Start: Go to the boy located in Taverley, and ask him what’s wrong. He will say he kicked his ball in the Witch’s Garden, say you will help him. Go now to the main Door of the Witch’s House, and search the pot which is next to the door. (You will get a key, and then go in.)

Needed skills: You will need to defeat a Shape shifter who gets better each time you kill it. You need to kill the monster 4 times (level 19, 33, 47, 54)

Needed items:
Some piece of cheese (any food shop or in Aggie’s house in Draynor (the witch)
Leather Gloves
All items you think you need for killing the 4 creatures. Armour, weapon, food and maybe potions depending on your level.

Walkthrough
1. Go upstairs (it’s near the door), In that room you will find the Witch’s Diary, take it and read it.

2. Climb down and head over to a ladder going down. Go thorough the gate, open and search the wall cupboard for a magnet. (Make sure you are wearing a pair of Gloves before you open it or you will get hit a lot of damage.)

3. Then read the whole diary one more time before climbing up. Go through the Door opposite of the Ladder and drop your cheese on the floor there (make sure you drop it in the space between the two Doors), a Rat should now pup-up. NOW, and quickly use the Magnet with the rat. (You may have to do this several times since the Rat disappears very quickly, so it’s a great idea to bring more then one piece of cheese.)

4. Open the the door and walk into the Garden. WATCH OUT FOR THE WITCH, LOOK AT THE MAP. When the Witch is coming, hide behind a Hedge, and don’t move until she walks by, and then run to the next Hedge. Take you good time and repeat the last step after she walks by. Do that until you get to the fountain.

5. Now it’s important that you read her Diary at least one time before checking the Fountain or you will not get the Shed Key. After you got the Key still hide behind Hedges until you reach the Shed, open it and grab the Ball, the Witches Experiment (Level 19) will attack you before turning into a Level 33 Spider then into a level 47 Bear then finally a level 54 wolf. After you have defeated the wolf take the Ball, keep hiding behind Hedges until you reach the House, open the Door and go out. Go back to the boy and talk to him for your reward.

Needed skills: You must be able to defeat a Warlord (level 112).

Walkthrough
1. To enter the maze [map], find Elkoy in the northwest of the maze near the entrance. He’ll invite you to try the maze. Make your way through the maze until you reach a loose fence.

Climb over the loose fence, and head to the quest startpoint, and talk to King Bolren. He will tell you that you need a Protection Orb, that the Khazard Troops have stolen. A gnome will then lead you to the battlefield.

2. Go north of the Battlefield, and talk to Commander Montai. He will tell you that he needs 6 logs. If you have the logs, talk to him again. He thanks you. Talk to him yet again, and he’ll ask you you to find out the coordinates from his trackers for the ballista.

3. Go north, and you’ll find the first tracker in a building. He will tell you the Y-coordinate, which is 5.

4. Now, go west, above the long building, and you will see the gnome along the wall. He will tell you that the height coordinate is 4.

5. Head south to find the third tracker. He has gone mad, and will say lots of garbage. Anyway, what he’s telling you, is that the X-coordinate is 3.

6. Now, go to the gnome side of the battlefield, and find the Ballista. Fire it. You will have to enter the right coordinates:
Height - 4
X - 3
Y - 5
If the coordinate is wrong, just try again until you find the right one.

7. Go up to the Khazard part of the battlefield. Go to the main building in the northwest, and climb-over the crumbling wall. A level 48 Khazard Commander will attack you. After you’ve killed him, go upstairs and another commander will attack you. Once you’ve killed him, open the chest in the northeast, search it, and you’ll find the Protection Orb.

8. Get back to the maze. Talk to Elkoy to be led through the maze, and then head to King Bolren. He will thank you, but he will also tell you that the other 2 orbs has been taken.

9. Head northwest of the battlefield, past the wolves (level 64), and find the Khazard Warlord (level 112). Talk to him, and then kill him. You will get the two remaining orbs.

10. Head back to King Bolren in the Tree Gnome Village to get the reward.

Walkthrough
1. To begin, talk to one of the three TzHaar standing next to the collapsed tunnel on the north east end of the TzHaar area under Karamja volcano. They’ll tell you that a creature has been digging under the TzHaar city and has made the ground unstable. There’s an opening that someone could go through to make the tunnels stable so that they can fill them with rocks. However, it’s too small for one of the TzHaar to fit, but a human might be able to. Offer to help them and they’ll tell you to speak to TzHaar-Ket-Grol. TzHaar-Ket-Grol is just south of the quest start.

