Everything you need to know regarding Treasure Trails, can be found in this guide. If you are not sure what Treasure Trails are, here is a brief description.

Certain monsters in RuneScape will drop “Clues.” After getting a clue, you will be able to “Read” them to find out what the clue is. To solve the clue you may need to search crates, talk to a person, or dig up a casket in the ground. Once you solve the clue, you will get another one. After solving a number of clues, you will obtain a reward. This reward depends on the class of the clue you were given.

The following sections will explain the reward system, and give you answers to all the clues in RuneScape.

2.0 – Obtaining A Clue
There are three different classes determine the rewards for clues and there are different methods of getting different classes of clues. Level 1 Clues being the easiest to get and Level 3 Clues being the most difficult. Please note that at any given time, you can only have one clue. 3.0 – Coordinates
A Coordinate Clue will be in a Clue Scroll form like any other normal Clues. You will see something like “02 Degrees 48 Minutes North, 22 Degrees 30 Minutes East” To solve these types of Clues, you will have to have four important things in your inventory at all times while attempting it. The four items are:

Watch
Sextant
Navigation chart
Spade
To start with, you must have a co-ordinate clue in your inventory or bank when you go and do this, and can’t have a chart already in your bank. Once you have a co-ordinate clue, head down south-west of Ardougne (or north of castle wars) to the houses just north of the Observatory and speak to the Observatory Professor. Ask him to help you with your Treasure Trail Clue and he will tell you to get a Watch and a sextant. Then ask him about the chart.

» To obtain the Watch, speak to Brother Kojo, who is in the Clock Tower, located south of Ardougne’s Zoo.
» To obtain the sextant, speak to Murphy, who is the Trawler Guide in Port Khazard, located north-east of Yanille.
» Go back to the Observatory Professor and talk to him. He’ll tell you how to use the sextant then will give you a Navigation Chart.

Using your sextant, Watch and Navigation Chart:

Click on your sextant to show the sextant Display.
Click on the up and down arrows until you have the horizon in the middle of the eyepiece.
Click the left and right arrows to move the sun to the center of the eyepiece as well.
When your eyepiece looks like the one at the bottom, click “Get location” to know your exact Coordinate you are standing at now.
Move around accordingly to find the place you are required to go and use your spade to dig at that position.
When you are attempting a Level 3 Coordinate Clue that involves the Wilderness, a Zamorak Wizard will appear when you try to dig at the location. High level clues that are not in the wilderness may cause a Saradomin Wizard to appear. You must kill the wizard and dig at that spot again to receive your next Clue Scroll or your reward.

Zybez has created a tool to make finding the location for a co-ordinate clues really easy! Simply enter in the co-ordinates and Zybez will give you the exact location to dig to receive your next clue! Go to the Coordinate Locator tool page to take advantage of this utility.

To easily solve these puzzles, do the top row first, then the second row, then third, then do the four boxes to the lower left then finish off the six boxes to the lower right.

When done with the puzzle be sure to bring it back as soon as possible. If you log out with it completed, you will have to redo the whole puzzle.

Hi, I am Omega, and I am new at blogging for Zybez. This is a new experience for me, but I hope to make the best of it! I have several years of experience in Runescape, as I’ve been playing since Summer 2002. My views might differ from the typical player, but with games like this, everyone experiences it differently. So, if I have said something offensive, it’s my opinion and not yours.

The main update this week is the Quick Chat system, which does seem to partly help with the common phrases you are likely to use, (except crying “noob” and telling people to get lost, which Jagex seem to have missed). This update has bought up one or two points of interest. After I had a little discussion with a fellow player, I found some interesting options. In the Trade/Selling option screens you’ll find the items “Pretty girl” and “9mm revolver” appearing. Interesting, like Jagex are trying to take a page from the GTA series. Next, I would expect them to add cars into the game sometime soon.

One problem I can always point out at updates like this is involving short cut keys, that for me don’t always work. For a while I couldn’t use the scroll wheel on my mouse with the scroll bars of the game windows. It is not that much of a problem, but it is annoying. I have since found out some of the function keys work on their own, but others only work with the key key. Maybe its to do with the Operating System I use or the method I play Runescape by, but it’s a bit of a mystery as to why some keys work differently to others..

Three more problems that come to this mind is that:

1. Finding some of the phrases can take a while. Until you know the layout like the back of your hand, using the interface won’t be a quick experience.

2. There isn’t a way to quickly trigger phrases that you use often.

3. Some phrases will probably be used for really idiotic responses to questions, such as “Another one bites the dust.” There’s also some common ones people use that are missing, like saying how much xp you have left till a level, or saying how many of an item you have to the next level.

