buckets and swamp paste can be bought from the store in Port Khazard. Alternatively, you can make the swamp paste yourself. You will need swamp tar from the swamps of southern Lumbridge and some flour, mixed together, and then cooked.

It’s a good idea to take a few friends with you to help out. Good luck!

Fishing Random Events

Random events also occur whilst fishing. If you don’t know what random events are or aren’t familiar with them, they are events which occur randomly, surprisingly. They are part of RS2’s security system to stop macro users. They will just require a quick and simple reaction and you can go on with your business. Random events that occur while fishing are listed below:

Image Name Information
Whirlpool If you fish in a whirlpool you can lose your fishing tool. Just wait until the fish return or move to another spot
Big Fish A big fish will appear, swallow the fish, and take your fishing tool. It will throw it back onto land a few squares away from you. Just pick up your tool and move to another spot or wait until it returns
River Troll A River Troll appears and starts attacking you. Its level depends on your combat level. Just run away a little until it stops attacking you, and then return
Moving Fishing Spot Your fishing spot will move to another location. Wait until it returns or move to a new location

Fishing Tips

The only place in the Free to Play worlds to fish Lobsters, Tuna, and Swordfish is on the pier in Karamja. Members typically fish those at Catherby, Burgh de Rott, the Fishing Colony, or the Fishing Guild. The Fishing Guild is a very helpful place for fishers. Located North of Ardougne, if you have 68 Fishing, you can get in, and have access to several fishing spots that contain various types of fish. There is also a fishing shop and a bank. See the Fishing Guild Guide for more info.

Fishing Levels 1-20:

When you start out, you are forced to simply Net sea fish, such as anchovies and shrimp. Do so until level 20, then spend the rest of your time fly fishing with feathers. You can find some good sea fishing spots south of Draynor Village, or Port Sarim.

Fishing Levels 20-40:

Ultimately, fly fishing salmon and trout is the hands down fastest way to level fishing, as it yields the most exp per hour. Good spots to fly fish are Lumbridge and Shilo Village, as you can quickly cook and get rid of your fish there (general store and bank).

Fishing Levels 40-62:

Lobsters, although at a low level may seem slow, are pretty quick experience as well as have a high demand by players due to the amounts they heal. Therefore, focus on fishing those if you wish to profit from fishing as well as gain quicker experience, but not as much as Trout or Salmon.

Fishing Levels 62-76:

If you have completed the Swan Song quest, Monkfish are one of the quickest ways to gain fishing experience. They give more experience than Sharks, but are easier to catch and cook. Although getting to the Fishing Colony is cumbersome, it is suggested that you plan to stay there for awhile because the bank is pretty close to the fishing spots and it is quite a pain to arrive at the colony.

Fishing Levels 76-99:

Once you are able to catch Sharks, although it would not be adivised due to the length of time it would take to catch a full load, you can fish till max level. The more favorable way of fishing to level 99 would be though either Monkfish, Lobsters, or Trout and Salmon.

Whichever you choose depends on the amount of money you want to make and the speed of which you want to gain levels.

Extra Fishing Info

There are some other, extra things that you should know about while raising fishing:

Cape of Accomplishment

The ultimate reward for getting level 99 Fishing is not only the great ability you will have in the skill, but the Cape of Accomplishment that you will have the oppurtunity to purchase. For more information on Capes of Accomplishment, see the Skill Capes page.