2. TzHaar-Ket-Grol will tell you that he won’t let you into the tunnels without some items that you’ll need. He’ll give you a list, written in the TzHaar language, of items to get. To translate the items, go to the library in the western part of the TzHaar city.

3. The tunnel to reach the library is just southwest of the lava forge. Talk to TzHaar-Mej-Lor when you get there. Ask him for help with the TzHaar language and he’ll point you to the back of the library, where there are two book cases with ashes on them. It becomes clear that the books that were sent got burned, and that you need to find who wrote them. TzHaar-Mej-Lor says that they got them from the library in Varrock.

4. Teleport or walk to Varrock and talk to Reldo. Ask him about the books and Reldo will tell you that he has another copy of the book you need in his library. Search this bookcase for the book:

5. Look through the book to translate the items needed on the tablet. The answers to it are:

Tok-Xil-Im: Rune Pickaxe Tok-Ket-Hurt: Stone block TokJal-Hurt: Oak plank

(the amount varies per player, but you still only need 14 planks and 18 blocks)

6. Go back to TzHaar-Xil-Grol and tell him the answers. Next, go to the mines to the east of Grol. Talk to TzHarr-Hur-Brekt about magma mining, but he won’t teach you. Try to bribe him, and he will say that he won’t take your money. However, he will help if you can help him get the other miners to be in a play written by Brekt. Tell the miners about the plot for the play, and they’ll say they hate it. You’ll need to make some changes to the plot to make them all agree to be in it.

7. Speak to TzHaar-Hur-Brekt about changing the plot. Tell him to change the plot to be humans started it. This will go over much better with the miners. After that, talk to TzHaar-Hur-Klag about making changes to it. He wants a TzHaar-Hur in the story. Suggest to him that a TzHaar-Hur was the one that got robbed, and he’ll take that. After that, ask TzHaar-Mej-Kol about changing the plot. Choose the option for a TzHaar-Mej in authority knew what was going on, but did not do anything about it for some reason. After that, ask TzHaar-Xil-Mor about changing the plot, and suggest that a TzHaar-Xil could be the criminal.

8. Finally, talk to TzHaar-Hur-Brekt again about finishing the plot. The best ending is that the criminal’s actions keep getting foiled. However, TzHaar-Xil-Mor doesn’t like this too much. Talk to him and suggest that the actions maybe could haven been stopped only some of the time. Once you do this, the story will be done and you will have to assign the roles of the play.

9. After asking TzHaar-Hur-Brekt about the roles, go and assign them to the miners.

• TokTz-Ket-Ek-Mack as TzHaar-Xil-Mor
• KetKul-Schmul as TzHaar-Mej-Kol (modify it slightly so that he outwits Ek-Mack into only getting a small amount of TokKul)
• JalYt-Jenny as TzHaar-Ket-Jok (modify it so that the human does not get killed [survives the attack] and does not kill TzHaar-Xil)
• TzHaar-Hur as TzHaar-Hur-Klag (modify it so that it does not get beaten, only disrupted; also let his character be named TzHaar-Hur-Klag)

10. Once you have all of the roles assigned, TzHaar-Hur-Brekt will teach you how to mine the magma off of the walls in the room. Mine the amount of stone on the list and use a chisel or hammer (with both in your inventory) on all of them to get a support pillar.

11. Next, go to the bank and withdraw runes for a few dozen water spells, magic boosting armor, half of the rest of your inventory full of oak planks, and the rest full of pillars. (if you want, you can take a beast of burden to hold the runes, arrows, etc. note that you cannot hold the planks and pillars on it) Go back to the quest start point and use an oak plank with TzHaar-Hur-Frok to get the planks treated. Once you have the pillars and treated planks, talk to TzHaar-Ket-Grol again and ask him about how to repair the tunnel. Remember this when repairing them:

Pillars should be used when: The area is open unless the area is cramped and the damage is very bad. Planks should be used when: The area is cramped unless the area is cramped and the damage is not too bad.