I thought about the possibility of making your own quick texts to use in the game, which on paper sounds like a good idea. If it was actually implemented though, I imagine the players are likely to use it just for saying “noob” 200 times in a few sentences.

Looking at the other updates this week, levelling up messages are an interesting addition, but it is disappointing that it has taken Jagex so long to add this feature into the game. When you’re over 1,500 skill points and have every skill near or beyond level 50, levels are harder to come by (untill they add new skills). To make this update really useful, you would have to get multiple levels at a time. This is what really suits a feature like this, but when you’re over level 50 getting two levels at a time is hard enough with quests, lamps and tears combined. If only they added this feature earlier in life of Runescape, I wouldn’t of had missed so many of the gratifying level up messages (short of making a new account).

Another small update they’ve squeezed in this week that interests me is the introduction of a few Stat Signs dotted around Runescape. For example, the one at the Lumbridge Cow Fields shows how many cows were slain that day and how scared the farmers are. Useless information, but fun! And finally, Jagex added a way to find out almost exactly how long you have until your next appointment with Juna in Tears… pity it isn’t what I was expecting but it’s close enough to helping!

In conclusion these updates just add more automation to the game, which isn’t always a bad thing. In this case, it just makes it a little less of a chore to type stuff in, or find out when you can visit to gain free xp from Juna, or check what your new level can do for you. Its a pretty good set of updates this week. Roll on next weeks set of updates

Well if this is the price we pay:

Dueling arena – 3k Runescape Money in 15 minutes
Trading – 3k diffence between GE market price
Pking – No Items
Donation – DENIED
AND THE GREAT AND MIGHTY GREAT EXCHANGE – Pre determing the prices of items.

I Hate to say, that we are being pressured in to a very tight community. Runescape was all about making friends, and helping them out with a few donation here and there. And what about our community, Zybez. The events team was great with all the prizes that were DONATED and were going to be GIVEN to other players. These update will make Runescape a safer place, but the cost are that they won’t be protecting anyone.

Also, bots made the game fun, from time to time. While farming go report them.

Well Jagex runescape is now safe. But I have one question:

WHO ARE YOU PROTECTING?

Jagex Vs. Fansites

Article from http://www.therunescapeblog.com/
Ever since the dark ages of RuneScape, and even more so since the release of RuneScape 2, fansites have been saving Jagex’s ass. As head content developer for RuneCrypt, I have seen quite a few things about how tipsites are forced to function, that I never would have suspected in my 3 year history as a normal tipsite visitor prior to becoming a member of the staff. Programming an easy to use, useful system without breaking any rules becomes harder and harder with each update that Jagex releases. Let me cite a few examples…

1. The Knowledge Database

This helpful database is more than just that. It is Jagex own self-structured fansite, giving their players all the information they could possible need, all in a convenient location on RuneScape.com – awesome deal for everyone, right? But let’s look at the reasoning behind this. Would Jagex really spend their time amassing all of this knowledge into one place so that their players would have a more enjoyable (and easier, which is a key part too… but I’ll get to that later) gaming experience? This is how Jagex introduced the update:

“The aim of this update is to provide better support for our players, so that if you’re stuck or just need some friendly advice, you can quickly get the help you need rather than asking Customer Support or hoping someone is talking about it on the forums.”

(News Archives – March 13, 2008)

That seems a bit contradictory to the follow up posts by Jagex Moderators on the forums saying that the intention of the K-Base was to “protect players from malicious third-party websites”.

2. The Grand Exchange Database

Being a staff member on a separate tipsite, it is not often that you will hear me singing praise of our “competition”, but there is not denying the incredible work that Ben (Goten) and the rest of the Zybez staff did when they compiled their famous market price guide. The introduction of the Grand Exchange Database is a direct stab at that project, and furthermore it seems that Jagex has gone out of their way to make it as inconvenient as possible to extract data from their databases. I have truthfully no idea why a readable format of the data has not been released, as was done with the hiscores – although that was yet another example of Jagex only helping out tipsites indirectly because they couldn’t stop it and they would prefer to save bandwidth. Is it not ironic when Jagex finds it necessary to begin each news post with something along the lines of “We did this in response to player feedback”? Read on:

“Many of you asked for the ability to view graphs of market values and track item prices as they rise and fall. Well, this week we introduce the Grand Exchange Database Beta, which does exactly that!”