12. Go through the crack in the wall next to TzHaar-Ket-Grol. Push the boulder in front of you and start repairing the tunnel. To do this, examine the caved-in walls and read the description of the damage. Use the correct item on it to repair it. Be careful not to trap yourself in, or you’ll have to push over a pillar and have to make a new one. Once you’re finished, mine the collapsed tunnel and go to the next room.

13. The fire monster on the other side of the lava will attack you with magic attacks, so you’ll have to kill it before you do anything. It isn’t harmed by ranged attacks, so you’ll have to use magic ones. After its been dealt with, proceed to repair everything in this area. If you run out of supplies, then go back to the bank and withdraw more. Remember to treat your oak planks at TzHaar-Hur-Frok.

14. You’ll need both magic and ranged attacks for the third room. Get a bow, ammunition, runes, and magic boosting armor. A lava beast and a fire monster will attack you if you go into the large, open area near you.If you have low defense, protect from range and hit the fire monster first with magic. After that, shoot the lava beast with arrows. Go into the eastern part of the third room. Don’t start setting up pillars, or you’ll trap yourself. Kill the lava beast in that area with ranged. After that, go as far as you can, to a spot where there is a large pool of lava blocking your path. Here is the lava pool:

15. After that, start setting up pillars as you make your way back west. Remember to hit any side areas along the way. Go across the lava and go to the next area, where you’ll find a few TzHaar-Hur’s. Talk to one of them and ask about the creature, and they’ll say that it is to the north of the area.

16. Before you go fight the TokTz-Ket-Dill, mine the collapsed tunnel on the south end of the area you are in. Go back to the bank and get food, a rune pickaxe, a crushing weapon (rune pick will do), and armor. If you can, then it is recommended that you summon a minotaur, as they are very good against the boss. Once you have everything, go to the mining spot and walk into the northern cave.

17. Start the battle using your rune pickaxe. The pickaxe will break its armor, allowing you to damage it with a crushing weapon. (you will get a message when you break through its armor) If you have it, use four dragon mace specials to get a few good hits in. Afterwards, continue attacking with a crushing weapon.

Once it’s dead, go back and talk to one of the three TzHaar at the quest start point and collect your reward.

Extra info
Stone slabs mined from the walls of TzHaar-Hur-Brekt’s room give 40 mining experience each. Crafting the stones into a pillar give 20 crafting experience each. Setting them up gives 30 construction experience.

You can use the fairy rings to get to the TzHaar area quickly. The combination is BLP.

Starfire509 - starfire again. i have a really good way 2 make aroung like 11k-how many $$s you want. first get some flax, then make them into bow strings. then do the same thing over and over until you have how ever many bow strings u want. Then make then into notes and sell them 4 100gp each. I got like, 58k by doing this. =)
Clinton Woo - I would like to say awesome site sal! Ok, if you are a member, get your theiving to 29. Then go to east Ardougne and pick the south house a few steps east then go upstairs and disarm trap on the norther chest and you will get 3gp and a nature rune, repeat alot and put in bank and sell to players for 300-350 gp each! I made 34k from only 91 runes!
Justrkomore - A good way to make money is to make strength potions. To do this bring a sharp weapon with you to Varrock sewers. Run through the entire sewer until reaching a web. Slash it open and run south then west until you reach some deadly red spiders. Take their eggs. Now give the eggs and 5gp to the apothecary to make a strength potion. Then sell them to high leveled pkers.
Rouge Menace - Hey Sal, you may remember me from such forums as, YOURS! Anyways I have two money making tips to do with theiving.
1. At 20 theiving, steal silk in ardougne and put them in the bank. Later you can sell them somewhere, like varrock or if you avoid the stall for a bit, Ardougne.
2. At 35 theiving steal fur at the fur stall in Ardougne. Then sell them to that guy in varrock that buys them.

Rahsk - Runecrafting!!!! I make so much money with it. Use the runesellers teleport in Varrock, mine rune ess, teleport out, run to bank, repeat as nesscesary. Eventually when you get good enough you can craft law runes (about 1k for each rune as of Feb. 2005). When your mining runes you can visit other sites since it doesnt stop mining until you hav a full inventory. I love this site!!!!!
Aragorn EX - Sup sal! You have a great site! anyhow a great way to make money is mining rune essence. Just go to aubrey and select teleport (you have to complete rune mysteries quest) and mine away! Go and put it in your bank and repeat. When you get like 500-1000 sell for 20-30gp each. People always buy. Big mulah!!!

Start with ur iron or bronze and make pl8bodys,skirts,legs,full and med helms,and ur customers choice of wep. Say ur selling male & female iron sets for 1.5k each maybe, or something else. U’ll attract lots of attention in a busy area. Once u’ve got their preference e.g. pl8body or chain, med or full helm, pl8 legs or skirt, etc. go down and make it and return 2 sell. U’ll make tons and u can do the same with mith,addy, rune,steel and any others. Since u could sell full rune 4 about 200k a set, with 5 customers u can make one mil!!!! Punisher9900 - A gr8 way to make money is to range dragons and sell everything they drop even bones. I fond its best to do it on blue dragons in the Taverley dunjun and the heros guild basement. The bones sell for 3k each and they can drop rune meds i think high alched for 18k and they can drop level 3 clues, steel stuff, herbs ect. You can make alot this way. In Taverley you can hide behinds like mushrooms and the east corner of the heros guild dragon cage is the only place the dragon cant get to.
Bigball58 - BIG BONES!If u wanna make money quick kill giants and colloect there big bones.BY doin this u will also up combat lvls. sell each big bone 4 300 ea and u will get money in no time.3 giants equal 900gp.
Estellio IV - For non-members go to wizards circle near varrock. Now kill dark wizards and u can get chaos, natures, laws and elemental plus sometimes coins. I took me just 3/2 hours to get full mith!
Hellsquire - Sal, your site is the GREATEST!!! It helped me so much on Rune! Thanks to Sal, I’m not a noob anymore! (Oh yeah, the tip…) Mine rune essence. You just have to do the rune mysteries quest and then keep teleporting to rune ess from Aubury. His shop is really close to bank. It takes about 5 minutes to get 200 ess and you can sell this for 1k!

You go to edgeville and take a pickaxe into the wildy once u reach lvl 1 wildy make a left until and u reach the top of the ice mountain boarder you go north until u find a minning spot mine coal there until u have full inventory then go to edgeville bank and store it and do it again!It works i got 100k from it. Coal is worth 200 gp each!!!

Tommy M 10 - Right, hi all, Tommy M 10 here! ok then, if you are lvl 30 or more, get loads of good food (e.g tuna, lobbies,etc.) but actually fish for them. then, go to white knights fortress and kill loads of em (they lvl 36). They drop loads of good stuff like: 2 law runes, 5 nature runes, 30 water runes, 5 mind runes, up to 120gp!!!!, half an apple pie (…..), pot of flour (…..) and 5 mith arrows and 2 adamant arrows!!! not bad, eh !!!! thats all the stuff ive had up to now. peace out!
Sokhal - There is a very easy to make money. The requirements you need to do it is: a dusty key, hallberd [any kind(the faster the better]. Ok, so go to Taverley dungeon past the blue dragons, next to the lava eel spot. There are black demons ahead. Anyways, go attack one with your hal and come to the corner of the wall. Start attacking it, it won’t touch, it’s too big. Keep on killing them. If you have a ring of wealth, you have a good chance of getting a rune med and a chance of getting a drag med. Well, good luck!
Ventures777 - this site when u talk about smithing u always say make stell pl8s BUT ure wrong it requires 5 steel bars but if u sell ure steel bars for 500 each u make 2500 instaed of the 1400 u say u get with aclchmey plus u save runes which u could sell for 300 each so 2800 almost double of the steel pl8s !happy money making!

Shendrik - Hello everybody! Do you want to make money? Do this: if you are fishing lvl 40 or higher go to Karamja dock with only money and a lobster pot. Then fish your inventory full. Then go back to falador bank and put the lobsters in bank! Then go back and do the samething if you have 250 raw lobsters go to world 1 and sell them for 200ea! It really works! You can to fish 100 lobbies and sell them! I did it and now I have full rune with 200K in bank!
Cpkv - ok, before i tell u a tip, just wanna sa sup sal. ok, if u have like .35 theiving than steal like,3k silk. than after u got the 3k silk. Go to ferminik and sell them, or wait like a day but be kinda far away from the silk stall and than sel them 60gp each. happy stealing and dont get caught=)
Rach1100 - Okay, this takes a little while but it makes a lot of money. First go to the silk trader in Alkarid and buy all the silk you can. Then go to the clothes store in Varrock and sell them. I made at least 150 gp in 30 minutes.
Lysealot - warning u need combat lvl above 70 to do this and a dragon fire shield! what you do is go into lvl 13 wildy and kill green dragons. This gets your prayer up good if you bury your bones and you get combat up fast! collect the hides and store them in edgeville bank. once u have about 50-100 green dragon hides go on forums and sell them for 2k each! its how i make my money and it really works! the more u do it the easier it gets!