(News Archives – April 15, 2008)

3. QuestHelp

QuestHelp, in summary, is Jagex taking a primary role of fansites and attempting to render it obsolete. I feel that is all I must say for this one; does it really seem necessary to make a half-ass attempt at quest guides that simply comes off as the creators of the game making the game itself easier? What is their incentive to lower the required IQ for the game? Well, the younger crowd is taking over RuneScape now, and Jagex is doing nothing to stop it (although they only recommend the game for those ages 13 or older). Why would they want to prevent potential customers from playing? As long as they are paying, it doesn’t matter what age they might be. Getting back to QuestHelp, however, it is nothing more than Jagex realizing that tipsites are having a negative impact on some of their players. Once again, they have taken steps to make RuneScape.com another contender in the tipsite world, and cleverly disguise it as being “for the players”:

We know […] that simply resorting to looking up the entire solution can take all the fun out of the quest and often results in you seeing more solution than you wanted to see. This can leave you with the feeling that you didn’t really solve bits you could have done.

(News Archives – May 10, 2006)

But well done, Jagex. You have succeeded in being the first case I have ever seen where a beta version of a feature has lasted 2 years without receiving any changes whatsoever.

The list goes on. If you look at the way they redid the forums, or how they have modeled the hierarchy of their own website, you will see the same patterns. Only once, excluding content in the Knowledge Base, has Jagex truly recognized the fan site community in a public way. It resulted in the second largest riot to ever grace the likes of RuneScape (For the record, that puts it in a close second place to the wilderness and trade updates; aka “The Day RuneScape Died”). Yes, you guessed it. The riot I am speaking of was the one resulting from Jagex’s changes to rules 7 & 9 – the rules regarding third party software, and specifically clients.

On January 2nd, 2007 Jagex “extended rule 7 to make it clear that it DOES now include third party RuneScape clients/world switchers” (News Archives), meaning that all runescape clients other than the official one were outlawed, as they provided an “unfair advantage” – to use Jagex’s favorite phrase. Once again let’s investigate their reasoning/justification for this radical change:

“When RuneScape fansites are distributing programs which are then used to discuss breaking the rules or result in their own users being scammed, it’s clear that our rules need revision! We don’t want to be unnecessarily restrictive, but we obviously also have to balance that with protecting our users.”

(News Archives – January 2, 2007)

…A classic example of Jagex cutting of the nose to spite the face. If your users are losing their accounts and passwords due to third-party software, sure, some action may be warranted, but severing one of your major lifelines has never been a good choice for Jagex, and they never seem to learn. When at first the update was met with incredulous pleas for withdrawing the new rules, Jagex quietly inserted another paragraph into their news announcement:

“We have done this for two main reasons: a) The sheer number of users losing their account/password to programs which pretend to be one thing but actually steal their password; b) Problems with some of these programs including extremely unsafe chat channels where large amounts of scamming go on, and users encourage each other to try to break the rules.” (News Archives – January 2, 2007)

So Jagex is now pointing the center of blame at the security issue, and has seemingly forgotten their original claim that the reason was that programs such as SwiftSwitch provided players with an “unfair advantage”. In fact, Mod Burgess on the forums would go on to say that IRC is “unmoderated” and “promotes rule-breaking” – a statement that could almost be no further from the truth. This may come as a shock to Jagex, but RuneScape players get scammed in RuneScape. If you want to fix that problem, fix your game… remove trading or something if you have to hahaha… (wait a minute…).

Anyways, now that I have discussed what Jagex has said in response to these updates, let’s look more at what some players said when those changes were made. (Quotes all taken from the RuneCrypt forums – original posters may not still hold these opinions)

“Runescape is evolving more and more into a communist state. The chat filter is already oppressive and now even things that aren’t directly part of the game are being questioned and controlled.

I could quite easily live without SS, I survived without it for a LONG time and only recently started using it. What I disagree with is the freedom of choice that’s being taken away yet again.”

(Agent Yuri)

“Banning SS because it provides a thriving clan community a source of communication, and because Jagex failed to satisfy their customers, is stupid. Jagex you were well aware of SS already, you also made numerous promises to make a clan communication system and you did NOT do that.

Jagex, you backstabbed your customers with a false promise, then you turned a safe client that was acceptable into some taboo thing that will now get you banned. SS is safe and better.

Jagex, you failed to do the obvious, and instead took the only decent means of communicating through clans over RS away from us.

May as well ban in-game trading, I mean scams happen in trades too?”

(X Sam Sam X)

The topic of freedom came up on multiple occasions during those debates and discussions, and then continued as Jagex gave Player Moderators the green light to mute any protestors. You may not come from America, but the freedoms of speech and assembly are somewhat basic rights, especially in such a “politically correct” game.

To make it easy for you to see, I have collected gathered some statistics from RuneCrypt’s user databases and public polls.