Then give the silk to your friend and tell him to sell it for 60ea. You’ll get 1k680 ea time and you can split that with your friend making it…840 gp ea! Happy thieving!

First mine 1k rune essence then make them air/mind runes. After when you have 2k mind/air runes sell them for about 40gp each. Don’t sell them 1 by 1 all at a time. You ill totally get 80k for all of them!

Zip239 - These money making tips are for memebrs only! If you are a member, then the two things you should do, if you are a high enough lvl is to get a ring of wealth, and go fire giant killing. These guys drop dragon med helms, dragon half sheilds, rune arrows, blood runes, and rune scimitars. The second tip is to get 55 magic, then fletch like no tommorow. Soon you can make 200 per when you high alch maple bows, if you get to magic longs then you can get 1550gp per alch!

PinkFloydBoy - to make money. get a rune pick first of all. then, mine all the gold u possibly can. craft jewelery. (u need a smithing lvl of at least 40 to smelt gold. and u need to be at least lvl 5 to craft nething gold) sell the jewelery to the general store. even just the rings that u can craft at lvl 5 crafting go for 140 gp each. sell 10 of these, and u’ll have 1.4 k easy as that. u’ll get even more money for better jewelery
Evil Person 8 - A really great way to make money fast is to go to the Fur Stall in East Ardougne and steal gray wolf fur until you get up to about 100 furs and then go to Varrock and sell them to the fur trader in the middle of the city. At first he’ll give you 150 gp for each, and after alot of selling he’ll go down to 120 each, which is still a LOT. This will give you about 12K in less than an hour! (You must have at least lvl 34 thieving to steal from fur stalls).
Gonger65 - chop lots and lots of maples till you get at least 1k and the nsell them for 100k. That is how i earn my money fast, and theres good exp. in it too. The average amount of maples i would get per day is probably 500 but i 65 woodcutting so best of luck in earninig your heavy duty cash

Pnkpantha007 - This tip is for people who have completed Doric’s quest and can mine and smith mith or addy. Go to dwarven mines and mine coal, and mith or addy. Go to Falador furnace and smith, go to Dorics anvil and make shields. Finally, go to shield shop near Falador north entrance and sell the shields. Optionally, you can go to either of the banks and sell the shields.(you can also bank everything, but it takes longer because you have to constantly return to bank.)
TowerJack - If you would like to make lots of money on top of raising smithing and mining lvls mine 2k coal, 1k iron, and make 1k steel bars. You can now sell these steel bars for 500 gp each which comes out to a whopping 500,000 gps. or you can buy the coal for 150 each, which comes out to 300k and still make 200k plus the experience from smithing it.
Do you have stuff to sell but can’t find a buyer? Well, you have 2 routes available to you.
1. Go to world 1 and try to find a buyer…Its THE Trading world.

Yes, it may seem boring and many people quit on the first 30 minutes. Get about 500~1000 (it will take less than 1~2hours). DONT EVERY SELL THEM FOR 10~15 gold pieces!! Go to world 1 and sell em for 30!! I’m serious! Make some serious cash and come off happy! I’ll do it again Yippeee!
Goddess Lemo - Here is a tip that will get you lota of money. do quest that allows you to mine rune essence. get runecraft to level 14. Keep mining essence until you have 16,200 in bank, then turn them into fir runes in al kharid dessert. Go to Varrock’s runeshop and keep on selling 10 at a time for 6gp. when done you should have 97,200gp.(spend wisely) you can repeat process to get even more, but don’t sell to much in one rune shop. Try going to sarams port and selling some there, then try other worlds.
Mvp 5 - a good way to make cash is str pots you will need red spider eggs and limp roots and 5gp for each str pot u make and sell them for 1-2k(i made over 100k in 2 days)beware the red spiders are lvl 36 and u need to kill hobgoblins for the limp roots lvl 32
Flameboy2026 - If you ever walk past a general store, ALWAYS check what it has to sell. One time I had a look, and it had 149 mithril daggers for sale, 12 gp each!!! I bought 23 of them, costing me around 400 gp… But then I went to a sword shop, and sold for 137 gp EACH!!! i made an easy 25k… ALL BY CHECKING THE GENERAL STORE!!!

First, chop 1,000 logs and carve them into arrow shafts. Next, aquire 1,000 steel barz and smith em into arrow heads. This may not sound hard but next you need to get 15k feathers. Once you have all those, you should have everything you need to make 15k steel arrows!!!!!! Sell them for 40 gp or more each and you should end up with about….. 600,000 gp!!!! Do the same with other types of arrows to make a fortune!!!! I traded 20k mithril arrows to a guy and I got full Guthix rune!!! Peace out Sal!!
Gatesentinel - Also, a great way to get money is by setting a reasonable goal of coal to get everyday, and if you keep on mining that much everyday, eventually you will have a lot of coal. (you can do the samething with other ores)

Sethwenen - Making money, you are going to think its crazy but if you are level 50 instead of mining coal, mine iron, you can get it most of the times instantly, so is faster, you can have up to 3k of iron in one day, and there is always people that buy it at 100gps, If you mine coal you can mine around 1k a day and it sells at 150gps.Then compare, I make 300k a day (with iron), while other people make only 100k a day, this way, in some days you can be buying all trimmed armours you want, all holyday drops, ammys, weapons, and more.
Strongbad - On this site on Sal’s moneymaking guide he put something about mining 2000 coal and 1000 iron and smithing it into 200 steel plates and you’ll get 196k from high alching them. Well I did this and it worked great. I sold them to horvik and got about half of what you get form high alch but it was still great. I didn’t beleive it would be that simple to make money but it was so listen to this site!!!
Whitenitrous - Mine coal lots of coal. But if you are like me (lazy) just try getting 100-200 a day 10 days 200 coal up to 250000gp especially in world 1. other wise it gets extreamly boring.

Don’t mine and sell! Smelt it and make it into amour and weapons! If you only work on mining for money, you’ll regret it later and not be able to make your own armour. And you can always sell the finished product when you’re done making it.
Strongbad - Never buy the coal if you are mining and smithing, because if you buy and sell stuff your profit still decreases even if you get lot. So if you have 100k and you buy 1k coal and smith and sell the stuff and get 90k then your out 10k even if you did get the experience , you should mine the coal and other ores yourself and you’ll get lots more money even if it does take more time.
Sir Konfuzed - hi, if u r a high lvl non member fisherman (fishing lvl 50 ) i would reckomend you to continue to catch lobsters, instead of swordies.
this is because there is a greater demand for lobsters and they sell for 200ea while swordies sell for 300ea but take twice as long to catch

Red Kerrin - Ya know how its hard to get money when your not a high level? Well its not anymore. First you can mine iron and lots of it at either dwarf mines or the mines south east of fally. Then when you get to something like 1000 you sell. Its that easy
so far ive made 100k in the last 2 days and im not that high of a level. Try selling stuff in fally east bank. I think that at parts of the day its the best commerce place in runescape.
Fizard - a good way to get up to lvl 60 mining and lots of cash is this.

One Big Tipper - If you are looking to make a lot of money quick would be to go to Falador and go to where the shortcut to the mines is located, get a decent pick and go mine coal down in the mines once you have filled your inventory you should head back to the bank and deposit them. (don’t forget about fatigue) Then repeat wait until you have around 1000 coal in the bank. Then head to Draynor village where you can trade the coal for certs (certificates) then head to Varrock square and sell for around 1k each enjoy the spoils! (spend wisely)
Servant of Zamorak - If u want fast money and ur a member get 5 thieving and go to Ardougne. Then steal 1k cakes from the cake stall. I got 170k in like a day and u can snag choc slices too. Pk’ers buy the cakes about 100-150 each

Turbo from the RS Investor blog here posting again for the Runescape Blog with my second installment (Click here to read part one) in the series. Today I will focus on some of the lesser known aspects of potting for training. In the first section, I talked about the potions you should be using, and can probably make yourself. Here I will go over some of the ones that you might need help with.