1 in 4 members stay active on the fansite after retiring from RuneScape.
1 in 8 active members changed their status from P2P to F2P, or changed it to “Retired” after the changes to rules 7 & 9
1 in 3 active members uses some sort of third party software while playing RuneScape.
What can we learn from this data? 1. Fansites keep players in the RuneScape community when RS itself can’t. 2. Updates targeted at fansites are generally unpopular, and result in Jagex losing members. 3. Players don’t listen to Jagex’s advice, and prefer to use third-party software.

But if there is a Jagex employee reading this article, take this as a plea. Regardless of what I just said, I believe that 98% of the decisions made by Jagex are spot on. The company as a whole has fully deserved the awards it has won, and RuneScape will forever be an MMORPG that can’t be mimicked. It is vastly different from any other game I have ever played, and I think that the 98% of good choices could be increased to 99% if more trust was put in the hands of the players, and in turn to the fansites. When it comes down to it, the upper level of the fansite community is administered by at most 25 people working their asses off to serve the most loyal fans – would it be asking too much to give us a break now and then? RuneScape wouldn’t be RuneScape without it’s players and fans. Jagex is simply shooting themselves in the foot by trying to protect their players from the big, bad tipsites who are run by… their players.

know it’s been a while since i posted an article on TRB and i thought that this might be the right time. With the new HD graphics update and all the changes that Runescape has concured this year. As you guys might know, or maybe you probably dont. You probably don’t but yeah, im the creator of RuneSociety and as an admin, im really starting to get the impression that Jagex is slowly killing off RuneScape Help. Why? Well, im not completely certian of course, and this article is mostly alot of my opinion instead of fact, but i think it will really make you think. Over the course of the years, RuneScape Help has been a driving factor in the growth of RuneScape. Even if someone doesn’t play the game itself, they would join a forum like RuneSociety and just simply hang out with the crowd and eventually get into the game at least a bit. So lets talk about some of the actions Jagex has taken and are taking to try and possibly destroy 3rd party help.

The Grand Exchange – Database

Yeah, we all have our complaints about the in-game trading system now, but now lets talk about the tool they recently’ released, the Grand Exchange Database. For players, this is a miracle-ish type thing, you can easily check an items value and history and would kind of resemble a RuneScape wall-street tool. So in a sense, thats great and all right? Well yeah for the players of course, but with the coming of this also created the death of another. As some of us may know, Zybez was the first RuneScape helpsite to create such a tool, and many many players used it, they worked really hard to keep it up to date, seeing as they have to gather data manually rather than have it easily accessable like Jagex, its easy to say that Zybez put alot of work into their tool. Now this Grand Exchange DB came out, and i won’t deny that its more accurate and useful but it also is another major supporter of my theory. Now onto the next piece of evidence

The Knowledge Base

This was first introduced as a replacement for the game manual but this thing is slowly evolving in my opinion to a fully blown mini help site tool. To be really picky, they have their “Quest Help” tool, which supposedly helps players get past parts of quests that they find confusing, what does this remind you of? RuneScape Help of couse! Except this is Jagex’s version with a little kick to make sure that players play their game more instead of reading a guide and just completing the quest. Then they have their game manual that pretty much tells players anything they really need to know about the game.

So what is the point of this article you may think? Well, in a sense Jagex can really never shut down all the fansites but the things they are doing are helping to drive 3rd party help into extinction, afterall, when a new player signs up, and they need help, the first place their going to probably look now is the RuneScape website, and if jagex keeps on improving, the player will have everything they need at the Runescape website. Maybe this isn’t a loss, maybe its a gain, or it could be the other way around, but it depends on how you interpret these types of events.

We’d like to hear what you think.

Runescape,Runescape Gold,Runescape Money,Buy Runescape Money Are you up for the adventures of helping a poor girl in the wilderness and caging a giant beast? If so, I recommend checking out the Spirit of Summer quest guide. As with all of our guides, we’ve put this one out in a speedy manner with quality still remaining the priority. I’d like to give a special thanks to Noble Truce and Ryan P J for writing the guide!

If you haven’t already noticed, a week ago, we changed some things up on the radio. We introduced 2 new DJs to the team, as well as bringing back two old DJs. Go to the Zybez Radio page to see all of the current DJs.

In other news, we released our Lumbridge/Draynor Achievement Diary Guide a long time ago, so for those of you that haven’t already noticed it, or are bored and want something fairly easy to do, check it out.
Along with adding in the new DJs, I’ve implemented a new request system! Instead of of having to type requests out in the shoutbox, listeners can now visit the DJs playlist and click a song to request it. I believe this will make things much easier for both the DJs and the listeners, so check it out if you haven’t seen it already.

Finally, I’d like to remind you of our Runescape Videos section. With over 1,500 videos and counting, it’s the perfect place to watch funny Runescape music videos, PKing videos, clan wars, and even submit your own videos, so get watching!