Magic Potions – Drink Me!

Should you use these while training mage? Absolutely (well, unless you are casting high alch over and over again…). At today’s cost of 235gp a sip, these are a bargain as well. They increase your mage by +4, significantly increasing not only the chances that you will hit more often, but also that you will do more damage.

I know that some readers are thinking, hmmm, “My inventory slots are more important than having a potion.” I agree to an extent, but you have to be aware that a potion’s effects don’t wear off instantly. I wouldn’t carry one along to a blue dragon task, but I would sure have a sip every time I banked hides and bones. The stat bonus carries me through the entire time.

Can’t make magic potions? I don’t know any high level herblorist who would turn down free herblore XP. I certainly wouldn’t. Today Lants are 1,163 and potato cactus is 965. That is 2128 per potion or 709gp per dose. Is it worth it for a +4 mage bonus? I think so.

The non-combat uses are also worth mentioning here. At level 70, I trained using teleother to Lumbridge with magic potions. On a crowded server, people beg to be teleported, and it is some of the fastest magic XP in the game. (at 71, you should switch from magic pots to Wizard Mind Bombs though).

Ranging Potions – Shoot this!

With Pking gone, these have lost the majority of their value, but are still very worthwhile potions. Today they are 431 a dose. Range potions give a 4-13 (10%+3) level boost. At 60 range that will boost you up to nearly 70. Starting with 70 range will get you up to 80. This is a pretty hefty increase, and will significantly decrease your kill times, saving you arrows (darts, knives, cballs, charges), time, and increasing the rate at which you level up.

In conclusion…

It really is worth it to use what ever stat increasing items and tools you can while training. With the potion market being what it is, they are well worth the investment. With both range and magic potions, it is more expensive to buy the ingredients and get assisted, but still not unreasonable, especially if you happen to have a few lants and dwarf weeds sitting in the bank. The seconds for both are about 1k each, and many people will assist you. Just call it out in the GE, and you should get offers.

Walkthrough
1. To start the quest, talk to the guard outside the mansion. He tells you that Lord Sinclair has been murdered. Tell him that you’ll help.

2. Enter the mansion, go to the room in the east, then north. You should now be in a room with a dagger, a pot and a smashed window.

Investigate the smashed window, and take the Pungent pot and Criminal’s Dagger.

3. Go outside the house, and go to the west of it, where the dog is. Investigate the Sturdy wooden gate.

4. Now, go out of the gate at the south, and follow the road to the south until you see a Gossip. Talk to him, and ask him who he thinks was the responsible. He tells you that the poison salesman made a big sale to one of the Sinclair family members.

5. Continue to the south, until you see the Poison Salesman. Talk to him, and ask him who he sold the poison to. He tells you that he managed to sell a bottle to each of the Sinclairs. Then, show him the Pungent pot you found earlier in the quest.

6. Head back to the mansion, and talk to each of the children that bought the poison: Bob, Anna, Frank, David, Carol and Elizabeth. Ask them about the poison. After you talk to each of them, investigate each of the places they have told you they used the poison on:
Bob - Beehive. It is located where the cows are.
Anna - The compost, which is west of the entrance of the house.
Frank - Family Crest on the southern wall of the house, east of the entrance.
David - Spider’s Nest upstairs, in the southern part.
Carol - Drain outside the house, on the western part of the southern wall.
Elizabeth - Fountain in the eastern part of the garden.
There is one place where there’s no poison used. This means that one of the persons you asked are lying.

7. The thread you took earlier in the quest has the same color as your culprint. You will now need to find the barrel that belongs to your culprint. Two are downstairs, and the rest is upstairs. You know the name of the person owning the barrel, since each barrel has it’s own name. You will find an item hidden in the barrel.

8. Go outside again, and go to the room at the north-western part of the house (the entrance is outside). Investigate the sacks, and you will find some flypaper. You will need 2 of them.

9. Go inside, to the Cook’s room, which is located north-west in the building. Take from the barrel of flour. Use some flour on the Criminal’s dagger. Then, use the dagger on a flypaper. Take some more floor, and use it on the object you found earlier, in the barrel. Then, use that object with a flypaper. Use the two fingerprints with each other, and you will find that they match exactly.

10. Go outside again, and talk to the guard where you started the quest. Tell him that you know who did it. You will show all evidences, and then you will complete the quest. Congratulations!

Walkthrough
1. Head to the Monastery south of Ardougne [map] and talk with Broder Omad. Ask him “Why can’t you sleep, what’s wrong?”. He’ll tell you that you need to find a child’s blanket.

2. Go northwest of the monastery, and just southwest of the ladder, there’s a stone ring. Once you enter the stone ring, a ladder will appear. Climb down the ladder.

3. Take the first path to the south, enter the room with thieves and pick up the Child’s Blanket which is on a table.

4. Go out of the caves and return to Brother Omad in the monastery. Talk to him again. He will tell you about Brother Cedric, which is not returning with the wine for the child’s party.

5. Head north of the monastery. You will see Brother Cedric next to the well (A water source on the mini-map). Talk to him. He’ll tell you that he needs some water. So, talk to him again, and you’ll give him the jug of water.

6. He’ll tell you that he need you to get wood to fix his broken cart. So, talk to him again to give him the wood.

7. Now, return to Brother Omad in the Monastery. He will give you the reward. Then the party begins. After some partying, you will complete the quest.

I have heard on many fan sites that merchanting has been destroyed since the introduction of the Grand Exchange, my opinion is it has only changed since the GE, not only is it still possible it is a lot easier and more players are able to do it, the profit margins have been reduced greatly but the fact that it is much easier more than makes up for it.

There are many ways to merchant you need to find a way that suits you, I will give a description of the way I have and still do it.

The easiest way is to see what the market wants, stand in the GE and have a look at what people are after for top price, you may see players for example repeating “buying dark bow GE at max price” or “buying Nats on GE max” this gives you the clue that they have tried to buy these items but are unable to get, you need to make sure its not a one off request and that they get it quickly after asking so stay a while and watch, perhaps you can train another skill while waiting and watching.

When you find an item that someone or some people have had trouble getting try to buy on GE for minimum price, you may need to leave it there overnight or for a day or 2 but you should be able to buy eventually, when and if you get it just put it back at max price and they should sell eventually, if there was a true demand they should sell quite quickly.

There are many things this can happen with, items I have done it with include black dragon hide bodies and rune boots, but the market changes so you may end up with a lot of stock you cant sell, if that happens keep it until it sells or sell for a small loss or no profit.

I am currently buying a product using it for xp selling the result for more than purchase price, its very expensive currently investing 20m on stock to buy and then sell but it is giving me some good xp, I will only tell you what it is when I reach 99 in that skill.

Another use of the GE for cash generation is speculating

Before the GE was out and just speculation about its use I anticipated a sudden and dramatic price drop across the board, with everything being able to be sold easily and likewise everything being able to be bought easily my speculation was correct, I had anticipated this so withheld buying my dragon bones for 99 prayer until GE was introduced, I bought the bones for 1.55k each, after getting 99 prayer I sold the remaining bones for 2.5k.

There are ways to speculate, the one I prefer is to use the behind the scenes and updates information on the Runescape website, have a look and guess what skills or items are going to be used for that update.

When summoning came out I noticed that guam leaves were used for low level summoning as well as iron ore, I also anticipated that there would be a summoning pot so I bought thousands of all herbs, I guessed the price would go up quickly for the herb used for that pot, as it happened there was a herb introduced for the summoning pot, its a low level herb but a very rare (I have never had one) drop for some reason, all was not lost I used the herbs for training herblaw and sold the ones I don’t use for the same price, as soon as the skill came out before other people had chance I went to GE and bought as many guams and iron ore as possible at minimum price (I would have paid max if needed because the price was sure to rise when players go to the summoning level to use the item), Iron ore went up a little in price and guams over doubled, I could have sold then and made 2m profit in a few hours.

We don’t get new skills very often or updates like the GE but the latest quest “Smoking Kills” had a similar effect on the black mask, it was a slayer based quest and brought out a new use for the black mask as a multi purpose slayer helmet because of this the price shot up over night, the first to buy the mask (In bulk even) could have sold for a good profit very quickly.

You may speculate incorrectly but even if you do there is a good chance you can sell for as much or more than you purchased for anyway.

There are many ways these are the ways I tried and still do, find a way that suits you and money just rolls in.
